Sanity Arrives at COPA?
Amazing what happens when you get rid of the anti-police AWFL in charge:
Chicago’s new police oversight chief has repeatedly wiped out or dramatically scaled back recommendations to fire officers following pushback from the city’s top cop, the Chicago Sun-Times and WBEZ have found.
The reversals by the city’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability follow acrimony and infighting that roiled the agency, culminating in the resignation of its chief administrator, Andrea Kersten, after a tenure marked by internal accusations of mismanagement and anti-police bias.
In March, Kersten was replaced on an interim basis by LaKenya White, who has worked for COPA since the agency was established in the wake of the police killing of Laquan McDonald in 2014.
White’s administration has since walked back the disciplinary recommendations for six cops — four it said should be fired and two for whom it said firing should be considered.
In each case, COPA adopted recommendations made by police Supt. Larry Snelling, who had publicly assailed Kersten over her handling of the police shootout that killed Dexter Reed.
As we stated months ago, COPA had a bad habit of e-mailing "investigative updates" to Larritorious's office. Then, mysteriously and completely coincidentally, certain reporters would file FOIA requests for Larritorious's e-mail records that were very Very VERY specific in their wording, keying in on the Subject Lines of e-mails, almost word-for-word if you can believe it. They would then write articles "revealing" internal communications, alleging cover-ups and all sorts of scandal.
This was a practice honed and perfected by the Sparklefart people in DC during the weaponization of government against citizens and political opponents. Kersten and her minions were using this to hamstring legit investigations, steer them in a political manner, and empower the "consent decree" people. Larritorious finally got fed up with it and (righteously) raised numerous objections that turned the political heat the correct direction.
If you want to read about some of the specific cases, click the link up top. You'll agree that most of the actions taken by Police were perfectly legal and in accordance with General Orders and Rules. The politicization was rampant.

To get this straight, you are upset that something that is supposed to be foia-able was foia’d in the matter that it had to be?
Obama's legacy..
so is larry a bad super or no? or is he actually somewhat decent?
So many nasty hives, buzzing with busy bees, the democrats practically write the scripts for ads displaying their insanities.
It's as if they all want Trump's attention and tender loving care they protest so vigorously.
The irreparable damage has already been done and it will never be forgotten. Something about a fable of a scorpion and the frog.
Kersten deliberately sent "updates" regadrding ongoing investigations, including information that shouldn't be made public until such time as the investigation was completed. in fact, much of this information was never intended to be included in the final reports because it was unsubstantiated and never would have passed the rules of evidence or legally admissible testimony.
but it was an "update" that the media then "discovered" via an FOIA request when tipped off as to how it was phrased in the Subject line or other keywords in the body of the email, thus circumventing the "legally admissible" or heresy restrictions.
this was done deliberately to shape the public narrative and bring political pressure on investigations, rendering legal and contractual protections meaningless.
google "stray voltage" regarding the Sparklefart administration and see how this was a deliberate political tactic to control narratives, distract the public, control the media, etc.
Important to note the following.
The primary author of this Sun Times piece is Tom Shuba, a mouthpiece for Chicago's exoneration industry. This is why he slants the article by giving "Professor" Futterman a lot of ink in this. And Futterman doesn't just train student lawyers at UC to sue cops, he has a law practice that does.just that.
If these were such “egregious” acts of misconduct, why are they almost 6 years old just getting resolved now? I find it comedic karma that many of these cases were reviewed and signed off on by now fired COPA employee employee Matthew Haynam who almost immediately filed a lawsuit claiming he was forced into biased punishments against police by his supervisor Andrea Kersten. Kersten then went on to resign to avoid guaranteed termination. Perhaps it’s time to disband and ditch civilian oversight completely, saving money on multi year non-sensical investigations that accomplish absolutely nothing. Enjoy your well deserved unemployment Andrea.
On a similar note a Copa employee once again was breaking the law and driving a motorcycle in an illegal manner up and down western Ave. Crashed into median at western and granville and as of yesterday is still being treated at Illinois Masonic in critical condition.
Does anyone know what that bitch is doing now?
I used to be CPD and went to a suburb department. Looking back, I will take copa over the process they have here for punishment. At least with copa you have a whole drawn out process and an arbitrator, here you are at the mercy of some admin staff that is always looking to make a name for themselves. People get 5 days suspensions for things that would be a verbal reprimand at CPD.
The problem is that Kersten never had to face accountability for her actions. If we want this type of behavior to stop, that has to change. She -- and her puppets on the COPA board -- need to be held responsible, penalized, and prosecuted for her role in destroying the lives of so many people.
Umm,,,,,,No.
COPA needs to go.
No keeses for them!!!!
Read the whole article, these antipolice police professionals are not happy about it. The one professor claims the system is broken. Sorry sir it’s not broken, it seems fixed for now, but I’m sure you and others will continue to push for insane police accountability. These people will never be happy unless us officers just get fired because copa want’s us fired. Admitting you’re a communist out loud without saying it! Thank you Larry Snelling for objecting those ridiculous discipline recommendations, keep up the good work!
He’s doing a good job!
Thats nice... FUCK COPA
I am a retired Chicago Police Sergeant with 31 years of service plus an additional 2 years as a CPD Cadet. I was the first Chicago Police Officer hired by the than IRPA, as an investigator, to investigate Allegations of Police misconduct. I spent almost 3 years working as an Investigator in IPRA before I resigned from the agency. I want to talk about the current Chief of COPA, Lekenya White. I know LeKenya. I was impressed with her professionalism from the first time I met her. I worked with her on the same team. We worked cases together such as Police Shootings, brutality cases etc. I have been with her at 200 AM in an alley, in high rise apartment buildings, and canvassing with her all over city. I have been with her when she has interviewed witnesses. She was professional in every sense one could be. She was not bias or had an agenda. She NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER ASKED ANY LEADING OR SUGGESTIVE QUESTIONS in an attempt to paint the interview unfavorably against an Officer. Her investigations were straight forward and again, with no basis. I can honestly say she was not anti-police or had any animosity against the police. For what it is worth, LeKenya worked her way up from the lowliest position, as an in-take clerk, to investigator, a supervisor, and now the Chief. She knows the workings of the office of COPA. She is educated, highly articulate, and in addition and more importantly for the men and woman of the department, she knows the street. I am not surprised at all by her recent actions. Considering the last few administrators, Johnson, who has an agenda against the police, could have picked someone a whole lot worse. Her appointment, I believe is a plus for the men and woman of the department. It could have been a lot worse.
You can do 1 thing right (push back on COPA's absurd disciplinary recommendations) and still overall be a screwup

So, is the phrase: 'to get this straight', now the go-to phrase to replace: 'let me be clear', as the alert to the attempts to confuse which follow it?
What twisted, tangled webs they weave
As they practice to deceive
Schemes and plots that turn to rot
Conniverings are all they got
Nasty motives, wicked ways
These are how they pass their days
Their nights are best to not dare ponder
As their musings thus do wander
Helter skelter thoughts they think
To conjure up their fetid stink
Then fling their nasty tidbits where
They fancy that such seeds will bear
The fruits of rage and spawn destruction
That, is thus, their only function
Now they scurry, to and fro
Such they hurry, thus they know
MAGA is on the move.
Grass is isn’t always greener on the other side pal. You made the decision to leave, now enjoy the consequences. Oh yea… make sure not to take the red light. Ha!
Agreed, CPD can be a bit spoiled.
Thank you for your input. It seems like she is trying.
You have obviously never been banished to 376. Stfu.
I’m sure you’re right, and I’m sure she was fine in the past, I don’t think you’re lying. But she was, at least in part, chosen by Johnson, yes? He didn’t choose someone to conduct fair investigations and not railroad coppers. So, maybe she was fine in the past, but if a shitbag like Johnson likes her, well, you can only assume she’s there to fucking railroad everyone she can. So, until there’s a long proven track record that she isn’t a political progressive Democrat hack, and she wants to turn COPA into an organization that conducts competent serious investigations and not this political clown shit going on now, fuck her too.

@ You must work in a posh suburb and you lack a spine against the bosses to say something or your colleagues. The people at my job respect me and don't bother me with non-sense, they know who I am and what I do and what I've done. Everything can be FOIA'd and looked up. I only give a shit about two things and it an't the job and they know that. I work in a town that would be considered 011 or 007 and they leave me alone unless it's for "mandated" bs. We show up, handle the calls and clock out. I miss the city because of the people i worked with and for, but not for the politics and not for the woke city hall bs. But hey they won't take me back so i'm here till I'm dead, I'd give a fuck less. I still keep in touch with my people in CPD. No COPA, no BIA bs and no "heavy clout political non-sense", politics yeah, but not like this fucking insane bs I went through and other guys went through on this job. No insane policy bs like cpd. Plus my FOP isn't run by the likes of a snake JCAT. Fyi- I was a 376 prisoner in callback for political non-sense trying to terminate me.
He’s a screw up overall.

Go to the Axon.com site. Scroll down to bottom to "community impact". Locate the Impact Team and look at who runs it. As axon provides our cameras and tasers, this was brought up the FOP Conference when the Axon rep spoke to us. Unbelievable.
