Lots of Bears Movement
Just to be clear, we care little about the NFL any more. Long time readers will recall we used to do regular postings about sports, mostly about the Blackhawks, but we followed the Bears, too. That all changed when they went "woke" and the whole league went anti-police.
Now, we only care as much as it affects where our tax money goes....as in they should get zero.
But the Springfield theater is ramping up for the fall veto session where the actors pretend to make deals and rip off taxpayers - just look at all these articles:
And all of them say the same thing - that the billionaire owners are meeting with the billionaire governor and NFL officials in some sort of "last ditch" effort to keep the Bears in Illinois. We still think they're staying because the Hammond location would require two years and a few billion dollars just to decontaminate the site.

Speaking of actors do we now know the NFL is SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT the same as the WWE? Look it up. It’s a scripted tv show complete with pre determined outcomes just like a Broadway play. It’s not real. We as adults know this now, right?

SCC I’m completely with on not supporting any organization/league that is anti-police. I was a complete die-hard from the 70’s when it came to mlb, nfl, nhl and nba. The NFL wants nothing to do with Hammond and unfortunately has a lot of input in the process. Therefore after the election the Bears will get what they want . I was hoping they would go to Hammond. These low livimg Democrtas always find a way to fleece taxpayers.

Let us be clear about one thing, the Chicago Bears are a for profit business which is incorporated in the State of Delaware, not the State of Illinois. Since the McCaskey family chooses to take advantage of the corporate tax structures in Delaware and not the less business friendly State of Illinois; let the taxpayers of Delaware foot the bill for this stadium. Or better yet, let the billionaire McCaskey family finance their own stadium as other teams & families have done.

Bears were never going to Indiana. With all of the big money and many season ticket holders in the north and northwest suburbs the Indiana ploy was just move by the Bears to threaten the State. There’s no way they’re going to that dump in Hammond.
The NY Giants in New Jersey is way different than the Bears in Indiana. The NFL is never going to any accept any move like this. 2028 is the deadline since the Bears are locked in at Soldier Field until 2033. Negotiations among the heavy hitters is finally starting. Notably absent was Bears DEI President Warren.
The Bears fix, excuse me "deal" to keep them in Illinois will be announced after the fall elections. Only after the legislature is safely re-elected will the voters learn how much the deal is costing the taxpayers.

I haven’t watched major league sports since Colin Kaepernick took a knee. Seeing the major sports leagues and teams embrace BLM only reinforced my decision. In my view, BLM is an anti-police organization, and I won’t support sports organizations that promote it.
People defended the players wearing BLM shirts by saying, “The owners made them do it.” That argument never made sense to me. We were told the owners couldn’t stop players from taking a knee, but suddenly those same owners could force them to wear a political message? Where was the willingness to stand up for their own convictions then?
I was especially disappointed in the Cubs. I never saw a player refuse to wear the shirts or publicly say he wouldn’t support that message.
As a retired Chicago police officer, I support the police through and through—100 percent. The players and owners made their choices, and I made mine. They lost me as a viewer, and I haven’t looked back.

Bears are staying in Illinois. Hammond is leverage and always has been. Arlington is where they ultimately want to be. The biggest issue has never been the stadium itself, it’s the infrastructure and who pays for everything surrounding it. My guy at a certain AM radio station told me the conversations this week were all about road improvements, Metra access and getting the property ready once the financing issues are settled. Nobody is going to announce anything until all of that is far enough along that they know it can actually happen. My guess is you’ll hear very little publicly until suddenly it looks like everything came together at once. It didn’t. These things get worked out quietly long before the public announcement. Arlington Heights, 72,400 seat roofed stadium. Early 2030s. Remember this post.

What about, renting out the BRAND New State of Art Ryan Stadium in Evanston, Northwestern University . It's there. Only drawback is Chicago loses a lot of tax money and businesses lose millions in Chicago.
