VRI Gutted?

Supposedly cut down to twenty-four officers on a nightly basis? Seems they're very serious about cutting OT, even for a couple months. They did this a year or two ago. The body count was amazing.

Once the warm weather hits and the wilding crowds head downtown (along with a few extra dead people weekends), they'll be reinstating OT or cancelling everyone's days off.

It just shows the total incompetence at the top. VRI was created to bolster the morale and commitment of police --it allows for OT without any actual work.
If we actually had bosses with brains- manpower would be assigned appropriately (starting with putting full duty on the street and out of the offices/admin support spots)and deployed accordingly (maybe more likely with "new" Area Chief roles--except they filled those spots with current fools).

They had better not start canceling my RDO,s on weekends this summer. There was plenty of time to think ahead, and hire some more people, and take people out of the ivory tower, and call back, and put them to work in the districts. If things stay the course, by July 4th the body count in this hamlet will be ridiculous. What a ship of fools this city has become...

Don’t mistake overtime initiatives as wages and benefits - contractually speaking.
LightLoafer is playing games.

Lari LightLoafer is no different than Rahm when it comes to the police budget and manpower with their knee jerk micromanaging and meddling for politics purposes. These two half pint twits are not even close to knowing what they’re doing financially.

They’re dependent on merit hack pencil pushers comes up with these ideas (for another higher up self serving dolt) to deliver the cost savings proposals which the narrow minded dopey LightLoafer agrees to. VRI is probably going to be re-tooled into straight time Cops & Dots Unit.

All that nonsense money spent on hunch labs, predictive analytics, SSL conjuring, shot spotters haven’t done anything but enriched some vendors and assorted merit crystal ball swami pool. Bunch of data based junk pushed through rather than spending on hiring and overtime to holdback the rampaging protected feral lawless. How’s Hiring going?

No overtime or initiatives means no crime.
To think excessive overtime cannot be linked to excessive affordable bonds and court leniency by Cook County shows how LightLoafer isn’t interested in reducing crime, just the statistical appearance.

Show up and VRI when you can.
Pad the Def Comp.
Get some SS quarters in too.

And send in your FOP Ballot !

It is possible that the city will be relying on the teams that will be detailed to Area 3. It's not like A/3 is going to actually need 12 gang enforcement amd saturation teams. The teams being detailed there from the former Area North will just supplement VRI and work all the details.

Not everyone working it lives outside their means or has a shitload of toys or a second house. I’ve worked almost all of the assignments at one time or another. I have none of the things you whiners describe as “outside my means.” I’m not a whore about it, I get what I need to supplement and save extra so I can get the Hell off this job ASAP. Some of us don’t have a second income to rely on when shit breaks down & needs to get fixed. I work with a lot of people who seem to live quite modestly. Almost never do I work special & eat out let alone a fancy meal. Rarely have I seen someone working special driving a fancy car. Some have spouses who are disabled or kids with special needs or are just working their asses off to pay for kid’s tuition etc. So stop your whining. We work it when it’s there because we know it might not be there later.

ILLINOIS POLITICIANS MOVE TO REQUIRE $1M OF INSURANCE FOR FOID CARD
{395E8140-10ED-4C70-81B9-2673676BF467}Illinois Democrat State Representative Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz (photo right) has introduced HB-5170 , which "Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that an applicant for a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card or for renewal of that Card must submit to the Illinois State Police that he or she has proof of liability insurance coverage of at least $1,000,000 for accidental injuries caused by a firearm. Provides that the Illinois State Police may require annual proof of the person’s liability insurance coverage and may suspend a person’s Firearm Owner’s Identification Card for failure to maintain that coverage or for failure to provide the Illinois State Police with proof of that coverage. Provides that the proof of liability insurance coverage required under these provisions is required for both an initial application for a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card and for renewal of that Card."

As noted by Edgar County Watchdogs, "If passed this legislation would create a financial burden on anyone that simply wants a FOID card, let alone those wanting a gun or to keep their guns. This is a clear attempt to trample people’s Constitutional Rights to bear arms, both State (State Bill of Rights – Section 22) and Federal (US Constitution – 2nd Amendment).

Get rid of it as far as I’m concerned. Many of the officers who successfully bid for VRI have 25+ on the job. They are assigned to administrative duties or desk duties. They beg to be on working officer’s paper. They are not AIRA trained. They haven’t completed an arrest report since paper reports. They have no idea what an ANOV is. Since it’s inception after NATO; VRI, CHA, CTA and any other OT offered at the district level has been a blessing. I’ve paid off student loans, car, knocked a huge chunk off my mortgage, created an emergency fund and most importantly, maxed out deferred compensation. If it wasn’t for being able to capitalize on all that extra $, I’d probably be in the same financial boat I was before. I never expected it to last this long... now if you went out and added debt and didn’t pay cash for things, then you’re an idiot.

I'd care more about VRI if you could check the time box. Money is great and all but time with my family is worth much more. Plus, wouldn't being able to check the time box benefit the city, as it'd be less they have to pay out in the short term. Why pay off today what you can let build into an insurmountable debt later? Isn't that the city of Chicago's motto?

What does force review have to do with swiping

2/20/2020 12:28:00 AM

I was thinking the same thing. Either it’s just made up or the unit doesn’t have enough videos to play Monday morning quarterback.

Yea, VRI is really reducing crime. My ass it is. Assign VRI on CTA subway stations. Let's reduce crime on the CTA.

The Sgt with the BS comment about finding it hard to (log coppers) doing your job. Number one reason why people aren’t doing there jobs. Piss poor leadership that gets worse everyday. Sgt ‘s and Lt have handcuffs. Sgt’s are well capable of writing a report or a citation. This place is lost. Become a white shirt and tell people how to do police work? How about being a true leader by doing police work. Oh wait it’s the CPD I just became a boss without actually having to learn / earn my way. Joker you’re not above anyone.

"Illinois Democrat State Representative Jennifer Gong-Gershowit"

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS
A FUCKING DEMOCRAT suggesting new laws, restrictions, fees, violations of the constitution. When is America finally going to have enough and start making them pay. I would PAY to see someone literally throw tar and feathers on this piece of shit (among others) like they used to do.

"Don’t be upset because you weren’t smart enough to make Sgt and you can’t pay your bills now."

That's rich. Like "Smarts" has anything to do with being a sgt. I'd actually say you're smarter for NOT even taking a test or wanting the position. The extra money and perks are surely not worth the monetary risk of being sued/fired for supervising many of the enthusiastic, yet inexperienced, 2 year otj officers who will get you jammed up. So...Oh intelligent, almighty, mid-level MANAGER... I posit that in fact YOU are not the "smart" one staking so much of your future on the actions and behaviour of So many under you. Every "Request for supervisor" potentially embroiling you into a shitshow that will cost you. I understand though, you did what "they" said you were "supposed" to do by taking the test and getting the spot, but please don't confuse position with intelligence. Signed - Someone who appreciating all the negatives that come from supervisory responsibilities chose not to take any promotional exams and instead groomed outside sources of income that make sgts pay/perks look minor.

OT. Force Review unit has begun swiping compliance audits for districts as a pilot program for area south. Lowest 25 percent in compliance subject to progressive discipline. UNREAL

2/19/2020 08:22:00 PM

Another retarded rumor. Why would force review run audits on swiping? It makes no fucking sense. Integrity unit, IAD, Chief of Patrol? Those would make entirely more sense.

This rumor makes as much sense as A/C Dep Chief Tirado demanding activity out of Mass Transit. The unit isn't even in his command how is he gonna put a activity quota on a unit that falls under another Dep Chief?

RE:

Love watching those guys that live outside their means, scramble for activity. It’s a joke!! Department should have a “don’t live outside your means.
-------

Listen simpleton.

Many off us are Maxed out in Deferred Comp.

Lazy Dip-shits like you who are too lazy to pick up easy money will be crying when the demo-crats destroy the pension in a few years.
——————————————————————————————————————-

Hahahaha!! Sounds like a lil snowflake needs a quiet room to cure his emotional stress.
We know whose checkbook isn’t balanced...wait...they don’t know what that is.

I, as well as a shit ton of others I know on this job, are maxed out in deferred comp, send our kids to private school, have clothes on our back and hearty food on the table. We simply accept our check on the 1st and 16th and get our court dates in. We even check the CU option for holidays to accrue that time for retirement as that too will increase as our salary (hopefully) gets increased. You see, if I’m given an amount of $X dollars, I can’t go over that. I’ve already established my pre tax deductions and what I’m taking home. That “easy” money isn’t so “easy” when you’ve taken time away from your family you will never get back. The only one crying when the “demo-rats” do anything will be you sir or ma’am, because you have not learned to adapt. I really hope you’re not also “waiting” on a retro check in return for other important bargaining items to be left on the table. God bless you!! Hopefully you take a step back and get your shit together.
