The Slum Times media continues the slanted "reporting" that they're infamous for:
- A carjacking suspect being transported in a police vehicle to the 25th District police station at Grand and Central opened fire Thursday morning in the station’s prisoner loading bay, wounding three officers, one seriously, sources said.
The prisoner, in turn, was shot multiple times at the police station, 5555 W. Grand Ave., sources said.
One officer was in serious condition after being shot in the chin. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, CPD Supt. David Brown told reporters outside that hospital.
Two officers suffered less serious wounds. One was shot in his protective vest, but the bullet didn’t penetrate; the other officer was wounded in the hip. They were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Brown said. Two other officers were taken to that hospital for chest pains, Brown added.
The prisoner’s condition was unknown; he was taken to Stroger Hospital.
Guess what his condition was previous to being arrested?
- Police sources said the shooter is a 25-year-old felon paroled just three months ago. He’s been sentenced to prison four times, according to court records. He’s been convicted of illegal gun possession by a felon and aggravated assault with a vehicle. He also has two felony drug convictions.
Imagine that. Another violent felon, released to the streets. Who would have thought that could happen in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois? Crimesha, any comment?

The prisoner may have managed to move his handcuffs from behind his back to his front before he started shooting, a source said.
Well Frank:
- he probably was searched, but that's going to be the subject of numerous investigations now and it would be improper to comment on it;
- sally ports are far from secure unless both doors are operational and closed in sequence...again, that's going to be the subject of a few investigations;
- you don't "move handcuffs" Frank. You slip them or "jump-rope" them to get your arms to the front of your body. We met a prisoner once with double jointed shoulders - he just lifted his arms right over his head and tried to strangle a cop with his cuffed arms. And when his shoulders healed, he wasn't able do that again.
This incident ought to be utilized as a training opportunity.

It’s not improper to comment on it. There is no such thing as “he was probably searched.” Either he was searched or he wasn’t. And a sloppy, lazy, half-assed search is the same as not searching.
And yes I’m fine with being righteous and surely labeled a know it all asshole. That’s the defensive response I expect. But I will say that in every arrest I’ve made in many years - and it’s been thousands of arrests - that is not something I ever did a shit job on. Not only to protect myself, but because I owe it to my partner to not get him killed.
We don’t have to wait for the investigation. Either he wasn’t searched, or the backseat wasn’t searched before the shift and there was a gun already in there.

A sally port is a garage type building where you pull in one door and the door closes securing the area. When done the door opposite of you opens and you pull out. The original idea for sally ports was to make putting a vehicle in reverse unnecessary as you only have to drive forward, never reverse. Just a fact for the day and prayers for the officers.

Several years ago, a black male perp was taken into custody by St. Louis (city or county, can't remember) PD. The cops missed a handgun on the guy when they searched him. The perp in turn shot and killed one of the officers on the scene, and was himself injured in the aftermath.
All the above to say this: if the cops over that way were as racist as some of the citizens insist they are, said perp would have never made it to the hospital alive. But he did.
I would imagine CPD is the same: falsely maligned.
My partner and I took an arrest on a TVB and warrant from a couple of lazy coppers who pulled the guy over and then didn't want to bother with the mutt. We take him out of the back seat of their car and go through him and find a loaded 40 caliber handgun in his waist band; we could have all been dead. Don't be lazy or assume the mutt's been searched.

This continued tragedy will be shrouded with many unanswered questions. The failure of the Superintendent to share pertinent information or provide a status report surrounding the circumstances of his death remain disturbing. The same for his funeral arrangements and all honors due.

(Arresting and transporting) The transporting officer admitted being lax because he knew the arresting officer had searched the guy. Anyway at the jail, they found an full can of beer in the guys crotch. Howinell do two different experienced officers miss a can of beer? (They maybe thought he was "aroused" by the search) I once missed a small baggie of coke in a woman's collar although I was sure she had something on her, I couldn't find it. Jail guys found it though. Opps.

The Illinois parole board should be charged criminally. This human garbage was behind bars for a total of 2 years, 5 months, 15 days of a 5 year sentence for uuw-weapon-felon, possess/use firearm. Arrested 26-Oct-2017, paroled 10-Apr-2020. Mind you, he was on parole already when he was arrested in 2017, charged and convicted for his 5th felony conviction. The sad truth is, 99% of all prison sentences are served at 50% or less, regardless of the charges. Someone, somewhere must get the public to realize that there are no consequences for criminals in Illinois as long as these lunatics are in charge.

Years ago my partner(PPO) and I hit the 3900 block of Van Buren after being told that the guy in front of a certain house had the "security" for the spot and had a pistol, which happened to be a 40 BELOW windchill night. Let partner out to "flank" the alley and I hit the front. Offender did the up the stairs "knock,knock" "cause he lived there." ALWAYS made them give me the address on the door and when he couldn't, continued the pat down and questioning. Literally couldn't feel my fingers from the cold as I'm patting him down; nothing but a ton of cash for his "Jordan's tomorrow." Told him that was a bunch of cash for no gun and he gave me that "look" where I knew I FUCKED UP! Guy was wearing a union suit and the FULLY LOADED 9MM slid into the crotch "sag" area like a custom made "shelf" for his pistol. Luckily, no further issues and a UUW pinch. After roll call the next night as with every night, we were always asked if anyone had anything. I spoke up and TOLD EVERYONE of my FUCK-UP because we need to be TOTALLY critical of OURSELVES before pointing fingers at anyone else. At that time, I was an "old timer" with 12 years on the job in 011 but I wanted EVERYONE to know don't EVER trust anyone with your life on a search, ESPECIALLY YOURSELF! I like to think my comments at roll call that night may have helped another officer in their careers to always do a double check on a search. PRAYERS answered that ALL the officers involved in this cowardly attack against them, apparently will recover. GOD BLESS!!

Retired a while now, to this day I can see those coppers sitting in the front seat and I still get chills. I don't doubt that realization of what might have been came to them at some point. It was never talked about.

But I will say that in every arrest I’ve made in many years - and it’s been thousands of arrests - that is not something I ever did a shit job on. Not only to protect myself, but because I owe it to my partner to not get him killed.
We don’t have to wait for the investigation. Either he wasn’t searched, or the backseat wasn’t searched before the shift and there was a gun already in there.

This isnt a thread about officers killed in the line of duty. You do realize that this shootout happened yesterday morning right? It had a thread yesterday and no officers were killed. So take it easy before you have an aneurysm. Sometimes there is a method to someone's madness posts. Most suicides are heartbreakingly tragic. Once in a blue moon they are pathetic like with GI Joe in Fox Lake from 5 years ago. Time will tell if I'm wrong or not. Do yourself a favor and go speak to someone since you sound high strung and left unchecked it could lead to tragic consequences

Sigh. I never said that you posted that officers were killed. It was to exaggerate how emotional you seem to get by your retort. I know you are weak by your response. Are you retarded as well? Just because someone committed suicide doesn't give them an automatic pass until all info is released. It might be an unpopular opinion given our career and all the tragic suicides, but sometimes the old 'he/she took the cowards way out,' adage still applies for some. Sorry, he's not with us, but some of us are, and we have to deal with his poor decisions like MERIT PICKS. By all means, please respond back again. I can do this all day.....

No. Someone hasn't been paying attention. You shoot until the deadly threat is neutralized. That's it. Anything else is a crime. 16 shots means you're a racist murderer. Each shot gets you another charge. Even just shooting until the deadly threat is neutralized will likely get you charged with something nowadays. Please keep your idiotic advice off the blog.
