Misplaced Priorities
We know many law firms have a wide range of specialties and employ lawyers who are versed in the services for their target clientele. You don't want someone who does corporate stuff trying a personal injury case, or a personal injury attorney doing tax law.
So why is an FOP labor attorney doing auto liens?
We have John buying his girlfriend [...] a $7,200 shitbox. Said shitbox winds up with a lien on the title, so off to court they go to get it removed. And who shows up to represent her?

Carson Fallo—the same Carson Fallo who has appeared on behalf of Lodge 7 in federal court and filed papers for the Lodge before the U.S. Supreme Court—is the attorney representing John's girlfriend in her petition to remove the lien and obtain clean title.
Meanwhile, there are dues-paying Lodge 7 members who have been denied legal defense or told they're on their own.The real insult isn't the $7,200 shitbox. It's that dues-paying members have been denied legal defense while the President's non-member girlfriend is represented by the same attorney retained to represent Lodge 7. Whose interests are our dues are actually paying to protect.
Members who pay nearly $1,000 a year in dues have been denied representation for follow up interviews at IAD, while the President's girlfriend—who is a civilian—has unlimited access to our attorneys.
Maybe this guy did auto liens before he got assigned the FOP account with Baum Sigman Auerbach and Neuman? But we're imagining that the FOP pays far more that people contesting auto liens against the Secretary of State. Maybe a junior associate could have handled this, especially if there's a question about legal representation to FOP members.

Its a talking point brought up ad nauseum by the same person on facebook and at meetings constantly but they can never say who has been denied. How can they deny you legal counsel when going to give a statement at IAD. Going to give a statement is no joke and a serious allegation. That is embarrassing if true. I was there at the beginning. Choices were teamsters, combined counties, patrolman’s association, Local 1975, COP, FOP and no union. The city was afraid of the teamsters. Teamsters promised big raises, legal protections, etc. They knew we could not strike, but promised no truck would enter or leave the city. Our “union brothers” would strike for us. That’s power. COP was the frountrunner, they were very active in the 60’s & 70’s defending cops and sueing the city. They organized ticket slow downs & ticket blitzes. Every street cop and street Det I knew belonged to COP, just for the legal protection. At the time, no one had heard of fop. They were a club from A4 Dets. Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 7 in Chicago is a registered not-for-profit corporation in Illinois. As such, it is legally bound by the Illinois General Not For Profit Corporation Act of 1986, including 805 ILCS 105/107.75, regarding the maintenance of corporate records.
805 ILCS 105/107.75 mandates that all Illinois non-profit corporations maintain complete financial books, records, and meeting minutes. It provides voting members the right to examine these records in person or by agent for a "proper purpose" via written demand.
As I am retired and no longer a voting member, I cannot file a written request. Yetany current voting member can submit a written request, specifically stating the records sought.this request must state a proper purpose for reviewing the documents (ie. verifying financial propriety, assessing dues usage).
If your request is denied, a violation of Section 107.75 of the Illinois Not For Profit Corporation Act (805 ILCS 105/107.75) regarding denied access to corporate books, records, or meeting minutes, you can either file a civil suit in circuit court to compel compliance

By-laws and procedures. Request and if granted, must follow the rules. No cameras , phones to record or photograph and definitely no copies to made and no notes to be taken.

He knows fop history, negotiated several contracts, legal defense, and the grievance system, but he’s retired and probably wouldn’t be interested.
