LAPD Takes Streets Back

Conehead take note. Waller, you too.

Maybe Dart and ISP Kelly can hop on board:

  • Cops sprung a massive sting on alleged street-racing hooligans in South Los Angeles early Saturday — reportedly detaining hundreds and preparing to haul away scores of vehicles.

The Los Angeles Police Department told The California Post that officers issued a tactical alert at 3:21 a.m. and were still working the scene hours later, as of 9 a.m.

No details were immediately available on arrests or citations from the LAPD.

Video from the scene showed dozens of officers surrounding a massive crowd as people wandered between cars trapped at the intersection of South Figueroa Street and West Alondra Boulevard. Tow trucks stood by, ready to pounce.

At last report, around 300 participants were detained AND OVER 100 VEHICLES IMPOUNDED.

Back when impounds were a thing (and snow tows) every vehicle towed was tagged with something like $150 in fines, another $50 in towing fees, and an initial $10 daily storage fee which was increased by $10 a day afterwards.

That's a quick $21K in a single incident.

Now do this a of couple weekends in a row and suddenly Conehead's budget deficit starts to shrink, his approval rating goes up, and CTA revenues....well, they stay the same as those morons will just wave the shitheads through.

That's racist since most of thise vehicles belong to black and brown drivers. Kind of like blacks owing money to the city but not pursuing them because they're black and have no money.

Conehead doing something that brings in revenue and stops his yutes from destroying everything in sight? Never. That's an easy solution. Sadly, LA isn't working with ICE. We'd have a few more freeloaders out of our country.

Oh, the tow fees are on the low side. Most burbs, the fee is $500-$750, plus tickets. My son's place got plate numbers of the cars involved, then went to their cribs next day and hooked 7 or 8 of them. Did that a couple times, and guess what? No street takeovers in his town..

This will not happen in Chicago. This town had it chance for real police reform when Charlie Beck came into town for six months, made some great changes and proposed others. All of it was reversed by Brown and Lightfoot. Not one superintendent in the past, and that includes Terry and Snelling had the guts to make real changes in the patronage culture.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) uses an aggressive, multi-agency crackdown to end illegal street takeovers and sideshows. Coordinated through its Street Racing Task Force alongside the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD), the department combines strict enforcement mechanisms with preventative policy tools.

Core Enforcement Mechanisms and Policies
1. "Kettling" & Massive Perimeter Containment
Instead of arriving with standard sirens, which previously caused crowds to scatter unpunished, police deploy coordinated sting and perimeter-containment tactics. Officers swiftly block off exit routes around the targeted intersection (such as S. Figueroa St. & W. Alondra Blvd.) to trap participants, drivers, and spectators inside the perimeter before making mass detentions.

2. Mandatory 30-Day Vehicle Impoundment
Under California Vehicle Code (Section 23109.2 VC), vehicles involved in street takeovers, speed contests, or reckless driving are subjected to an immediate 30-day mandatory impoundment. Owners are forced to pay steep towing and daily storage fees (often exceeding several thousand dollars) before retrieving the vehicle. Department leaders, including the LAPD Chief, have advocated for expanding policies to permanently seize or destroy/crush vehicles tied to recurring offenses.

3. Penalizing Spectators (LAMC 47.15)
Under Los Angeles Municipal Code Section 47.15, it is illegal to knowingly be a spectator at a street takeover or speed contest. Authorities issue heavy Administrative Citation Enforcement (ACE) citations directly to onlookers, removing the standard audience that fuels takeover events. In major sting operations, hundreds of spectators are cited simultaneously.

4. Drone Intelligence & Real-Time Tracking
Because social media allows takeovers to mobilize in under 20 minutes, the LAPD utilizes aerial surveillance, drones, and law enforcement intelligence networks to monitor gatherings, track fleeing vehicles, and map out sting locations prior to deploying ground officers.

5. Strict Youth Curfew Enforcement
Operations strictly enforce municipal curfew laws for underage attendees. Juveniles detained at these events are issued curfew violations, and parents are held accountable or required to pick up minors at processing sites.

6. Zero-Tolerance Criminal Prosecution
Beyond traffic citations, law enforcement works alongside local prosecutors to pursue felony and misdemeanor charges for:
* Exhibition of Speed / Aiding and Abetting (VC 23109)
* Assault on a Police Officer or Resisting/Obstruction
* Reckless Driving and Hit-and-Run
* Unlawful Possession of Firearms & Dangerous Materials (such as seized nitrous oxide tanks)
* Vandalism and Infrastructure Damage Recovery, allowing the city to seek civil/criminal restitution from organizers to pay for road repair, restriping, and property destruction.

And our policy?

20 pages of stories like this from England -

https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-15813951/Drivers-breathalysed-laughing-gas-amid-growing-Snapchat-trend-youngsters-getting-wheel-high-nitrous-oxide.html

Got the thing in their lap, breathing deeply while videoing themselves driving 150 MPH the wrong way, splitting lanes on the "motorway." against the oncoming traffic.

Driving While Anaesthetized.

Gas available to breathe in psgr. compartment (even tubes running from bottle in trunk) - automatic confiscation and crushing of veh. and permanent revocation of drivers' license. Death or injury resulting - automatic life in prison without possibility of parole.

Out for a bit of a lark on the "Snapchat," are we now?

"But, but, but, it's me da's car..."

Now see how many "likes" you get...
