But since they're obviously politically connected somewhere along the line to be able to beat numerous recommendations for termination, there ought to be some sort of restriction on them ever getting a promotion or cushy assignment where they'd further embarrass the Department.

I've observed so many of these types of assholes in my career. It's disheartening to see. They take time and still get to units and get their meritorious promotions. Often times with multiple "bites" from the merit apple!
I've also seen good cops "slip up" and get separated for far less. I've known so many clowns bragging about "how much" suspension time they've served, wearing it like badge of honor. (Most of the time it's for off duty shit. They conveniently leave that part out.)
I spent the majority of my career as a beat cop in patrol and retired as a detective. No clout. Rank order. I only got jammed up once in my career, served a one-day suspension. I had another incident, reduced to a written reprimand. I only had (2) nuisance lawsuits in my time, both settled for the minimum "go away" money. No punitive damages. I knew many officers who've never had a civil suit or suspension time in their careers. I would bet, that's the majority of the department. But since suing the police is a cottage industry, it's unavoidable. If the department really wanted to clean up its act, it could easily do so. Talk to any competent supervisor, they know who the "problem children" are! I would bet 3% to 5% of the department members are responsible for nearly all of the large monetary judgements awarded.

Any other reputable police or law enforcement agency would have fired them and charged them accordingly like in FL. But hey, they can take a bs exam or better be meritoriously promoted to accountability Stupidvisor, just watch.

014 district follies here. Apparently 014 decided it was a good idea to allow THREE LT's to have the same furlough. 13B's for all. One Lt got it through district furlough picks while the second one was the Lt that was dumped from court section and thought he should be allowed to keep his 13B after being re-assigned from his Cush spot...and lastly the brand new Lt who was just assigned to 014 from Lt training thought having his old furlough pick from being a sgt would still be a lock. Well 014 brainiacs in the front office decided to send the A5 DC office about 20 Lt requests beucase you know they have zero Lts assigned working the 13 period segment and finally someone in the DC's office questioned why all of sudden does 014 need so many fill in Lt requests?! 014 Commander got a call from A5 DC who basically said no way and to start getting the furloughs completed asap. Guess RR didn't realize it's normally only one Lt per furlough segment in most cases, not three. It's almost comical and sad at the same time. RR is good dude but maybe in over his head but most importantly the front office staff failed and the newer Capt in 014 really failed horribly. Basic stuff that falls on mostly the Captain. They all need to get their heads outta their asses there may be some moves made and they may end up with new leadership in 014 in short time.

The Lt in 014 that was dumped from Courts is right if he was in deed dumped, he didn’t bid to 014 or request to go there and they can’t make him change it, contractually. Had he bid there or volunteered to go there he would then have to change his furlough. The new Lt. fresh out of class absolutely has to change his furlough.
Is it though? It gives someone an opportunity to own a home with a lower mortgage payment as they’re getting started in life. They can always refi to a new 15 or 30 yr mortgage at a later time as they’re getting started building equity. I think this is a much better idea than what the democrats did in early 2000’s when they were demanding people get zero down high risk mortgages that they were told would lead to the housing collapse, which it did. This idea does have some merit.

The hospital was attempting to move him elsewhere, and was giving them problems. You act like Cozzi struck a quadriplegic, when that totally isn't the case. The guy was an asshole, and deserved a crack. Fact is, Cozzi messed up, and paid the price, but he didn't deserve a hitch in jail after he already did a hefty suspension and personally paid the guy over $100K in damages.
