They closed down a school for mold?
A rocky start to the school year after suspected mold was found inside one Southwest Side elementary school.
Tests were completed at John H. Kinzie Elementary School in the 5600 block of South Mobile Avenue, but the results aren't being shared, as signs point to the first full week of classes being interrupted.
Lights are off and no students to be found inside the Garfield Ridge school. What could be found are industrial cleaning crews with oversized equipment as they try to get the school year back on track.
For 600 students, the year started with outside classes and classwork in unconventional spots inside the adjacent Kennedy High School. Last Thursday, parents were sent notices by school leaders about the suspected mold in some classrooms.
Good thing they have all those empty high schools to stuff the kids into.
But how come they never shut down and police stations for problems far worse than mold? Not only were there a dozen or more moldy police districts, the asbestos issues were real, too.
The "cancer clusters"? Those were a real thing, too, and they're still on-going. We can name at least three separate Districts and/or Areas where ten or more cops were diagnosed with cancers, mostly related to environmental issues prevalent in that particular city construction.
Though we suppose after the ILLEGAL ALIEN invasion of the 2020s, we shouldn't wonder at the City's lack of caring.

So a large mold infestation just all of a sudden happened? was there a water leak? because if this was an ongoing thing growing over time then they should have addressed it over the summer before school started ...

All you have to do is look at area 3....just go into lock-up and look up. How many officers had cancer working in area 3.
They were doing asbestos abatement in the old 017 with guys walking around in spacesuits during roll calls and normal everyday operations. The lockup never closed.
What budget did this clean up come out of?
I remember how bad the 019 lobby bathroom smelled. It smelled like a dead body was in there rotting.
Closing a school for mold is not a bad thing to a democrat. Now, a new mold remediation buisness can be funded with a no bid contract, and millions can be funneled out of the city budget. Alderman and cronies can have their snootful of taxpayer cash. Everybody wins the "Chicago way" Hell, maybe the State can chip in too. After it is "All for the children" right?
I worked in the old A/5...the roof leaked the entire time I was there. When it rained, trash cans were utilized to catch the water. A janitor had to empty the cans occassionaly when it rained for a long time. When it didnt rain it smelled like mold. No bosses had the time to be concerned about it. They were too busy losing files and rediscovering them on the David Koschman case. I can name at least 3 or 4 supervisors that made easy promotions doing the citys (Daley) bidding. If you still work there or in 025 get health screenings regularly.

Over 32 empty, dry, well ventilated classrooms at Manley H.S. Just waiting to be put to use. That’s just at one location. So why does the Board of Education lease closed schools from the Archdiocese of Chicago and even build new schools to placate community activists who show no concern over children who can’t read?

Barack Obama Elementary School in Richmond, VA has been shut down for the same reason -- mold.
The old 15th district had a stram leak for a decade by the front entrance.
Old 10th District at 23rd and Damen had many tact officers die from cancer. No coincidence.
61st & Racine (previous 007th District) has been the home of several different units since 007 relocated to their new station. The entire building is filled with mold, years of sitting water in the always flooded basement. Chipped and falling asbestos-filled paint falling from the ceilings throughout the hell-hole. The old lock-up and completely rusted cells just sit there stagnant with no air-filtration. The old shooting range that was shut down 30+ years ago due to the lack of lead removal, it was just covered with mounds of dirt, of which that lethal airborne lead has now worked its way up thru the dirt, adding to the toxic air that hundreds/thousands of CPD members have been consistently breathing (remember VRI being held there daily for years). The gang/TRU/Troubled building etc units used that poison palace for years since 007 moved to 63/loomis prior to 2008-2009. Ask any one of those 6120 Racine coppers who have worked there for years/decades how many cops (former/retired/active) have come down with uncommon/rare cases of cancer…….many of who have already died young and not long after their retiring from their unit of assignment at that building. I’ve worked in this dump for almost 14 years and walk through and breathe the hazy stagnant air that fills the entire building. I can name at least 12-15 coppers who are now dead, and have or are currently battling rare forms of cancer, all of which have the same common denominator……they each worked long stretches of their careers at 6120 Racine. It’s time for the class action lawsuit, containing every cop who ever worked there who have been knowingly assigned to report to a toxic facility, putting our lives at risk before, during, and after risking our lives policing the most violent districts surrounding 6120 Racine. I’ve been collecting and bagging up the toxic paint chips and rusted metal for years, knowing that the Dept would eventually come in and gut or tear down the building to hide the cancer causing dump that they knowingly kept as our workplace. Even the building engineers wear masks when they occasionally come to change the lightbulbs. Screw it, someone post a law firm that would be willing to pick up this class action lawsuit, and I’ll get the ball rolling. It’s the least we can do to honor the several deceased cops, and the ones who have or are currently fighting cancer that, without a doubt, has been the cause of being constantly exposed to the long time and known disgusting condition of that building. Post me a good law firm that’ll pick this case up, and please not the FOP attorneys……they still can’t tie ties. Maybe chuck goudie and the I-team can get the ball rolling and the law firms will be chasing us down. F this dept.

This is under the radar closing schools for affordable house how many more they could close saving taxpayers billions if they do the right thing and combine the schools that are almost empty with a full staff, which is ridiculous;

You can not sue the city for negligence. Sworn police officers are exempt from the enforcement provisions of workmen's compensation. OSHA has no jurisdiction, you have to call IOSHA that only makes advisory statements.

Off Topic-sorta. Seeing as how this ends up being related to the Chicago Public School system, Conehead has created another commission to investigate the high rents Chicagoans are paying for rent here and the “constant” rent increases they are being subjected to. Hasn’t anyone told him that his and Fat Azz’s mandatory increases in all taxes and especially Real Estate taxes are what is driving those high rents? So, he adds even more people added to his employment roles and more money for the useless CPS -for the “children”?

Kinzie performs at above average levels and is rated in the top 20 % of all Publis Schools in the entire state of Illinois..

Didn’t they shut down 6120 S. Racine. Are coppers still working in that building? Is there a unit that works in the building?
