- Police in Columbus, Ohio, were investigating how a 13-year-old boy wanted for questioning Wednesday night in an armed robbery ended up fatally shot by an officer.
The child — later identified by Columbus police as Tyre King — had "pulled a gun from his waistband" when officers attempted to take him and another male into custody, the Columbus Division of Police said in a statement. As the encounter unfolded, an officer shot King "multiple times."
The weapon recovered from the scene was determined to be a BB gun with an attached laser sight, Columbus Police Chief Kim Jacobs said at a news conference Thursday morning.
Wanted for questioning, was the describe offender in an armed robbery minutes before, laser sight on the gun - but it'll all be the fault of police because, you know, he was just turning his life around, blah blah blah.

"The gazebo where 12-year-old Tamir Rice was fatally shot by the police in Cleveland has been dismantled. The structure, which became a makeshift memorial after his death, is being moved to a "cultural center" in Chicago.
"CHICAGO — At first, Samaria Rice wanted the park gazebo where her son, Tamir, was fatally shot by the Cleveland police [after she let him out of the house with a large black pistol] in 2014 to simply disappear.
“I just really wanted it destroyed,” she said last week. “I didn’t want to see it ever again. It was a bad memory for me and a bad memory for that neighborhood, especially for the children.”
"Over time, Ms. Rice has changed her mind. So this week, the gazebo, which still draws visitors bearing memorial flowers and stuffed animals, is being painstakingly taken apart and boxed up. It will eventually be reconstructed here, in Chicago, as part of a growing arts bank on this city’s South Side.

"(CNN)Sandra Bland's family [all of whom put together would not come up with $500 bail] has reached a $1.9 million settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit -- an agreement that has brought "joy" after a year of grief, Bland's mother said.
"Bland was found dead [hanged herself with a plastic bag] in her jail cell three days after she was pulled over for failing to use her turn signal in July 2015 [and refused to cooperate with a lawful order to exit her vehicle]."

Yes it is. The cop was found pretty much without fault in this. The county jail paid because they ignored her crying and refusing to eat and the fact she stated upon admission that she attempted suicide in the past. There is some liability with the jail for sure. No one wants there family member to kill themselves because of depression and be ignored by the jailers.

The TV news kept referring to Tyre King as holding a "toy gun." A BB gun is NOT a "toy gun." A BB gun is a weapon that shoots a metal projectile that is capable of causing great bodily harm or death, especially if the projectile goes into someone's eye socket.
Bringing that gazebo here is perfect for chicago, better known as the "curators of death." It should fit quite well along with our other museums, such as the drive by shooting museum, the gangland culture museum, and the public housing museum. Maybe if we turn the entire south side into a museum campus, the shootings will stop.

I am not kidding about that replica, as photoed side-by-side with the real thing. Absolute 1:1 reproduction, right down to each screw head, and the replica had an MMC adjustable rear target sight, not just the "whack-it-in" GI rear sight blade. Skeletonized replacement trigger, and Picatinny rails too, if I recall correctly. Even more up-to-date than the plain service pistol.
Whatever the Chinese got hold of, ran on CMM (coordinate measuring machine), transferred the results to CAD files, and then ran off molding dies on a 6-axis CNC mill.
Had me damn near convinced under a strong light on the bench. On the street, dynamic situation -- no time for questions. Period.
