Is anyone really reading what the media is putting out there? Is anyone in the media going to ask the obvious question? Let's set the stage here.
Dad changing baby in the back of a van. Think about the physical confines of a van. Those of you lucky enough to have changed a diaper know the mechanics involved. You're hunched over the child, there isn't much space, even in a van. He has an extensive criminal record - nearly 40 arrests, gun charges, dope dealing, self-admitted gang banger - and now he is refusing to cooperate with the investigation.
Mom caught a couple rounds herself while pregnant with the child, so her lifestyle choices aren't exactly stellar.
Dad got shot twice, in the side of the face and the ass, so this probably wasn't what cops call a "violation." Violations are usually messages over some error in judgment (shorting the tip, under-counting, talking smack) that can be cured with a bullet in the leg, arm, etc., not usually intended to be fatal. A round to the head isn't a violation - that's a hit. The shot in the ass occurs when they're running away.

Rev Brooks said "we are all to blame" for the victims shooting death, and said we need to stop trying to categorize people. This is the same Rev Brooks who sent indicted and now convicted Detroit mayor Kwame Fitzpatrick five thousand dollars recently. The money was from a fund the Rev asked people to donate to in order to build a community center near 65th and King. Hey dumbfuck, I'm not to blame for this. Yeaaa when I think of a great place to change my baby's diaper, it's in 30 degree weather in the front seat of my van with bucket seats in front of my crib. I think the next best place to change a baby's diaper would be a port a potty at the taste of chicago in 95 degree heat after a piss bum vomited all over the inside of it.

Thoughts on the shot in the ass. Probably first shot as he was bending over to "change diaper". Immediately grabbed baby and put the baby in front of him, to shield himself. He was probably pissed at the baby for wetting the diaper.

This is nothing new. Bangers have been using babies as shields, from the police and their rivals, for decades. It is disgusting. They are animals.
I was hoping you would make this incident a post, SCC. Because I was going to make the same comment as you just did. That baby was not shot in the manner that is being reported. Anyone with half a brain could deduce that immediately upon reading the media reports.
First off, no cop would ever believe that baby's daddy would be carrying an equipped diaper bag let alone change a diaper. If by some chance, the baby was not wearing a diaper when first responders hit the scene, it was probably because the diaper was full of dope and taken by the bad guys. Or the poor baby never had a diaper on in the first place.
Nest, if daddy was changing the baby who was lying on the front passenger seat, daddy would have been standing outside the front passenger seat with the door open, and daddy's back would have been the shooter's target. Which could explain a butt wound and a side facial would. But this scenario means daddy should have caught all 7 rounds, as daddy's body would have blocked the baby from getting shot.
Or if daddy was sitting in the driver's seat and changing the baby who was lying in the front passenger seat - this scenario would not explain how daddy got shot in the butt. And the bad guys would have to have literally reached into the vehicle and pointed their weapon downward into the front passenger seat in order to shoot the baby 5 times.
This story stinks so badly. I so wish I was a detective assigned to this case. This is a good one.

Anyone who is surprised by or can't imagine one of these savages holding up one of THEIR OWN CHILDREN to use as a shield hasn't spent much time, if any, dealing with them. It happens all the time. Not a cop but is the ME report public info? If it is this could be figured out. By looking at some pictures the drivers window is shot OT which could explain the dad being shot in the back. If baby is laying on her back to get diaper changed can explain being shot in chest. But what isn't explained is how would shooter miss dad 5 times but it baby. Maybe dad jumped in back seat.

Hmmm... responders to the scene state there was no evidence to suggest a diaper was being changed (i.e. no diaper).
Even the mainstream press is reporting the numerous gunshots to the baby (hard to do if the baby is prone inside a van, simple if the child is held up like a target, blocking the center mass of the so-called 'victim').
How could he be hit in the ass? Well, that happens after you drop the baby and run from the scene.
