No One Called....Again
Again, we were never a huge supporter of ShotSpotter, believing that it was mainly a very expensive crime scene locator, but that it did serve a purpose of informing police about shootings (with potential victims) when the neighborhood didn't bother to call....like this:
A 61-year-old man was found lying dead outside his Auburn Gresham home early Friday, the latest gunshot victim to go undiscovered in a neighborhood once monitored by the city’s ShotSpotter system.
Officers responded to the 7600 block of South Sangamon around 1:25 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a man down outside their door.
Police found the victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
CPD had not received any calls of shots being fired in the area, leaving it unclear how long the man had been there before being discovered.
Now it's just a source of amusement and a reason to shake our heads at how far society has fallen.

Degeneracy is normal in those neighborhoods. Heck. In my neighborhood the good ol’ Edison Park, USA…. A neighbor’s lawn goes a week without being manicured the other neighbors are knocking on the door doing well being checks.
Actually there was a 911 call hours prior of shots fired right there. It was 19P.

ShotSpotter is the nosey neighbor that always calls and is always right. For those of us who used it in our past lives, it saved many a cops ass and helped us/me look at locations we wouldn't have known to look. You are working alone on afronoons and heat shots a few blocks away...what do YOU want "loud reports 5700 block Lowe" or "702s shots potter alert 5725 normal in the alley 5 shots". You arrive and goa, and you see the shell casings in the alley. No biggie

I posted on here last year commenting on the 62% increase in my property tax assessment from the Cook County assessor's office.
Today 11/15/25, I got the 2024 Tax Bill-2nd Installment due letter. My property taxes nearly doubled. My taxes increased by 97.2%. There will be no Christmas in my household this year. I got the letter from the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation today asking for a donation for Operation Santa Fund Drive. I've always been generous, but "frankly" (Governor Jelly Belly's favorite word, used in nearly every media statement) I'm tapped out. I will have to cut way back on my charitable giving. Sorry, charity starts at home...IF I CAN EVEN KEEP MY HOME! The taxes are pricing many out of their homes! I hope Madigan is enjoying his prison stay. I only hope the Governor is next!
