A person has died in a shooting involving an FBI agent Thursday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, officials said.
One adult was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, which happened around 3 p.m. in the 3700 block of West Lexington Street, according to the Chicago Fire Department and the FBI.
Chicago police officers initially responded to the scene, but officers have turned the investigation over to the FBI, the department said.
Authorities have not released information about what led to the shooting. No other information was available.
Nothing about the usual community outrage commonly associate with law enforcement shootings, so that's good. And no law enforcement members were reported injured which is also good.

Old retired detective here. When I was on the job, the area detectives investigated any OIS incidents regardless of what agency was involved. Has this changed? Why would the FBI investigate this incident?
Witness says that the offenders vehicle was boxed in by FBI and since the offender could not get out, he stood up through the sun roof and started shooting and thats when FBI shot back...For once, a solid witness comes forward and says the OFFENDER SHOT FIRST, in their own words!

Loved the dead guy's brother on the news this morning. Saying that even though his brother was in the car with a gun, did he deserve to be shot? Having been a federal LEO after leaving CPD I can affirm that the offender's family is in for a big surprise. It isn't as easy to file suit against the G as it is the City of Chicago. Glad all Agents and Copa went home safe after the encounter.
