They obviously want the Bears to stay in Illinois:
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has weighed in once more on the Chicago Bears stadium saga, letting the world know Illinois isn’t out of the race just yet.
Goodell spoke to NFL media members at the league’s quarterly meetings in Atlanta on Thursday, where he confirmed that he met with Illinois lawmakers and said the Bears’ Arlington Heights stadium site has not yet been completely ruled out.
“There’s no specific timetable from my standpoint, other than we know that they are looking at the alternate groups — Indiana or Arlington Heights,” Goodell told assembled media after meeting with NFL team owners at a hotel. “We want to make sure that Arlington Heights and Illinois have an opportunity, as well as Indiana, to put their best foot forward.”
So the backroom negotiations continue.
Just out of curiosity - would the Indianapolis Colts have any say in the matter, like a regional restriction or something?

Regional restriction? Probably not. FedEx Field where the Commanders play is much closer to M&T Bank Stadium where the Ravens play than Indianapolis is to Hammond. And there’s the Jets and the Giants in close proximity. You get the idea.
This is like arguing over what’s more legitimate: WWE, WCW or AEW. It’s all just a play it’s a tv show it’s a movie none of it is real. I said it earlier, the Bears have been doing surveying on the Arlington heights property. The City of Arlington Heights has been actively changing the sewerage structures. All while the Illinois tollway has been doing widening of exits off of 53 north……..even Metra has been surveying the old train right away to plan for the new train stop to be developed at the stadium location. Metra is also buying up empty lots near current stations to increase the game day parking. It has been a false story going to Indiana. It takes the heat off of JB Prickster during his run for governor or president! If he agreeded to stadium costs he would never get voted in for dog catcher?

I believe not only the colts, but all NFL owners have a say on something like this. Needs approval from 75% of the owners I believe. Would they actually run into any significant resistance going to Indiana/Arlington heights? Doubtful. It’s happened in the past but it’s been related to major moves of teams, completely exiting a market and relocating, not simply moving a short distance down the road. Bunches of teams don’t play in the city they’re named after, but still within the area and still in the market.
It’s going to come down to the conversations between Pritzker and McCaskey. The billionaires will make whatever deal will make them money. Pritzker’s top concern is making money for the family business. Same with McCaskey. Which location is more favorable to hotels/tourism? Will those new businesses kickback enough to the McCaskeys? That’ll be where they build a new stadium.
It’s not about fans or football. Never was.

Roger Goodell is suddenly very concerned about making sure Illinois gets a “fair opportunity” to keep the Bears. Pure coincidence, I'm sure, that Illinois is heading into a governor’s election and keeping the Bears from crossing the state line might make a pretty convenient political talking point.

Going to Indiana makes a lot of sense if they want a stadium thats used for 8 games and possible playoff games. Thats about it. They build a complex in Arlington hts its a year round money maker. Hotels , restaurants, possible casino people will flock to it. Gary? Not really.

I've said from the start that da' Bears will remain at Arlington. I have to confess though, that I had to sorta keep low key with all the publicity surrounding moving to Indiana. Now with this latest information, I can come out of the closet (figuratively, that is) and again go with my original thought process. The McCaskey's net worth is around 1.5 Billion and the Bears franchise alone is worth over 5 Billion. To quote da' Coach, Mike Ditka..."The McCaskey's throw nickels around like they're sewer covers." That theory played a part in my initial belief in Arlington, and I still believe that they are just posturing to get a better deal in Illinois. Just my $0.02 for now.

Ticket season holders will go where the Bears are playing There are only 8 games a year and a drive to Indiana on Sunday is not a long trip and half the seasons ticket holders tailgate and get there at 8 or 9 AM. Season ticket are at a premium Families fight over them.
Also if they don’t go which they will other people will be able to go, not like now where tickets are at a premium

Heres a possible scenario. Indiana really wanted the Bears, so they passed every legislation they needed to to get them. Pritzker already had a back room deal for the Arlington Heights site. Indianas deal only mucked up the works making Fatso look bad. The deadline came and went. Yet somehow there is still no decision. Fatso's team is busy cooking the books to find the money. Chicago and Illinois are famous for last minute backroom deals that screw the taxpayer. Fatso will take a victory lap when the Bears announce that they have chosen Arlington Heights. Or maybe just half a lap and a full bottle of Oxygen. I would really like to Fatso pass a power test someday. I would pay admissiopn just to see him carried out on a stretcher.
