Ignorant Churchmen

  • Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich says there needs to be stricter gun laws.

The archbishop wrote about his concerns in a piece in the Chicago Tribune. In it he said lawmakers must act, and act quickly, to change how easily guns are bought and sold in this country.

    Wrote Cupich:
Let’s be honest. The Second Amendment was passed in an era when organized police forces were few and citizen militias were useful in maintaining the peace. Its original authors could not have anticipated a time when the weapons we have a right to bear now include military-grade assault weapons that have turned our streets into battlefields. The Second Amendment’s original intent has been perverted by those who, as Pope Francis recently commented, have profited mightily. Surely there is a middle ground between the original intent of the amendment and the carnage we see today.
"military-grade"? Did Phleger white this bullshit?

"battlefields"? Have you ever seen a battlefield?

And Pope Francis who is/was/continues to be protected by armed members of the Swiss Guard and Secret Service agents? Are you for real?

You know what else the Founding Fathers never could have foreseen? The internet. So that whole First Amendment thing must have been perverted seeing as how thousands have profited mightily taking advantage of free speech. The genius of the Constitution is it's simplicity and intent to restrict government power while allowing the entire country to grow around it. Try studying it once instead of the leftist Cliff Notes.

Tell you what Blase, when your churches start paying taxes and punishing molesters according to the laws of the land instead of covering up for decades, we'll grant you a voice in government matters. Until then, shut up, minister to the poor, the downtrodden, the sick, weak, infirm and religiously bereft and stay the hell out of issues you are woefully ignorant about.

Fr. Faker - Priest gets nowhere with his bleating about "guns are bad!" crapola...

So why not move on up to the Archbishop - see if that moron can get some play out of what Faker couldn't eh?

Both of these guys are fools - they need to read their history books about what happens when only the government has firearms... Oh, and they also need to read the Constitution - where WE, THE PEOPLE constituted OUR government. We reserved the right to keep and bear arms for OURSELVES. So screw living in a more 'enlightened time' - guns were needed then, and are needed now.

One need only look around the country to see what hell has been wrought by the nitwit in the white house to realize why we need to be able to defend ourselves against armed criminals...

Whoa there Francis! Child molesters were brought into the seminaries and Church in the 1960's at the time the Roman Catholic Church, as was so much of American society, was hijacked by radicals, leftists and communists. Pedophilia wasn't institutionalized in the Catholic Church, rather it was a sin of men, not a sin of the Church. And as long as the Boys Club of America recieves tax exempt status to have Midnight Tec-9 Cleaning Seminars for gang bangers the Catholic Church should have tax exempt status for establishing and maintaining St. Mary of Nazareth, Miseracordia, Resurrection Hospital, our thousands of great schools and our Chaplins Ministry. Man, and my father thought it was the Beatles that screwed up the entire world....

U.S. priests accused of sex abuse get second chance in South America

September 27, 2015

"RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — The Catholic Church has allowed priests accused of sexually abusing children in the United States and Europe to relocate to poor parishes in South America, a yearlong GlobalPost investigation has found.

"Reporters confronted five accused priests in as many countries: Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Peru. One priest who relocated to a poor parish in Peru admitted on camera to molesting a 13-year-old boy while working in the Jackson, Miss., diocese. Another is currently under investigation in Brazil after allegations arose that he abused disadvantaged children living in an orphanage he founded there [!!!].

"All five were able to continue working as priests, despite criminal investigations or cash payouts to alleged victims. All enjoyed the privilege, respect and unfettered access to young people that comes with being clergy members.

"In the U.S., Catholic leaders have come under intense pressure for concealing priests' sex crimes, and for transferring perpetrators among parishes rather than turning them over to law enforcement. The scandal has cost the church billions of dollars and led to a sharp decline in new clergy."

Tonight I was at a fraternal meeting of senior law enforcement agents and corporate security specialists. The informal discussion among groups as always was lively and thought provoking. One conversation somehow moved from high class cars to high class guns. The idea that no one in this society needs an "assault weapon" needs only to look at Ferguson or Baltimore. Situations where whole sections of cities erupt in violence over one person being killed and the "organized police forces" are not just powerless to prevent death and destruction the rioting hordes are given "room to destroy" by idiot politicians.

An individual citizen needs to be able to defend his home and family when there is a total breakdown of society. A few photos from those cities leaked out of store owners, with no police around holding onto their property by standing guard on their roofs with assault weapons. A couple of old timer recalled the Martin Luther King Riots and their fathers watching the glow of the Westside fires getting closer and having an old shotgun and a World War II souvenir pistol to defend their families.

With social media a rioting mob can be gathered and inflamed very quickly with little excuse. And if they come storming into my home....

It's really very elementary, my Dear Watson!

Enforce the laws already on the books and keep the lawbreakers in prison as they were intended. Stop offering simple probation. Stop plea bargaining for misdemeanors. Stop letting convicts out of prison after serving less than a fraction of their original sentence. Make all sentences for MULTIPLE crimes CONSECUTIVE instead of CONCURRENT.

Ding, ding, ding! Problem solved!

Of course then, they'll have to find new voters to keep the politicians in office.

And wouldn't it be convenient, as FELON George Ryan suggested, if they no longer identified FELONS? Then there would be no reason why a FELON could not vote. The Democrats could set up a polling place in all of the Max prisons in Illinois and keep their cushy government jobs and continue their corruption and thievery.

Politicians (and apparently now the clergy) are as big a problem as the criminals. It has to STOP!

Actually the Constitution was written, Blase, with exactly things like this in mind. The founding fathers were vague on purpose. In fact, the argument fits better with the original intent of the drafters if you say shouldn't schools, that operate with state and federal assistance and often times are actually state run institutions run by government actors, be precluded from prohibiting guns on campus? And shouldn't the argument be made that if every single person, or even just a few, or maybe just one person was armed on these campuses the carnage would be limited to the assailant? That is the more common sense argument. The crazy fucks that go on these rampages would not be stopped or deterred brim "stricter gun laws". Sorry, nice try Obama. And if the right argues the common sense side the media will have a field day with them! The reality is more law abiding citizens need to be encouraged to arm themselves and educated on the right to protect oneself. People like Cupich and Obummer and Hillary are out of touch clowns that have no idea about reality.

Stick to religion not political agendas. Interestingly, you are silent when Christians are being slaughtered in the Middle East by ISIS or Islamic Syria Islamic State. Maybe Christians in the U.S. have a moral obligation to protect themselves and their families via responsible gun ownership. Those massacred in the Middle east were unarmed and confronted by armed extremists who seek to make them and their religion as extinct as dinosaurs.

Instead of worrying about guns, examine the roots causes leading up to this inner city carnage. Single parents, lots of churches but no religious teachings of right from wrong, poverty and despair perpetrated by monthly government generosity, global warming(borrowing this one from the Pontiff), a lack of respect for life, the proliferation of drug/substance/alcohol abuse on someone else dime too name a few. Address these issues via your sermons and homilies and leave the Constitutional stuff alone already. Stop being used as tool by progressives who by the way support abortions and mock, ridicule and impugn Christians each and every opportunity they get.

2nd amendment has zero to do with citizens being cops and everything to do with guarding against government tyranny

10/16/2015 08:03:00 AM<<<

The Second Amendment was first to keep government from treatening the population, to keep the population safe from invading British troops and marauding native raiders.

We now have a government that wants to over govern us, to rob us and take away our rights. ISIS and other foreign terrorists that threaten us, but most of all we have bands of criminals, some of them armed that on come suddenly, in the hundreds or more and destroy whole portions of our cities while government gives them "room to destroy".

There was a National Geographics show on recently about two great blackouts in the Eastern Seaboard and what happened in New York. The first one was before the Johnson Administration and people helped out and directed traffic and few were hurt. The second in 1977 produced riots and looting for no other reason that the darkness hid their faces and security had collapsed. The looting was in three phases. The first group grabbed the valuable stuff like TVs and stereos. The second group grabbed all the essentials like food, shoes and clothes. By this time the store owners had returned to find the third group finding nothing left to steal burned the buildings. That was in 1977 and some of those areas never recovered.

See this documentary if you can and imagine if this were to happen here and now. Tell me you would feel the need for an AK-47 or Benelli Shotgun.

"First rank, FIRE!"

"Second rank, FIRE!"

"Third rank, FIRE!"

Those volleys would lop small trees...and anyone not killed outright was looking at a major amputation from the terrible wound created by that .69-caliber soft lead ball.

There were ongoing changes in weapons technology even at that time; the Founding Fathers were certainly aware of the American citizen-soldier tactic of using the lighter, longer-ranged Kentucky-style rifled-bore pieces to pot at redcoats from cover. Moving along a bit, Abraham Lincoln personally tested the new breech-loading Spencer carbine on the White House grounds, and immediately ordered it for Union troops.

...and as the years went by, '98 Krag, '03 Springfield, M1 Garand, M14, M16, M4...

Far-sighted enough to lay out the ground work for a vast new nation, yet they supposedly "never envisioned" that evil would remain on this earth, and would need to be dealt with.

This is a by-product of another Euro that knows nothing of this Country and it's history or tradition coming here to "lead" and spread their socialist garbage. The criminals here are not the downtrodden and oppressed , they are straight up gangsta's and his divine intervention is not going to "save" them, Further more I find it hysterical that all of these moronic leftys are so focused on an inanimate object that can do nothing without human action. How about going back and looking at what all your "social" programs have brought in to play. Starting with the attitude of entitlement. and the inability to take any personal responsibility for their own actions and inaction's. Why must it ALWAYS be something or someone else's fault ?
The best answer for a "leader" like this is to turn of the money. Sure I will continue attend mass every Sunday but I will NOT donate a single dime to the Church until the Church is receptive to the wants and opinions of all not just the minority

Yo Blase what up?????

How about you apply for a FOID card and then go thru the process of trying to purchase a firearm from a Federally Licensed dealer in Chicago ? Oh that's right there aren't any. But hey if you did try then you would know what laws are in place and how many background checks you have to pass. But hey why let the facts get in the way of Mike Phleger's agenda since he is the one spoon feeding it to you

I have a friend who works for Catholic Charities. They are quietly preparing for an onslaught of refugees from the Middle East. They are looking for places for them to stay and stocking foodstuffs and clothing.

I doubt many of these refugees will become good American Catholics.

I left the church two years ago and never felt better. God and I are one and I don't need a molester to tell me how to connect to God.

Lets be Honest ????? Well if were going to do that how about you Mr . Cupich educate yourself on the issues instead of listening to some ignorant wanna be........... Learn the facts then speak with some intelligence, instead of sounding like some political shill. Do even know what the weapon of choice is for the Gangsta Thugs??? Do you know how many rifles were used in the 400 or so murders Chicago will have this year ?? How about you go down to your boy Mike's place and walk around the streets over there at night and then come back and tell the rest of us how much you enjoyed your visits with the "downtrodden" or roll out to the "Wood" and do a little street preaching maybe. If ya make it back then you can start to solve the real problems instead of blaming a piece of metal the does nothing without human interaction

Really catholic schools are stellar? Look at the top 3 schools in the state. Not one is Catholic. Yes he has a right of speech but take your bullshit pagan religion propaganda somewhere else.

10/16/2015 04:43:00 PM

If The top three schools aren't Catholic schools as you claim, and you actually believe the statistic you put forth, it might be because neither you nor any of your progeny were enrolled in them. I'll take Regina, Fenwick or St. Viator and you can have Latin School, Lane Tech, and Walter Payton. You can spot the graduates of Catholic schools from a mile away. End the denial you're in because you would rather spend $200,000 to put a vinyl sided box atop your puny little ranch house instead of spending it to ensure your children's success and growth. Man, I always thought public schoolers looked like they have two heads...

Hey Cardnial check out Luke 22:36, Jesus speaking at The Last Supper, He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." ♠️

Will the Cardinal tell the new arrivals that they must change to be more like their new country or tell this country they must change to be more like their new arrivals.

"If The top three schools aren't Catholic schools as you claim"

You left out the many other much higher ranked schools than that Jesuit crap; let's see...Northside, Young, Jones, Parker, UC Lab, New Trier, Stevenson, Deerfield, Illinois Math & Science Academy...the list goes on. The is a reason that the enrollment at Catholic schools is tanking and many are shutting down...crappy education and history of church molestation. Truth hurts, my son.

If you look into this for a few, you will find this pattern everywhere. Lutheran Immigration And Refugee Services has a six-story office building, dedicated to bringing 'em in from all over the world as fast as possible. Church ladies in Iowa literally knit socks for "The Lost Boys," nomadic herdsmen from Somalia, "so they won't be cold" -- and then there are problems in the high school about the use of indoor plumbing, and about the local girls being milked, if you know what I mean, in the hallways. Ugly.

Some of the countries generating these "refugees" have vast material resources, minerals, oil, great wealth all concentrated in the upper 1%, foreign investors, and corrupt dictators building themselves palaces with solid-gold faucets -- that sort of thing. Invisible behind the tinted windows of their limousines, which bounce down the rutted dirt street past the tin-and-cardboard huts, scattering goats out of the way. They have the means to transform their nations -- but Emperor Pooh-Bah would rather splash in the pool behind the spiked fences, or go skiing in Switzerland.

Saw one US-based Evangelistic Christian web site with a big world map of all the countries they concern themselves with -- which did not include the United States. Needy Americans just get a "DONATE" button to click.

Hundreds and hundreds of these outfits, all connected and interlocked together. A lot comes in the top, but little trickles out of the bottom of the funnel. Many groups absorb a good deal of what they take in in their own fat salaries for "directors" and "coordinators" and "facilitators." They gather at banquets, displaying their dentition for the cameras as they hand each other little plaques and "awards."

"Charity begins at home."

Catholic Church clean up your own back yard and jump a few centuries forward to the current time before commenting on current issues. The Old Boys network of priests molesting boys and just being hidden somewhere else in another parish or another state was and continues to be shameful. I haven't been to church in 20 years as a result.

* * * COMMENT OF THE WEEK * * *

Boy, you got it right between the eyes. When I was a kid, the congregation got a blast from the pulpit against dirt and immorality, and then we were sworn in to the Legion Of Decency. There actually was such a thing.

...and Bishop Fulton Sheen delivered fiery anti-Communist sermons on the black-and-white Magnavox TV at home.

Then Vatican II came along, and the church filled up with stupid felt banners and gee-tar masses and firebrand-radical young priests leading demonstrations and the "liberation theology" that today is especially prevalent in Latino churches; I have pictures of the Che Guevara banners being carried in their "religious" processions, all mixed together with the "No Human Being Is Illegal" squawking over the bullhorns -- and the gun-control archbishops and the child molesters and the empire-building Father Pflegers that the Church leaves in place for decades, afraid to follow their own rules and move these characters along.

Yeah, like you say, I "can't relate" to this sort of thing either.

"Surely there is a middle ground between the original intent of the amendment and the carnage we see today." Surely the same can be said for the 15th Amendment with regards to illegals and the crimes they commit. Michael Gordon would be alive today if it weren't for an illegal. But the LEFT will grant them amnesty in route to citizenship.
