Cleared After Almost Two Years
In car camera, body cameras and outside security cameras captured the shooting and it still took almost two years to clear the Officers:
Chicago’s police oversight agency has cleared two officers in a 2024 Pilsen shooting, finding one was justified in fatally shooting an armed 16-year-old and the other was justified in firing at a person who ran from the scene.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability released its findings on Thursday night in the August 18, 2024, shooting death of Alex Cortez, of Plainfield. COPA previously said state law barred it from releasing video of the incident or identifying Cortez by name because he was a juvenile. CWB Chicago identified him through other public records.
CPD has said its own investigation found that Cortez was one of two people who opened fire on a nearby vehicle before the officers arrived, critically wounding two occupants. Again, CPD did not identify Cortez by name.
The Officers fired through their own windshield to neutralize the threat - an armed offender pointing a gun at their squad car from at most, ten feet away.
An excellent job all around and hopefully put to rest now.

Wonderful news! Ditch COPA. They're evil. Thrilled for the officers. Let the COPA morons face the same situations, including waiting 2 years for an answer that's immediately obvious, and see what happens. Disgusting police haters.
I have heard many of officers say they are in survival mode. That is what you have to do in order to make it with your sanity and keep your job.

1st of all COPA is NOT an official investigation office, they are NOT law enforcement and have NO clue how to investigate...2nd they are so backlogged with bullshit CR's and 3rd, they will take forever to investigate even the dumbest of CR's just to fuck with us. We need to go back to affidavits to get rid of nonsense CR's.
The police had less than a second to decide, COPA took two years to decide. COPA is worthless.

The Officers should really receive some sort of CASH payout for the hell and mental abuse they have been though. This seems to happen a lot. They have seconds to react, and these people poured over this crap for two years?
COPA only found them innocent because they are in fear of being dismantled after all the retaliatory, kangaroo court, bullshit investigations they've done in the past that are finally catching up with them.

Scottsdale, Arizona (May 6, 2026) An adult male remains hospitalized with critical injuries following an officer-involved shooting that occurred while Scottsdale Police officers were investigating a shots-fired call near Miller Road and Camelback Road.
At approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, Scottsdale Police received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at the Circle K convenience store located at the intersection of Camelback Road and Miller Road. Responding officers arrived and confirmed that multiple rounds had been fired, with several bullets striking the business.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., while officers were actively investigating the initial incident, additional gunshots were heard east of the original scene at a nearby apartment complex. During the search for victims and suspects in the surrounding area, Scottsdale Police received a 911 call from a resident near 4600 N. 76th St., reporting that multiple individuals had jumped a fence and were running through her yard. Responding detectives encountered a male fleeing the area. During the encounter, the suspect reached toward his waistband, at which time the officer-involved shooting occurred.
