Bond = Violence

  • A Tribune analysis of five years of booking data at Cook County Jail found that at least 1 in 10 of those who were arrested and bonded out on gun charges committed serious crimes within a year — then bonded out of jail yet again. The vast majority of suspects were arrested on new gun charges.

    The analysis also found that gang members facing felony gun charges often had little problem coming up with the cash to get out of jail, while nonviolent thieves and others languished behind bars, unable to post much lower bonds.

    And prosecutors rarely ask where the money came from. By contrast, in major drug cases, they routinely request hearings to determine the source of bail money.
And amazingly, they're touting Dart as a driving force behind the "reform," missing the efforts of Dart and Prickwrinkle to empty the jail, Evans for allowing low bonds to be set, and the jail for decreasing capacity, tearing down three divisions along with running at critically low staffing levels.

We guess some leaps are just a little too far for the media, seeing as how so many of them have spouses or children earning six-figure incomes from Dart.

Seriously, what the hell are the prosecutors doing? Decades ago, there used to be employees tasked with evaluating the source of funds or property used to secure bail bonds.

It's a shame that the POSs released from County can't seem to find their benefactors to thank them. Only then will the catch and release policy change.

Why even bother arresting gun offenders if they're going to get back on the street and then not get any serious time because of the prosecutors? Just catch'em, take their guns and write'em a ticket for ugly in public or something like that. They won't show up anyway and wouldn't be prosecuted if they did show up.

My kid got arrested in Jackson County while attending Southern Illinois University. I had a long talk with him before dropping him off at the start of his freshman year that "they don't play down there". Needless to say he got into trouble. I went to court with him and saw a roomful of offenders wearing black and white striped jail attire, handcuffed with leg irons being held for a month awaiting trial on class B and C misdemeanors. I think Cook County needs to do the same and stop giving I bonds out like candy. Crime will certainly drop to record low levels. Just sayin. Ps. Warn your kids going to school in these hick towns that it doesn't matter who daddy is. At least it didn't in my kids case.

Here's a thought (it will NEVER happen, so rather than a thought, it's a fantasy) - a lot of liberals (especially in Congress) crow about the NRA and the Repub's love of guns - bring them here on a "field trip" to see what's going on in the jails and have them take a trip through Englewood, etc. at night (hell, maybe even downtown the way it's going) - would be lovely to see them have a change of heart (yeah right).

Tom Dart is now trying to cover his ass after emptying the jail. Now he's a self proclaimed crime fighter!!! And Billy Cunningham was the driving force behind Rocket Docket legislation that emptied the jail of prior gun offenders. Now the tide is turning and these politician's do a complete 180. CYA time..

Thank the great J. Skinny Sheahan for Dart and Cunningham. Skinny put these two idiot liberals in office. The same Skinny who bragged about voting for Trump but earns a living putting liberal scumbags in office. Yeah we all heard about Tuna and Skinny predicting Trump's victory.. Hey Skinny, if your such a political genius how did you not know Dart was a certifiable nut case when you pushed in into office. You screwed over your brother Mike by backing that clown. Your brothers reputation is forever destroyed Ala Dart. Good job!

Lazy Fake News.
That analysis is probably10 years old that someone found it in file left behind from a laid off ex-employee.
The recidivism probability is obviously much higher than they claim and the Demographic that is re-committing the crimes is a mystery.
Rahm doesn't want finger pointing...it's insensitive.

Dart hires the scum bag liberal media types because that right out of no bomas playbook. The vast majority of the White House staff were liberals married to media types. He even hired little andy shaws daughter for a White House job🙉🙈🙊. So what type of stories do you think they will write for their master

Speaking of Tom Dart as a nut case. About 9 years ago he entered the square lockup area there was numerous officers. I thought it was him but not sure as he looked scruffy and was relatively new Sheriff at the time. Nobody was rude but not overly friendly to him either. I think some didn't like him and others were nervous or really had no clue who he was. Out of nowhere he goes off and starts yelling at people for not acknowledging his presence. It was bizarre as he really looked like he was having a manic episode. I was waiting for him to laugh at first thinking it was a joke but he just walked out and did not say a word. I really cant believe to this day the Sheriff of Cook County cpuld be that crazy but i witnessed it firsthand.

Dart is an incompetent Sheriff & Leftist Patsy. He is responsible for the problems at the jail. Hold him accountable! He should be punished for the pizza party he gave CRIMINALS! He must be removed from office.
