No One Was Chasing

The Tribune tries to play fair, but you can see it pains them to do it:
  • Someone driving a stolen car and fleeing an area where police responded to a shots-fired call crashed into another car, killing its 18-year-old driver and injuring his 20-year-old passenger, police said.

Police saw the car fleeing the area of 127th and Halsted streets as they arrived to a shots-fired call about 8:45 p.m. Friday, according to a release from the Chicago Police Department.

That car fled west and ran a red light before hitting a Toyota Camry a couple of blocks away, at 127th and Throop streets. The Camry then hit a 2003 Saturn. It's not clear whether police tried to curb the stolen car before the crash.
  • A police chase that began on the far South Side ended in a deadly crash in Calumet Park Friday night.

Chicago police say officers responding to a call about shots fired in the West Pullman neighborhood just before 9 p.m. Friday saw a white Ford SUV speed away from the area at 127th and Halsted.
Police respond to calls of "Shots Fired" all the time. Responding to a call IS NOT a chase. Some officers go to the scene to quickly render aid and maybe catch someone fleeing on foot. Other officers respond in a deliberate manner, noting out cars that might be leaving the area, asking passersby which way the suspects fled, looking for things that seem out of place.

Seeing a car flying at 50, 60, 70 MPH from a shooting scene might be a shooter, or it might be the victim, or it might be someone transporting the victim. It might even be a witness scared out of their minds and getting out of the kill zone. Cops responding to the scene where no flash message has been given might make note of this and turn their car around to pursue, but the distance this car traveled in literally seconds, no copper was in anything that might be called a pursuit.

Momma, of course, is already saying the police should have just let them go, without having a shred of evidence that there was actually a pursuit. Not a whit of blame for the people driving the hot car at murderous speeds - just that the cops should have "Let em go."

That's the world we live in now - shots fired? Let em go. Hot cars? Let em go. Murderer escaping the scene? Let em go. And even if you do Let em go, you'll be blamed for even responding to the area.

Let it Burn.

Don't tell them that in 011. Nothing as silly as a general order will stop them from chasing dozens of times per day. Do yourselves a favor guys. Log on to caboodle. Poke around and you will come across a gps screen. Input your name, or your star, even the car number. Click around and you will see where your squad is, where it WAS, how fast you were going and at what time. Saying "I'm not or I wasn't chasing" just won't cut it anymore. Wait until you guys get your body cams as well..... face it, the city wants report takers.

Listen to the clip circulating on social media on brodcastify from zone 9. Yes, it was a chase. I hope they made it a chase and didn't try the just following stuff because they were yelling, calling out all the directions and the revving and siren are heard perfectly in the recording. It was a chase. U can chase for that, but I hope it wasn't made something else by a lazy Sgt or timid POs. State law says you can chase for certain things, this being one of them.

Drones. The technology is here ( or real close) but is the political will to have them in the air in certain communities observing present? You can probably develop software to lock onto and follow a target. It would be interesting to see a drone follow some offender right into his house and keep watch until a physical grab is made. All with video evidence.

J-FLED's "gotta run" was just a prediction of future policing. It was cowardice back then, but now, he might of had the right idea, sort of like the spearhead of "stay fetal." Even so, do not say his name three times in a row, otherwise you know what will happen!

If I ever had the time to put down that extra Large Coffee, with my Donut I was eating while reading some insensitive police info rag. The first thing I thought about when I pulled up to another out of control situation sponsored by that group of physics professors that haunts everyone. Was how will this situation get me jammed up and hung out to dry. Its impossible if you are the police. So enjoy your donut coffee and what your reading, (YAWNING!) Chasing cars through highly populated areas is dangerous for the po's as well as the public!! When you're banved up for life or an innocent citizen is killed the criminal is blamed but it won't fix injuries or bring the dead person back! Quit chasing cars!!!! And don't cry when a supervisor pulls the chase ticket & you get hit with time for not following the GO's

SCC - Your observation that WGN slants their coverage to a "renegade cop report" is correct. Their sister station CLTV is also covering chases and shootings as an episode of "cops gone wild." Is this a coincidence after WGN's traffic dolly was promoted to news anchor on the early morning news show? The problem with Ch. 9 is that their "news" programming is now aired 10 hours each day so there are many viewers who are exposed to their venom.

The political class just does not want any adverse fallout or unintended consequences from any police action. The average every day carnage and mayhem usually does not make the media. But, when a innocent citizen, or in some cases not so innocent citizen is killed by any police action, well, that is news worthy and the media will play it up as bad as they can. I worked a side job as a bank guard. The bank does not want you to engage any stick up men at all .You are just there as a symbol. Insurance will cover any bank loses. The bank does not want you to engage in any gunplay or attempt to stop the criminal as they fear, unintended consequences, a bullet hits grandma cashing her social security check, and bad news coverage. I see a resemblance here.

Not being a cop, you have apparently have never been introduced or met the ghetto mentality. It is ALWAYS about money. The lawyer gets a call from the family before the body is even released to a funeral home or revenge is planned and enacted. And, the funeral will not take place until the undertaker has the money in hand, no exceptions, either from the lawyer or after the family takes a collection from relatives, which can take weeks.

–. Hardly a prediction, the man was chickenshit and a staunch supporter of obama. Rahm coined Being Fetal, another chickenshit and supporter. J-Pudd was brought as a hatchet man to build a west coast style, less agreesive police force.
There is no future for policing, rather a de-policing and a stop to interferings with the Fundamentally Changed America.

1. shell out big bucks for a real attorney, then worry about a lawsuit ,maybe lose the house, car, etc, and have it on their consence about the loss of a life who had nothing to do with it.

2. Nothing. who gives a shit, Ford has 11 missing cars from their lot, for over a year, plus they have insurance. the rats who took it will eventually get whats coming to them

Number two!!!!!!!
