NRA Lambasts Chicago

A special report from the NRA about "America's Deadliest City."

Retired Chicago cops figure prominently in the video, including Joe Moseley, Jim Arceo and Joe Lombardi and they go to town on the fact that Cook County doesn't enforce the laws on the books. In fact, one could conclude (as people with brains did years ago) that any law generated nowadays is meant solely to disarm the law-abiding. The gang bangers interviewed detail how easy it is to get a gun by stealing them by the crate-load off of railroad cars.

Definitely worth five minutes of your time.

Whats going on in the West end of the 8th District? Talking to residents in the Garfield Ridge Area, 3 cars have been torched on the streets during the night over the last few days. Will we be seeing VRI posts anytime soon???? One of the burn outs is still on 54th street. Again, the tax payers are being victimized and still no Police presence.

We did a lot of good police work around Haas Park and loved messing with the IG's. Guys like you are exactly what the department is missing to teach the next generation.

I'm sorry that happened to you, but good for them. I know it is an inconvenience to us who are law enforcement and pro gun, but I agree with all of the companies that refuse to sell to us because we elected un-American socialists to office.

If our elected officials are so anti-Second Amendment, they represent ALL OF US. Until we get rid of these socialist scum, we should suffer under them. Elections have consequences.

Keep in mind that you are a citizen. No different because you're law enforcement. If the rights of citizens are trampled upon, YOUR rights should be as well.You are not a special class with special rights. That's what the socialists consider themselves.

So, in short, go get your gun somewhere else. They won't sell to communists, which is what we represent because of who we elected.

HEY MORAN IT'S NOT A LATE FEE THAT WAS TALKED ABOUT AT TUESDAY'S MEETING!!!!

The law was changed so almost all of us did not have to file this time around. Unless you had some power within the department to decide contracts you did not have to file. The fee is for those who can not read and filed thus causing the city extra work. Thos who file and did not have to were accessed a 20 dollar fee.

If anything, the blame lays directly on those citizens. What do I mean? I told citizens on the west end of the 8th district about the problems we face. The majority didn't care! They even told me "that is your problem and you should deal with it", they even told me "well according to your chief and mayor manpower is not adequately used so you guys need to work more efficiently". Also many people were in denial that their pristine community is going to shit. Now that their neighborhood is slowly turning into garbage they still don't care. So who is to blame? In the ghetto they will get out and protest in a heartbeat. In the west end of 8th they won't. If you were a politician who would you listen to? To those who make noise? Or to those who are afraid to make a whimper?

Another FTO Rumor
We know we have a couple readers in the class - anyone want to confirm or debunk this one?
In FTO class today the officers were told that the north side districts were full and they could only bid for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 15. Most officers were angry and are contemplating going back to their districts and dropping the job.
If true, not surprising in the least. The Department has lied to FTO's for the past decade. Why would this time be any different?

Start off with the fact it is Illegal to sell to an out of state resident...illegal to the point they can loose their FFL and I'd have refused to sell to you as well.

I can buy my ammo in Michigan with just my DL...same in Indiana. But no where is it legal to buy a firearm if you don't reside in that city/county or state.

Unless you have an Active ATF FFL.

Five Things That Come To Mind That Might Help Curb Gun Violence.


1. Dump Rahm.

Refuses to hire enough Police Recruits to keep up with the numbers retiring. Extremely under staffed Police Dept doesn't equal low crime rate. Doesn't help get guns off the street.

2. Vote Smarter.

Quit electing these same idiots who have failed to do the job in the past. If they are useless, Vote Them Out.

3. Judges.

Let's have knowledge of the law, and a will to enforce it be the guiding light in placing them on the bench. Not Political Alliances.

4. Prisons.

Don't allow inmates to run the prison. If they have to be locked down to be controlled, then that's what has to happen. No lifting weights. They don't need to come out of prison 30 lbs stronger.

5. Police.

Reward good cops who make many good arrests over a number of years. If there must be merit promotions, then Promote Based On Merit, Not Clout. We will have a better C.P.D.

Married my EX in 1985. Mistake but that's a Different story. She grew up in area of 52nd and Merrimac. Then divorced her first husband and lived in apt at 52 and Moody and 6145 W. 54th ST. Since when can we carry AR's on the job. You can carry an M4. Being an Illinois resident you have to show them not only your dl or state id but your foid card. Then if it's a police related firearm, you have to show them your police ID and the form filled out that your boss signs detailing the weapon your buying. You can then buy the M4 same day and walk out the store with it.

4:40 let's cut exempts pension to last Rank before being Merit promoted . That would reduce pensions of most to Patrolman .
Big savings for our pension fund , it's bad enough they out rank us , but to collect a pension more than us is BS .
Take it one step further and reduce Lt and Sgt back to patrolman pension if Merit appointed to that rank , it's fair.

What is going on in 016? Seems there are never police patrolling the north end of the district. Response time is slow if at all. Meanwhile, crime is rising (especially theft from autos). One neighbor is so frustrated because his spare tire was stolen in front of his house 3 times in the past year, he refuses to put another spare on his vehicle. And he is not alone. Many more thefts and garage burglaries on midnights. If everyone in my neighborhood actually reported every theft, 016 crime stats would be way up. The commander is lucky he does not have to answer to this at next meeting with the Sup.

Also Dark colored Dodge Minivan Sport Edition with a middle aged m/2 and a f/2 (red/orange hair) doing drug sales off Harlem and I55 on 811's Beat. Vehicle drives into the neighborhood for a while and serves from the curb. Why dont I do anything about it? I dont work in 008. Also, off duty arrests usually turn to law suits. Go get em 008 Officers!

O.T. Watch for more national coverage about how bad it is here. The television show 48 hours has been driving around the city doing a similar piece about the violence. On Thursday they interviewed McCompstat as part of the show. Apparently he lost it when the reporter asked him if this city was still a safe place to visit. He ended the interview and was heard mumbling several choice words towards the reporter as he stormed out. It will be interesting to see if they put the blow up on TV. The show is supposed to air in about a month.

The politicians have ramped up the heat on legit dealers to the point it isn't worth the money / time / aggravation to do it. The politicians couldn't win their way in the legislature or court, so they fight dirty in other ways. On the flip side, We can also refuse to do business with those entities that don't stand up and fight back. That is our right.

The gun grabbers may never rest until they eradicate the evil gun ( and the equally evil owner in their minds), but eventually we will come to some stalemate. Merit hacks are the reason this job is the way it is. Unqualified people in spots they don't deserve. I know a lot of good guys....that doesn't make it ok to get a promotion because of your skin color or political affiliations.

I know alot of good test takers that did not deserve a promotion. Lets face it the testing system does not produce all great bosses either. I do agree that merit 30 percent is way to much, but some of the best bosses I have met over the years had their pick at the merit tree, not all merit promotions were bad ones, just the good majority of them and the same goes for the great test takers, many of them do not even belong on this job let alone being a boss. So the test doesn't always produce the best bosses.

As far as handguns, you can buy a handgun out of state, but the transfer must take place in Illinois through a licensed FFL. You cannot take possession of it out of state.

What we carry is only an M4 style weapon. The true M4, carried by US Armed Forces, is a select fire weapon that includes full auto and three round burst. Ours are 100% semi auto so are not true M4's but a variant thereof.

The AR15 was originally made by Armalite, then sold to Colt. The select fire version was the M16.

OP , you are wrong. I bought a long rifle (.270 game rifle) from Cabelas in Hammond , just had to wait the Il time period. Hand guns need to be transfered to FFL here.

Just for clarification, the m4 can come in full auto or 3 round burst not both. So the settings are safe, semi and full auto or safe, semi and 3 round burst. On our department only swat is allowed to carry this type weapon and this rifle is department owned and issued.
