Theory Fails VERY Badly
A new high is a new low for Chicago. This is Channel 7 the other day:
- "The goal was to get them off the street so the rest of the city can have a safe 4th of July," said Organized Crime Bureau Chief Anthony Riccio.
CPD says most of those targeted have committed some sort of drug offense. In some cases they are the gang leaders. In others the so-called gang shooters.
Fifty eight arrests were made just Monday. Of these, police say 38 are convicted felons and 10 had prior gun-related convictions.
- Chicago saw one of its most violent Fourth of July weekends in recent years: At least 101 people shot between Friday afternoon and early Wednesday, nearly half of them over 12 hours as the long holiday drew to a close. Fifteen of the wounded died.
The last time the Fourth holiday spanned four full days was in 2013, when July 4 fell on a Thursday and many people had Friday off. At least 74 people were shot between Wednesday evening and early Monday that year, and 12 of them died, according to Tribune data.

Rather than arrest the thugs for a few hours or days, do it right the first time.

Now Rahm is realizing that maybe the guys on the street know more about the ghetto then the talkers but has backed himself into a corner. ALL these people/groups want a consent decree because Rahm pushed it and let these people get the message, his message, out. Now he seems to have realized how much a "fetal" police force isn't working. That maybe policing isn't always pretty but that doesn't mean it's wrong. So now Rahm has to decide: give the people on the sideline their decree that he let them demand with his blessing or be a man and actually help those doing the actual battle. It's a lesson Rahm never learned in Wilmette: those with skin in the game will fight for you if they know you will fight for them. Unfortunately for Rahm he has given everything to those with no skin in the game and now it's badly biting him in the ass. He needs the "enemy" but he made his deal with Satan already.
What good is arresting these criminals, when they get bonded out in a couple of hours, because Preckwinkle and Foxx say there are too many black and brown in jail!

Retired 640 here. All the specialized units under Patrol were sent to Navy Pier and to close parks at night. Tact and Gang teams directing traffic outside of Navy Pier? You'll never find guns in the bad guys hands that way. Navarro and Waller are in so over their heads it's sad. There is only one answer...more blue shirts in beat cars. The problem is Rahm will not pay for it. The dwarf will keep looking for more "progressive" solutions supported by "community policing computer models". Yes...the media goes for that double talk.

It really is amazing that there is no public outrage over all of these innocent people being shot and killed. This command staff is a joke. Navarro blamed it on warm "weather and alcohol." Rick o doesn't have a clue. I remember when he was a Deputy. Brief in the Detective Division and he came out to introduce the plan to close two Detective Divison Areas. He had that fake smile on saying, "this is going to be great." How's that working out? He currently has Kennedy as a gang intel/enforcement Commander. You can ask just about everyone in the unit and they'll say the same thing, "nice guy but not a clue about gangs." Maybe we should have someone that actually knows about gangs in their since this appears to be our number one problem in the city, gangs guns and drugs right. He'll bring back triple merit Sanchez already at least he's has some knowledge about gangs.
They didn't lock up the wrong 58 people. In fact by locking them up they probably cut the shootings by about 50%. There may have been 150 shot without any of those arrests.
So next time they should lock em all up.
According to what Channel 9 has been running it cost the taxpayers about $5OK per person shot in medical bills in just emergency rooms.So let's say some people may not need intense medical treatment it will still cost taxpayers about $4 million dollars. Now that's just over the 4th. The price tag for all this violanance is staggering. The City is broke, the State is broke and this nonsense cost taxpayers over one billion dollars a year. What do our great leaders do? Have marches?, blame police? How about using the race card? Don't forget guns, those guns they just keep roaming around shooting people. These so called "raids", are a fraud! And here is why (media pay close attention):
Historically, Narcotics teams conducted daily "buy-busts". These buy-busts consisted of an undercover officer buying narcotics on a dope spot and then immediately arresting the seller after the undercover left the scene. Sounds simple, right? Offender sells drugs to undercover officer and he is immediately arrested and off the street.
Fast forward to the Supt. McCarthy era, where nothing but numbers and appearances matter. Now, Narcotics teams again conduct "buy-busts" but there is no immediate arrest. Instead, the dope seller is identified by the enforcement unit and he is let go to continue selling drugs for several more days or weeks!! All of the narcotics teams pool their identified drug sellers(maybe you could have 50 or so identified after two weeks)and then a "raid" is announced!! The media foams at the mouth!! Look at what CPD is doing! They got 50 guys in one fell swoop! Unfortunately, those 50 guys were left on the street to continue selling drugs for days or weeks after being identified. This is all being done to make it look like CPD is making major busts, when in reality all it is, is deferred enforcement! These "raids" are a total sham!
Thus endeth the lesson...
I guess they could always say how bad it would have been if they had not made all these arrests, which is even scarier.

Patrol is decimated. Doesn't really matter when it comes to crime. One weekend there were 1300 more po's on duty and another 1,000 more on duty and it changed nothing. Just as many shootings and murders. Those numbers are more than Rahm is planning on hiring. The positive is with additional police more payi ng into pension and hopefully no more do cancelled

Kimmie will prosecute if you are exempt rank. A woman shoved a police commander in the face during a disturbance at Montrose harbor after a boating incident. According to the report no injuries were sustained but she charged with aggravated battery of a police officer and held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

spot on. People apply and complete several.interviews in hopes of getting into Homan Sq. Saturation people with ZERO TIME on the job and very little to NO EXPERIENCE doing anything get to stay in and are put on teams. Big F'N joke all those units have become, especially 189!

If I was one of the 58 being arrested, I would get a Lawyer and demonstrate arresting me was nothing but discrimination. It didn't changing a fucking thing and this is just me, but how can the department get away with just grabbing 58 alleged bad guys and not have the ACLU down their throats. I hope they filled out contact cards, someone might be stripped.
