Walking Guns

An amusing bit of information coming in from the scene of 019's double fatal shooting:
  • Despite there being spent brass all over the place from  extensive use of both weapons, no gun was located on or near either individual. It seems a concerned citizen walked up on the carnage, pocketed both guns, and disappeared into the night.
That is typical Chicago. And it points to the fact that "guns walk" away from crime scenes by means of other offenders, accomplices or someone just out looking for an opportunity for something to steal.

And this happens at shootings where someone points a gun at the police and then passes the gun along when he ducks out of sight. Or it gets picked up by some third party when pitched by an offender. Opportunities abound for mischief....we're just saying.

The guns did not walk away.

These two upstanding citizens were unarmed when they were shot by the super ninja secret Chicago police unit.
The police made it look like a two person shooting because of Top Secret reasons.
Top Secret reasons we can't tell you.

Speaking of "guns", shots fired in the central business district and areas around the mag mile have now become common place but one over the past weekend took it up a notch. Seems someone took out a window on the 38th floor of the 150 N. Michigan Ave building with a high powered rifle, possibly a 308 by the looks of the found round. And from the trajectory indicated by the holes left behind, the shot probably came from an adjacent high rise. Pres Trump might want to avoid his name sake building in our wonderful sanctuary city for a while as it seems it is also in the line of sight of the suspected building where the round came from. Target practice anyone?

Am I right? Huh?

Anyway, it would appear that the new hatred of the police has now broadened to include hatred of the military.

Attacked for serving his country: Soldier, 19, was beaten by '15 men who spotted his army jacket' - just days after a kind-hearted stranger flew him home to spend Christmas with his widowed mom

* Austin Freni, 19, was attacked by a gang in Philadelphia on Sunday, his mom said
* She said they mocked his Army jacket just before the assault occurred
* He will need to have his jaw wired shut and plates put in it, she added
* Freni had been flown to his mom's in New Jersey from his base in Georgia
* A stranger had paid for the ticket after coming across a GoFundMe account
* He was due to fly to the Middle East in the New Year

SCC: Everything of value walks in the hood. I've seen copper plumbing systems in buildings we are constructing take a walk overnight and are long gone when we return the next morning. Hell, I have had tools take a hike on me when I am inside working and come out for lunch. At least the truck is still there, most times. I hate working in that shit hole with its "Chicago Values" but its PREMIUM pay and as long people over pay me I will work there.

Heck a gun disappears at a crime scene? It is no surprise a moron would rather have the gun than a tape measure he is too stupid to read or sell to another moron who cannot read it. (Good work CPS) People with "Chicago Values" are for sure ignorant but they are not that ignorant.

Take the gun, leave the tape measure and my canolli.

Hold everything!! We now have proof that the anti-gun folks are right.

Two previously law abiding guns went rogue and escaped from their secure storage place, loaded themselves and then made their way to Uptown. They managed to murder two upstanding citizens before scampering away and returning home.

They likely unloaded and cleaned themselves to avoid arousing suspicion too.

Thank goodness they weren't those evil, black ghost rifles with million round capacity clip magazines that can fire a thousand bullets in a half a second!!

Can we do a "No Confidence" already? How many other cops will have to be stripped and face horrible circumstances on and off duty before the rest of us care? Nowadays we are having more off duty incidents because no one cares about our profession anymore. Before we were respected, now we are really struggling. We must unite or nothing will be accomplished. We are in state of crisis.

1/03/2017 12:13:00 AM

No, it won't.

That sergeant in 007 was a stupid ass and he justly deserves whatever happens to him. He was responding to a call of a battery in progress and then one subject runs away and decides to chase him. Everyone else just scattered and ran away also. Now you tell me, was that a smart move on his part? Even if he caught the dude, what is he going to charge him with? Surely the "victim" is probably long gone and even if the "victim" was found, chances are, the "victim" won't sign complaints and will engage in some street justice.

And before you use the excuse of "well he was just doing his job" reply- let me address that. The playing rules for us police officers has changed considerably. If someone told you that the rules of the game were changed for the benefit of the other team at your expense and you are at a huge disadvantage then a smart person would not even step on to the playing field.

Yet despite it all, some officers still engage in foot chases, vehicle chases, arresting dude for the usual bullshit, etc. Go ahead dummies, keep at it.

I'm going back some years ago, when my partner was involved in an off-duty shooting. He was walking back to his vehicle from a 7-11 when an armed robbery approached with gun in hand and demanded money. After taking cover, he was able to shot and kill the offender. He requested bystanders to call 911 and protected the scene. Prior to the police arriving, he had to threaten three different people who were trying to grab the gun of the offender. This is so common I'm surprised that Sgt. who shot the offender he said had a gun is not being given the benefit of a doubt.

Special Ed can tout thousand of guns recovered last year.
If the media had any integrity they would report this phenomenon of disappearing weaponry. But they don't.
They are still on the obama Anti-Police bandwagon, same as the mayor.
I'm sure some b-l-m allied alderstooge or columnist is certain that this double murder was perpetrated by racist Police, that's why there's no evidence. Morons of the media will buy that theory rather than do any investigative journalism.
Trib was quick to report yesterday that two UNARMED folks were killed by Police to start the New Year.
They decry that 780 murders were committed on the underserved streets, but fail to mention that many of those dead were almost certain to be Unarmed thugs contributing to the violence. There was mention some dead thugs were on Special Ed's 1400 SSL Club, but then at that rate, half should be dead by now, right? By Special Ed's rational that's a 50% reduction.

I say so what as long as we remain safe, It's Rahm Emanuels problem, gun or no gun recovered and no arrests... is all on him.
GMac once told a grad group that we crime fighters should abstain from the attitude of "It's us against them".
True, in fact now or for the past 8 years it's been Them against Us.
Stay safe.

. Gary McCarthy was found “guilty” in March 2006 over an traffic altercation he had in 2005 with two New Jersey police officers. A traffic court judge ruled that Gary McCarthy had blocked vehicular traffic with his police-issued car while he and his wife confronted two plainclothes members of the Palisades Interstate Police at a gas station along the Palisades Interstate Parkway. The officers in question had just issued a summons to McCarthy’s 19-year-old daughter, who was driving another car and became verbally confrontational toward the two police officers whom in essence were enforcing the law. When Gary McCarthy had arrived on scene he was clearly irate and violently confrontational and had to be grabbed by the two police officers whom also confiscated McCarthy’s firearm and handcuffed him as well as restrained his wife when she attempted to grab the gun from the two police officers. The judge fined McCarthy $200 for blocking traffic.

McCarthy’s wife Regina – was charged with “unreasonable noise” – when she verbally abused and cursed at the Palisades Park Police during the entire incident. Most disturbing is the fact that she had attempted to retrieve Gary McCarthy’s confiscated firearm from an Official Police Vehicle while Gary McCarthy was fighting with one officer. Regina McCarthy had to be physically thrown to the ground as she fought with the officer over the firearm and rear cuffed face down on the ground. My question is what was her intention if she had obtained complete control of that weapon which was a 9mm handgun? Was she going to shoot the officers, break Gary McCarthy free, or just hold the officers at gun point? That is a very, very, frightening thought to comprehend!

"I'm going back some years ago, when my partner was involved in an off-duty shooting.

I'm going to call bullshit on that one, any one with 1/2 Brain in their skull would've recovered the weapon. I know from 1st hand experience.

First hand experience from what? If you pick up the weapon they will say you planted the weapon and you put your DNA on it. Stand over it, gun drawn star visible and hope to God you hear what the nuns in my elementary school called, "Count your blessings sirens".

Studies have shown that officers in plain clothes are safer if they have their badge visible at chest level, on a vest or neck chain rather than on a belt carrier. This helps avoid blue on blue fire incidents.

Off-Topic.

Has any CPD retiree, who decided to pay for the BC/BS medical insurance previously subsidized by the city, received a new benefits card?

1/03/2017 04:03:00 PM

Yes, I have received both my BCBS Supplement Plan F card and my RX Premium Plan+ card. It will be easier to switch back and get bills paid if we win our case than if I was to have that AETNA plan Dean Angelo was selling. I wouldn't trust anything he was selling.

Now if we could just get President Trump to restore our full Social Security Benefits.

Channel 5 needs to hire qualified reporters
F/B reporter describes a armed violent home invasion , sexual assault that occurred in Bucktown on Sunday at 11:00pm
She asks for help from community to call area north detectives with any information
She was unable to provide any information about offender , no age , height, weight facial hair , hair color or Race .
Again are citizens of Chicago to assume all armed violent criminals are black or is she just an unqualified news reporter taking a job from a more qualified investigative reporter .

Wow. Can you be that naive? City Hall controls the news media and have for a long time now.

Only white offenders are to be described, lest vast minority voting blocks be offended.

Active officers received a letter stating, " the cards are on the way." Typical city can't do anything on time.

I was the first car on the scene and secured the weapon. The copper I think was in a little shock and thought picking up the gun would contaminate the scene. Above is correct, he was acting stupid.

Who's more dangerous?

This one?

Or the one who came to work with the pieces of her
field stripped pistol in a plastic grocery bag?

Or the one who admitted that she never carried her pistol
with a round chambered because she was afraid Dude would
get it and use it on her?

Watch Commanders were aware and kept trying to put them
on beat cars so they could have a baby-sitter instead of
initiating the process to get them removed from the job.

So damned difficult getting unfit/unsound people off this job.

Maybe if background investigators and their supervisors
are made to wear the shirt for these people getting through.

But then again, vigorous pre-employment screening
is "racist" and unfair.
