Englewood Shooting

  • A man was shot by police early Wednesday in the Englewood neighborhood after he pointed a gun at officers when he moved away from a crowd gathered there and officers told him to stop, police said.

About 1:40 a.m., officers on patrol saw a large crowd in the street in the 5600 block of South Morgan Street, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.

The officers saw someone separating from the crowd and holding his side as if he had a weapon, according to Chicago police Deputy Chief Carlos Velez.

The officers told him to stop, at which point he turned, pulled a gun and pointed it at the officers, according to police.

The officers then shot him. He was placed into custody and taken to a hospital. A weapon was found at the scene and taken in as evidence, Velez said.
The usual ghetto bullshit followed:
  • After the shooting, an agitated crowd surrounded the crime scene tape police used to block off a stretch of South Morgan Street. Dozens of people gathered along a sidewalk by a vacant lot, yelling and swearing at about 35 police officers stationed on the other side of the tape.

“Y’all hiding behind your guns,” shouted a man in a blue shirt. “I’m mad as f---. I’m hurt. I’m hurt, bro.” A nearby man took him in his arms and tried to calm him down.

An officer addressed a different man yelling on the other side of the tape: “Brother, stop it, the f---ing show’s over.” He was met with even louder shouted curses.

Police officers widened the perimeter of the scene, stretching tape farther north on Morgan Street and farther west into the vacant lot.

“Y’all going to stereotype the f--- out of him,” said a man in a White Sox cap. “Y’all got Tasers, for what? Y’all got mace, for what?”

The crowd slowly grew smaller, but the man in the White Sox cap and the man in the blue shirt remained.

“Y’all shot first!” shouted the man in the blue shirt.
No shit we shot first dumbass - show us a rule, ordinance or law that says we have to take incoming fire before returning and we'll personally sign over a years worth of paychecks to your unwashed, uneducated, unemployed ass.

Good job to all involved.

This is the sentiment all over the nation. Ol girl down in Texas gives usual ghetto attitude and gets locked up, hangs herself and now they're treating it as a homicide investigation. The arresting officer in Texas is on desk duty. Are you fucking kidding!! Texas, Ferguson, Baltimore, Englewood, Austin...the list goes on and on. I wish there was a way to put these assholes on a "don't deserve service" list. You hate the police so much? Fine, don't call. Dude just broke into your crib and stole your x-box? Oh well. "Y'all shot first."

And he raised, then aimed, his gun first.

Even in the old Wild West, the intent of such action was clear. And if you wait even a second longer...

And where is this guy's outrage at the idiot pointing a weapon at those who protect us? Ridiculous. No one heads out on duty looking to use their service weapon. This story exemplifies everything going wrong with Chicago.

The Catered To Constituency and the media for some reason, has it in their hard

Oh yeah...

Off topic. The media is all over this case in Texas where the f/ b from chicago was stopped for a traffic violation, was arrested for assault of the trooper, his dash cam recorded some and a citizen recorded some, then 3 days later she hung herself in jail. She is black, trooper is white,so right off bat it's a race issue, watch the video, she is rude and ignorant and trooper raises his voice and tells her he will " light you up" (taser) ,now all the talking heads esp. The black ones are making a big deal on why the trooper got her out of her car, well I'll tell you why,the fucking Supreme Court said you can,now listen, for the people who don't know, you don't need a reason to get the driver or passengers out of a car on any Lawful stop, again you don't need a reason.

Pennsylvania v.Mimms--A police officer has the right to order the DRIVER of a stopped vehicle out of a car on any lawful stop.

Maryland v. Wilson-- Due to the inherent danger of traffic stops for a police officer,he MAY Order the passengers out of a car on any lawful stop.

That's the law of the land, information is power, use it,don't let another po or sgt tell you. Uh you need a reason to get m out,Noo you don't, don't be afraid to do your job,be informed,be smart and be safe.

Man sneaks into New Jersey home, hides under bed for 3 days, police say

July 23, 2015

"A man sneaked into a central New Jersey home and hid under a bed in a spare bedroom for three days before the homeowner realized what had happened, police say.

"Spotswood police say Jason Hubbard was charged with burglary in the incident, which occurred in May but wasn’t made public until this week. He’s also charged with stealing electricity, according to NJ.com, because he allegedly charged his four cellphones in an electrical outlet underneath the bed.

"Authorities claim Hubbard entered the home on May 7 as the owner was taking out the garbage. He stayed in the spare room until the homeowner heard a noise and spotted Hubbard just before 9 p.m. on May 10..."

56th and Morgan, lot of great memories. Use to live on that block. Don't remember people partying in the street celebrating whatever they were celebrating. Biggest thing that happened on the stret there was when Holmes School burned down. Course that was pre 1967.
Something happened around that time that caused things to change. Still can't figure out what it was. Neighborhood kind of looks the same but there is just something different about it. Some of the houses are still there, some are gone. Lot of vacant lots however no kids playing baseball in them. I guess people party in the streets now and that's okay. Old days police would have just pulled up and told you cut shit out or they'd put their foot up your ass. Don't remember too many shootings but a couple of guys stabbed when the Byrne Building began to change.
Any way it was nice reminiscing about the old hood. Actually got a call from Florida from an old neighbor who was thrilled to see the old block getting the publicity.

The people in the ghetto are so stupid, that maybe the CPD should consider getting about 1000 of those airbrushed shirts:

"STOP! Hands up! Or we will shoot you. Fer Real Bro. You feel me?"

Maybe then they'd understand that when the cops tell them to stop - they stop. Don't make furtive moves. And they won't get shot. OR, they can keep doing what they're doing and get shot.

The choice is theirs.

We need our leaders to tell criminals that their activity comes with certain risks, and if they don't like that, then they need to stop engaging in criminal activity.

>>>> '“Y’all shot first!” shouted the man in the blue shirt.' <<<<<

Yeah! What The F--k! The cops on TV don't do that!!

You're supposed to 'talk the gun out of his hand'. Explain to him 'nicely' that pointing a gun at the police will ruin his chance of getting in Medical School or that job as 'Chief Architect', and that he should 'think of his wife and three kids -- how they'll be 'hurt' by him going to prison for shooting a cop, that he'll miss their Prom and graduations from high school. That works 70% of the time.

But if that isn't working you have your partner distract him while you're talking to him so you can get close and wrestle the gun out of his hand.

And if that isn't an option and you have to shoot him: you shoot the gun out of his hand! (WHAT?? You can't do that?? Harrumph...then why are you cops!) And the last, last -- LAST -- resort is to shoot him in the arm. Then run to him, treat his wound, and apologize for *having* to shoot him.

{At one time or another I've seen all these stupid fucking comments posted on articles about police shootings.)

======
Anywho, the whole block's outside at 2:00 a.m. raising fucking hell, and yet not one of them missed work this morning. Gee, I wonder how they do that??

The media always happens upon the most credible of witnesses. So credible they "don't need be givin' no statement to no polices". WBBM had one obvious expect community eye witness to the "whole thing" and tells the reporter, "he didn't see no gun in his hand".
It's a shame police have to risk their lives and careers in these battle zones and that just at the crime scene.

Hey old neighbor. Remember way back than, when Reginold Williams was the first black man to move into the apartment building at the end of that block? It mad national news when he said that the white people around there are "uneducated". Guess they weren't that dumb because they got the hell out of there. Wonder if all those current residents are his descendants?

I remember Reginald Williams, possibly 1962. I also remember subsequent rioting. The police would go into John's Food at 5704 S. Halsted and get Fasano Plates. For the younger generation, these were pie pans the pies were delivered in to the store, and would be returned for a deposit. These pans fit pretty perfectly into a police hat. They were very sturdy and could protect some poor coppers head. There were no helmet's yet. I lived in Englewood until Dec. 1976. It was pre-school for the Police Academy. Several life experience degrees obtained at Garfield-Halsted University.

Yeah, pretty heavy stamped steel! I KNOW I had some, have to look, hope they are still around. Had those little holes in them to let the pies cool, and an old exchange phone number like "AB1-2345."

So you got "Onasaf" marked into your head for a while... >grin<
