The Illinois General Assembly will deliver the property tax relief the Bears say they need to build a domed stadium in Arlington Heights and throw a bone to Chicago by starting to untangle the traffic bottleneck around Soldier Field and the Museum Campus, a key state lawmaker in stadium talks said Friday.
With the spring legislative session set to wrap up this weekend, State Rep. Kam Buckner (D-Chicago) said he’s confident that Illinois lawmakers will “find a deal that works to keep the Bears in the state of Illinois” and prevent Chicago’s beloved NFL franchise from accepting a far more lucrative offer to move to Hammond, Indiana.
Buckner is the chief sponsor of the mega-projects bill that would allow the Bears to negotiate discounted property tax payments with local school districts and other taxing bodies.
It'll be passed close to midnight with little (if any) serious debate as to the actual costs....which will be borne entirely by taxpayers.
He'll probably run for governor based on "his" bill, too.

Since I don't have any kids, I'd like to negotiate a property tax adjustment with CPS! Nothing! Why do seniors and people who never use the school system have to pay exorbitant property taxes to fund teacher's salaries, benefits and pensions? And be honest, that's all CPS is, an employment agency! No education going on!

5 seconds of searching on an AI platform revealed that 60 percent of the property tax revenue generated will go to fund schools and school related things. The state and city will fight over whats left of revenue generated from ticket sales, concessions taxes, and worker wages taxed. Bottom line is expect property tax hikes, and other taxes to go higher such as a beverage tax or higher gas taxes. In the Mega projects bill, Illinois could fund a new tollway to funnel traffic through the N/W corridor from O-Hare to the bears stadium. Extimates of the necessary infrastructure are costs of roads, water/sewer, are extimated to be around 2 billion to 3.5 billion.
Remember when Daley decided that the runways in Ohare needed to be moved? He said that no public money would be used. The project ran over budget by billions and cost taxpayers a shit ton. One of the largest ever public works projects in Chicago and there were absolutely no benefts to Chicago. Taxpayers, expect another fleecing. Football fans and non fans alike. There is money to be made here.
This reminds me of how new Comiskey was funded. The clocks in chambers were unplugged just before midnight because there was a midnight deadline for the vote. A final vote was taken and it passed around 10 minutes past midnight
Let the Bears move to Indiana, as no regular guy can afford to go to a football without taking out a bank loan first!

Kam buckner helped engineer the $800 Million bailout of RTA by taking the money out of gas tax road fund ,, Odds Supermajority dems will steal more money from gas tax fund to give it to Bears. Property tax ..relief one time ,$1.27 to$19 dollars ..LOL

They ALWAYS take the maximum allowable under the "Tax Cap", so they don't leave money on the table. If someone gets a reduction, someone else makes that up.

If the Bears leave Soldier Field, as it seems to be, I'm done. Went there with my late father and his father. Great memories, from the 50 yard line. Arlington Hts and Indiana just don't cut it for me and most friends.
