Why?

We know it's not usually proper to question orders, unless the orders are obviously illegal.

Or nonsensical:
  • The attached Amended Decorum Order applies to all employees of the Chicago Police Department. All Chicago Police Department employees are prohibited from releasing or authorizing the release of statements, documents, exhibits, photographs, videos or any evidence related to the case of People of the State of Illinois v. Shomari Legghette (18CR3494). All employees of the Chicago Police Department are prohibited from expressing opinions or commenting publicly outside of court about the merits or facts of the case. Anyone in violation of this Court Order may be subject to Contempt of Court. This AMC message and the attached order are to be posted in the C. O. Book. Moreover, the message and the order are to be read at all roll calls for seven (7) consecutive days.
We don't know what this was all about. The media must have gotten hold of restricted materials or something similar.

So without expressing an opinion or commenting about the merits or facts of the case, can someone tell us why the Department is bending over backwards for this piece of garbage while simultaneously aiding and abetting the current narratives regarding Van Dyke and Rialmo?

We're just curious about the double-standard being applied so blatantly.

It's a violation of the right to free speech. Fresno State University just gave the same excuse for not disciplining one of their professors who went on a tirade about Barbara Bush. They said she acted as a private citizen when she posted online and therefore would not be disciplined. But the CPD puts out a court order prohibiting its employees from expressing opinions or commenting outside of court about the case. That's ridiculous and a clear violation of free speech.

I read the court order. It is widely open to interpretation but legal jargon efficient for them to say, or not say the order was violated by anyone they choose who dare even think about this case. The Department has in essence removed your (our) First Amendment rights as they in effect have forbidden you to dare speak any opinion, even personal opinion, with or without first hand knowledge or information. You will not speak your personal opinion to anyone, publically or privately; ever. You dare even clear your throat in reference to this case, the (he who shall not be named) offender or offenders or any idea, concept, speculation of past, present or future acts, less you be held in contempt of court and now in violation of Department orders. That in itself will be subject for termination of course. But boy oh boy, what a money maker that will be. Huge pain in the ass but the lawsuit one could bring for having their first amendement right to a personal opinion intentionally stifled by the government----- cha-ching $$$$$. These 2 people a mother and father are in heaven but the drum beats of the mob at that paper will not stop searching for anything else! Let them RIP pos reporters!

As far as JVD and Rialmo go the police board girl Eva delgado is doing everything she can to destroy police she could of got some sense but she never will, they are all rahms pets and jump and obey not to hard to see! In another thread you read how rahm the bully would threaten a man in a shower when he was the head bully in Washington, a man with cancer naked and rahm pressing his thumb in the mans chest, no wonder he has 9 fingers if that clown was served justice that man would of broken off his hand and made him 4 fingers!

rahm mayor of the city with repressed anger, has anyone made sure he is not carrying a weapon? Search him for a gun, knife, bat, vase yes they are all deadly weapons in a crazed persons hands! What kind of rich kid raised in a rich white suburb was a ballerina and claims the wedding dress is he?

The trial matters not, because at most he will receive Life in prison. The elimination of Capital Punishment ended any real justice for murder. And let's not forget, Democrats eliminated the Death Penalty. Shomari, is a chunk of human waste, and should have been prosecuted federally. The Feds still have a Death Penalty, and use it on political cases. A Life Sentence is not always for Life. Recently an individual who was convicted of killing two cops in New York, was released at the age of 73. A Life Sentence means that Shomari may yet be set free. While our Commander will still be dead, and his daughter will never have her father back. Stay safe, and never forget that Rahm hates you more than criminals! Baby "G"

I.M.O. this gag order will help to convict this "BASTARD" on a more efficient and welcome fashion. Allowing all the evidence to seep out will only hurt the prosecutors case and there fore assist the "BASTARD" in getting a mistrial or some other complication of what should be an easily and reasonable guilty verdict on all counts!
IF NOT THEN THERE SHOULD BE HELL TO PAY!
AT THE SAME TIME I WONDER IF THE DEFENSE WONT TRY TO TARNISH THE COMMANDER IN THE PRESS.....IF THAT HAPPENS ALL BETS SHOULD BE OFF!!!!

Even as the police you have a freedom of expression although it may have SOME limitations. Suppress my freedom of expression go F**** Yourself. So one of the lines in the order says you may not EXPRESS OUTSIDE OF COURT AN OPINION OR MAKE ANY COMMENT OF PUBLIC DISSEMINATION PERTAINING TO ANY GUILT, PAST SENTENCE OR POTENTIAL SENTENCE OF SHOMARI LEGGHETTE. Here's my opinion...the guy was sentenced to 16 years in prison and served 3 or 4 and was released, if he was in jail like he should have been because of his less than minimum sentencing Paul Bauer would be alive today. The courts, county and our probation/parole boards have Commander Bauers blood on their hands. My opinion and my first amendment right. Too bad. Officers step up and exercise your right. We won't be silenced!

So how much money do we have to do this, not much so don't count on our FOP to do anything. You answered your own question. "Double standards" are the domain of the communist democrat party. Trace this crap back up its tree and you'll find it in a democrat nest of corruption. They have no problem being known liars as they learned from the most corrupt. "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan".
The shit is going to hit the fan, but not soon enough!

Thank you.

When Rham first ran for Congress, his uncle Lester appeared in a campaign commercial asking people to vote for Rham. Old uncle was off duty, in uniform, still on the department and exercising his 1st Amendment Rights. Have Johnson and Rham taken away our rights? How ‘bout it FOP?

What is the story w McCarthy? Rahm has to go but we need to get together - not sure who. Police and Fire should help resudents (those w brains). This has become wayyyy beyond war. We need a mayor.

4/25/2018 01:42:00 AM

The CPD doesn't put out court orders. A judge issued the court order. You don't have free speech on matters that a judge decides you can't discuss due to your position as a law enforcement officer for the department involved with the case. There's no court order preventing Fresno State professors from discussing a dead former first lady.

Oh boy, I will take a busload of people to McCarthys fundraiser, I wouldn't spend the price of a postage stamp on him. He is an arrogant east coast jerk. Why do we want or need an out of towner for mayor. All these minorities running are shills. RAHM WILL GET ANOTHER TERM.THIS SNEAKY PRICK HAS ALREADY BOUGHT THE SPOT.

4/25/2018 08:12:00 AM

Umm... we currently have an out-of-towner for mayor. Are you new here?

Sounds like a court order (not Department policy) designed to prevent Legghette from arguing he couldn’t get a fair trial because of publicity from leaks by police sources. One less argument for Legghette.

Exactly. I won’t say anything. However, my wife says that piece of shit should fry like bacon on a skillet.

Anyone that contributes to his salary is a sucker. Only in Chicago can they have a set up like that. BTW its $174,000 a year and good luck getting a management promotion if you dont contribute.

Guess who will be holding the money when

----------
Postage stamp. You could always send a
Chicago Tourist Postcard, but the card costs
more than the postage. A good way to spread
a rumor thru the Post Office.
