For all who are wondering.. looks like her name tag and awards are upside down. Name tag should be on the bottom, awards on the top. But hey, she a captain and she earned it all. 30 years on the job and still can’t figure it out.

Now remember when this supervisor gives a verbal order you better check to see if that order is legal prior to taking any action? I will bet her gun is missing or dirty and that it is glued into the holster unable to be remover since it has never been inspected?

On CFD, when DEI people got promoted to Battalion Chief, they were given the phone number to one of the exempt ranks at 35th St., so they could call someone who could tell how to do their job. CPD must not have that.

I can kind of commiserate with her a little bit. Shit can really happen while getting ready for an event. Was a Sgt. at the time and getting ready to go into the Oral Board for the Lt.’s exam. The Orals for the Captains exam were going on at the same time.
I was sitting in the waiting talking to a Lt. who was waiting to go into his Capt.’s Oral Board. I was called first. Accidentally I picked up his hat and left my hat with the Sgt. shield on the brim. Right after I sat and began speaking I realized the hat in front of me wasn’t mine. The had a Lt.s shield. I noticed the Deputy Chief who was on my Board was staring at the hat. At that point I was totally gone. At the end of the interview I was asked if I had anything else to say. Of course I said that’s not my hat.
When I went out to the waiting area you can imagine how the Lt. felt walking in with a Sgt.’s hat.

I worked in one of those government offices where everyone "serves at the pleasure of", and a DEI fulfillment of the Peter Principle came out of a restroom with her skirt tucked into the top of her pantyhose and her massive derriere on full display as she strode down the hall away from about five of us. No one dared say a word. I'd bet plenty of people saw the upside down stuff and decided to let her show her derriere, figuratively.
That’s 2/3 of the command staff. This job has become public aid for a certain class of people. No police skills or instinct, just fitting the right demographics.

Capt Irvin....Earned not given....the subject of the blog soooo many times. It is par for the course when I brand new inspector cannot square herself away. After 30 years of service, you don't take the time to once over or have someone else look at your uniform. Not to mention, what are her qualifications for Capt, being a Lt DCO for so many years. The same person who took 15 days for a prisoner hanging herself as she was the acting tact Lt. but said it wasn't her responsibility to monitor the tact officers.

NO! I expect people to be promoted based off their competency, you meat head! Any knuckle dragger can bring in good arrests, that doesn’t make you a good supervisor or leader for that matter. Being proficient in the department directives, the law, specifically case law, putting your employees first, and not expecting them to do something you wouldn’t do yourself, lead with them, lead by example, and not be afraid to make decisions.
Expecting anything else is being foolish.

When I was in the military I personally inspected any and all of my troops going before a promotion board. Not only an inspection but also advice on what to expect and how to stay as calm as possible and think about your answer before blurting something out. Too many times I sat on a promotion board and it seemed some people think more words makes a better answer.
Ribbons don’t mean shit. You can do all types of police work. If you have an asshole supervisor who won’t put you in then it doesn’t matter. I know several guys who’ve had long careers and I’ve watched their sgts not put them in for anything and tell them that they don’t need ribbons for “doing their job”
