There He Goes Again (UPDATED)

Eddie Acevedo, state rep and Chicago cop on a Leave-of-Absence, who didn't mind having a gun himself when he was confronted by gang bangers in his neighborhood a few years ago (and if we recall, his "attackers" were never caught or identified...hmmmm) is spearheading another assault on you being able to defend yourself, your home and your loved ones:
  • After getting nowhere in the Senate, the gun controllers have taken their campaign to destroy your rights to the Illinois House. Earlier today, Amendment #1 to SB2899 was introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives. Sponsored by rabidly anti-gun Rep. Eddie Acevedo, the amendment would do two things to you:

    1. It would pick your pocket to pay for the confiscation and destruction of your own guns.

    2. It would ban more than 50% of the rifles and more than 80% of handguns owned by Illinois citizens.

THIS BILL WILL BE VOTED ON BY THE HOUSE JUDICIARY 1 COMMITTEE ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON – YOU MUST ACT NOW!
The Illinois State Rifle Association and Illinois Carry are leading the charge against this inanity perpetrated by the anti-gun, anti-self defense leftists.

Remember, these are the same people who are under a Federal Court Order to develop a workable Concealed Carry Law for Illinois residents within the next 5 months, yet they can meet on a Sunday (which they never do during regular sessions) to attempt to ban firearms en masse.

Surf over to the linked websites and call your elected idiots to knock off the bullshit that is just going to waste more taxpayer money.

UPDATE: Someone found the Trib article and no shots were fired. Acevedo just announced his office (Stop! I'm A Congressman!) and the gang bangers went away.

Maybe he could use that method in Englewood to help keep crime down?

Acevedo and Munoz always tout being the police, the FOP always endorses them and they do absolutely nothing for the police. They are silent on our pension problems and then they pull an ashat stunt like this. All I can say is shame on the FOP.

If you are not already a member, think about joining the ISRA and NRA.

A lot of coppers I know say they are not concerned because they are the police and can carry. (1) That is the same attitude the elitist politicians have. (2) The politicians can just as easily take YOUR guns away also. (3) EVERY person's voice counts. Get involved.

Is his idea to help the bangers? Does he have gang banger friends? He has an other motive! He knows that the bangers will always have guns no matter where they come from Mexico, Russia to name a few. Drugs are a crime in this country yet 50% of Americans use them. Where do these come from? The innocent law abiding citizens always takes it up the pipe.

Yes, if you read the bill it calls for hiring an outside security firm to confiscate and destroy all semi-auto rifles and pistols, with no exceptions and no grandfathering. I wonder if Eddie will give the work to his clouted Monteray Security company ? I wonder how much work Eddie actually does for the department ?

What they will do by passing that is criminalize much of the population. I won't turn in a fucking thing and I won't ever arrest a citizen for the same thing. Like parking meter enforcement tickets, I will simply ignore the law. Acevedo is being told to do this by the leadership over there precisely because he was a cop. He is making the decision to never be the police, he likes the easy living of a scumbag politician. Has he got his pinky ring yet?

It is amazing to me the speed and methods these people will use to circumvent a Constitutional Right recently re-affirmed by the 7th Circuit Court, yet it takes them months, years to address under funded pensions, double dipping pensions, jacked-up pensions for one day of work, criminals like Derrick King, etc.

It just occurred to me the other day, living in IL is like being stuck in a horrible marriage.

When are we going to start banning hammers? according to FBI statistics, more people were killed with hammers than with rifles in past years!!

And you don't even need to show an I.D. when you buy one!! No limits to how many hammers you can buy at the local hardware store! Unbelievable!!

BAN HAMMERS NOW !!

Elected officials take an oath upon being sworn in that they will UPHOLD the U.S. Constitution. That being said, why do so many democrats advocate laws that go against the Second Amendment? Can they be fired for failing to uphold their oath?

Efforts to ban guns sometimes sound like the efforts to ban alcohol pre-prohibition.

These politicians need to be put back in place. They seem to think they are better and more important than the people they serve. Ask any holocaust surviver how it all started. They walked into the classroom and all religious aspects were removed. Then all firearms had to be registered then all firearms were confiscated. Then certain people were confiscated. Think about it.

I don't understand it either. Possibly it's just posturing? - they know it won't stand, that a new Legislature is being sworn in on the 9th, and this is just a bit of play-acting, so they can persuade themselves that they are Noble People Who Are Doing Something?

Have called my Sen (Cullerton) and Rep (Williams) though am not confident that they are going to listen.

The bill requires retired law enforcement to register and pay the annual fee of 10 bucks per gun. The bill includes. All semi auto pistols and rifles with a detachable magazine or internal magazine over 10 rounds. So even my kids Marlin 22 rifle that was his Grandfathers is now considered an assault weapon. If this passes I will definitely retire out of IL. Also heard that the person charged with signing off on retired officers weapons cards is refusing to do so. Any truth to this.

It does have a twist in that it authorizes a contract with a non-public third party to create and administer a "registration eligibility verification system". GANGS AND POLITICIANS IN CHICAGO - AN UNHOLY ALLIANCE

"FELIX “FUNNY” BARRIERA, 26, a reputed governor of the Maniac Latin Disciples, was arrested in 2005 for selling heroin and for illegally possessing a gun. He was sentenced to six years at Jacksonville Correction Center, a high-minimum facility. In 2007, Barriera wanted to be transferred to a lower-security prison in East Moline, about two hours closer to Chicago. His request was denied, even after Representative Luis Arroyo petitioned IDOC. In 2008, Barriera tried again. This time, Representatives Eddie Acevedo and Daniel Burke contacted IDOC on his behalf, and his transfer went through. (Acevedo did not respond to requests for comment; Burke did not recall making the request.)

CHICAGO TEACHERS UNION SUPPORTS STATEWIDE GUN BAN, DEPOLICING STREETS AND SCHOOLS

CTU Communications | 01/02/2013

"CHICAGO—In the wake of yet another horrific mass shooting in the United States and the highest murder total in the city in four years, the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) supports all efforts to ban assault weapons in the state of Illinois.

“Far too many of our children are living in fear in their communities, and that is not a stable environment for success,” said CTU President Karen GJ Lewis...

"Solutions offered by some pro-gun advocates are not helpful. Allowing more guns [i.e., police officers] into classrooms and communities will not address the root causes of violence and likely would exacerbate it."

All of these assholes who propose these bills are people with absolutely no military service, none. Quinn, Madigan, Cullerton, all draft dodgers. Mayor Emmanuel, no U.S. Military Service. Obama, Biden, Gov. Cuomo, Senator Feinstein, Senator Boxer, all non veterans. They have absolutely no knowledge of these guns, why should they be allowed to judge who should and shouldn't have them.

We think that many of these politicians are about to martyr there own careers.

The number of FBI background checks for all of 2012 totaled 19.6 million.

Hell if we use the labor stat employment data to determine how many voting age people are in this country we have about 145 million people.

So percentage wise those people getting background checks are a large number of voters my friends.

Also we know that Illinois racked up 1.036 million background checks alone and the number of people in this state working jobs is about roughly 6 million. If we all get together and vote we can do some serious house cleaning.

These people are pissing on the Constitution, stealing our pension money and want to disarm us all. Wasting money on constitutional challenges one after another and borrowing even more money to pay for the legal battles. Then have the nerve to play the victim and the hero. "we will save you. cut your cost of living retirement wages until you end up in poverty before you die"

Ten to twenty years of skipping pension contributions. Using the pension money for pet projects. Our reward is that the politicians will up OUR contributions and lower our benefits. Push up the retirement age. Manipulate and restrict cost of living increases to the point that they turn into cuts. Then try to sell it as "pension reform" a good thing.

It's a process of legalizing the pension thefts isn't it?

Welp there's just a few days left for the lame ducks to pass something and get out of town in a hurry. Are they going to get away with it?

Hey SCC,

The Tribune said that no shots were fired when gangbangers confronted gun grabber Eddie:

Jan. 16 2011
"The Illinois House's assistant majority leader had a handgun pointed at him in the Lower West Side's Heart of Chicago neighborhood over the weekend.

State Representative Edward Acevedo (D-Chicago) wasn't injured in the incident, which occurred around 10:18 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of South Oakley Boulevard.

Police said someone inside a van pointed a pistol at Acevedo, but the vehicle sped away when the representative announced his office.

A police spokesman wasn't aware whether Acevedo -- a state representative since 1997 and a Chicago police officer since 1995 -- identified himself as an elected official or as a police officer.

No arrests have been made and police didn’t release a description of the van or the gunman inside.

Investigators weren't clear on a motive for the incident.

Acevedo, 47, won re-election in 2nd District on Chicago's West and Southwest Side in last November's general election after running unopposed. He wasn't immediately available for comment this afternoon."

When Little King Richie last a point on his gun control obsession, he would lash out and have his minions in the Illinois Legislature push some nonsense gun bill.

When the Federal Court B-slapped the State, ordering it pass some form of CCW, the Communist Democrats have gone on a hissy fit to end all hissy fits. They are acting like spoiled brats. Rather than nan-up and act like responsible legislators, they are trying to end run the Court by saying "We will pass CCW if we have to. But there will be no weapons to carry." Ramming thru crappy laws in the final session. Rather than sit down and work out a good law.

As for appealing the SCOTUS, other than waste more money, most likely will not be successful. And it would also effect other states with restrictive gun laws.

As of today, January 6, Illinois will have Concealed Carry in 154 days. Like it or not. The Legislature can either act like adults and put out a reasonable bill. Or let the sh!t hit the fan.

Acevedo is quickly rewriting SB2899 and will introduce Amendment 2 in the next few minutes, the hearing is at 2PM. There is a gun confiscation included in the Bill. If you would like to post a witness slip in opposition go here

http://my.ilga.gov/Hearing/HearingDetail/10395?HCommittees-page=1&HCommittees-orderBy=&HCommittees-filter=&chamber=H&_=1357496451636

but wait until HCA 1 or 2 isadded to SB2899. Put your organisation down as NA but titlre as Police Officer. Check in the box for opponent. If you click on the word "opponent" then it will automatically default to "proponent" (sneaky, eh?)

This has to be stopped in the House, if it passes in the house it may very well pass in the Senate. you have to post a witness slip prior to 1:45PM today in order to be counted

I really miss Shemp. He was nowhere as good as Curley, but a lot better than any of the other ones afterwards.
