Glock Rumor
Completely 100% non-verified, but it certainly could affect Department operations in a large way:
Gun owners across America are buzzing about unconfirmed reports that Glock, one of the world’s most recognizable firearm manufacturers, may be planning the most dramatic overhaul of their product line in decades. The potential changes could affect millions of law enforcement officers, security professionals, and legal gun owners who rely on the Austrian company’s pistols.
According to a widely circulated social media post from GlockStore, the manufacturer might discontinue nearly all of its current handgun models starting November 30, 2025. If accurate, this would represent a seismic shift for a company whose firearms are used by police departments, military units, and civilian gun owners worldwide.
The unverified report suggests that only three models – the Glock 43, 43X, and 48X – would remain in production from the current lineup. These compact pistols, popular among concealed carry permit holders, would apparently continue unchanged while the rest of Glock’s extensive catalog gets replaced.
After the Sig incident(s), we speculated that switching a thousand-plus Officers to a different Department-approved pistol could have far reaching operational effects - you react how you are trained and you are trained with hundreds of Firearm hours at the Academy. It takes time, effort and a whole lot of ammunition to effectively train a decent shooter, and we all know how the City and Department operate on the cheap.
A Glock revamp would be a massive disruption, more so if Glock refuses to qualify Department armorers or supply parts to current owners of the pistol.
UPDATE: Glock has confirmed they're discontinuing everything except the three listed models.

That’s to modify them so they won’t take a switch
Probably in response to the lawsuit regarding switches.
Going Ape says...
Hell,...arm everyone with a claw hammer and broken bottle...
What could go wrong?
From what I’ve watched and what I’ve read, they’re discontinuing Gen 3, 4 and 5 because Glock got tired of being being sued by the democratic states and cities for the ability to put a switch on these guns. The new version, Gen V, will not be able to accept a switch. The first releases also will not be able to accept an optic.
From the horses mouth.

The Glock V will be the same guns but with a modification to the internals. The sky is not falling.
Glock perfection just got better.
Maybe a new approved firearm is a good idea. Since it has become clear that most CPD discharges are misses. Glocks are not accurate or shooter is terrible are two possible reasons for all the misses.
Hehehe. My relative worked for Glock in Georgia. Make no mistake...Glock Inc. are master media manipulators and marketing geniuses. They were planning on bringing out Gen 6 models next year no matter what. Now they're redesigning the back-plate and some internals so Dude Inc can't make them full-auto. It's really no big deal.
They're facing lawsuits but saw that as an opportunity to sell more guns. So they started a rumor that they're "discontinuing" models to drum up free publicity and make you buy the Gen 4s & 5s that are sitting on shelves due to a slump in gun sales. Just like they "discontinued" previous generations and then "reintroduced" them when actually it's been the same fucking pistol for over 42 years. They're using the 1985 New Coke campaign strategy.
Will the new models prevent modifications that allow automatic discharge?

They will all be the same guns people who have them are used to. Only changes are internal to make it difficult for full conversion fire.
Their product line was due for a revamp anyway. Let the panic ensue on youtube.
Looks like they are changing the internals to make it more resistant to adding a switch is all. Almost all models will maintain outward dimension and appearance, with just a 'V' designation to distinguish. Likely a response to the recent ban in CA, and the ongoing lawsuits by Chicago and several other municipalities.
This only affects the commercial market. LE models are unchanged, so far.
They’re putting new trigger systems in all of their models so that they cannot be converted to fire in full auto with a switch.
All current glocks will continue to work just fine and nothing will be recalled.
All Glock is doing is coming out with a Gen 6 pistol that will be incapable of accepting an auto switch. All previous models will be discontinued but still kept in service.
Glocks a good firearm, but there's better. This is nothing more about liability with switches,
Of the two reason you mention, one is proven false by countless operators....
Gotta love the fucking libtards. They sue Glock because inspiring utes modify their pistols. Yet, they never hold the same utes accountable for their crimes against humanity.
It’s not the pistol. 30 rounds a year does not make a marksman.
13 year old pookie has more trigger time than 90% of CPD.
The department didn't teach me how to shoot. I started shooting at age 7. Had boot camp in 79 too. Way before I was hired in 93.
Glad I'm gone now.
Go back to revolvers.
"Maybe a new approved firearm is a good idea. Since it has become clear that most CPD discharges are misses. Glocks are not accurate ..."
Glock pistols are fine. It is you who is not accurate.
If you switched over from the SIG 320 save your receipts, we won our arbitration and the city has to compensate those who purchased them.
Yup. Smart lawyers there.
The Glock, or any gun, only puts the round where the shooter aims it, granted it’s zero’d in. The Glock is not inaccurate, the shooter is. That’s not to say shooting accurately while in a life or death situation is easy, it’s simply to say the tool itself isn’t inaccurate, but rather the user. A new approved firearm won’t change that.
Stick with revolvers.
Now, kees me you fool!!!
That's right! Block just made the discontinued models collectable guns!
And a sharpened snow shovel along with a 2x4 with nails sticking out. Warriors... come out to play-ya.
I’m much more inclined to blame our pathetic qualification done once annually from a static position, and the fact that our members don’t typically go shoot on their own or seek out additional training.
A hammer is only as useful as the person swinging it. Glock is a perfectly fine firearm.
Gang members are not going to give up their "Glock with a switch" there will be a black market for "vintage" Glocks...just saying. If you think about it, gangs have never used more ammo, and their hit target ratio has never been worse. Maybe Glock did us a favor to hold homicides down in Chicago.
That’s the whole point of this. Hate to break it to you, but detective might not be in your future there Sherlock.
Yawn. Oh well, I'll just carry my M&P, or my Beretta 92, or my sig P226, or break out the wheel guns- model 66, python, whatever.
That’s why I’m a Smith & Wesson guy. American made and never any issues.
Opportunity is knocking for some visionary investing in stocking up on these still desirable, modifiable and availible in stock close outs.
Why, outside of these unconstitutionally governed sovereign states, the various modifications possible and federally constitutional, aka, legal, will make these models both highly desired and highly collectable, thus, yes, those in stock items will fly off the shelves. The status of ' never to be manufactured again, ever!!!', has propelled many a consumer desired object into instant scarcity.
Thank California for this happening...
There's a BIG difference between "Operators" and regular cops... Huge difference actually!
I had a Glock 21. Good gun but not a fan. Hate the trigger!!! S&W for me!
Buy as many as you can now. Once discontinued you can resell at a marked up price, especially if you list them as “switch compatible”.
Law is about money and power. Glock gets sued for illegal conversions by criminals not their employees actions or from their quality finished products sent to market. If arrested and prosecuted, the switch conversion crews and the unlawful discharge crews have no assets to confiscate via court decisions. In the law firm's legal get rich court schemes, criminals are worthless unable to be exploited by the well established legal profession's network moneymaking enterprises. Now turn your attention to Glock which has cash money to be made by the legal profession from the slimy civil litigation attorney to the bought and paid for democrat aligned judge who "earned" a "well qualified" from the in-collusion bar association and lawyers guild.
The National Lawyers Guild is a progressive public interest association of lawyers, law students, judges, paralegals, jailhouse lawyers, law collective members, special interest lobbyists, and other activist legal workers in the United States.
Follow the money and the "legal" opportunities to get rich from criminal actions blaming and then isolating the party in the pipeline who have assets to confiscate via court order and then liquidate. Transfer another's wealth to your firm's bank accounts. Be that successful partner and spread the wealth to your partners at the law firm and don't forget the professional courtesy for the black robes who got into law to make big money too.
What lunatics joined the company? Maybe the libs calling for carrying will stop it?
Let me get this straight. Chicago is broke. Too broke to make pension contributions. But still has enough money to sue the world’s largest pistol manufacturer to the point they are suddenly redesigning a successful 40-year old design used by half the world. If I was Glock, I would tell CPD to go kick rocks.
Hate to admit it, but I think you're right. My first thought was "I better go get another one in case something happens to my primary..." The difference in their approach this time is just that the prior generations are all going away at the same time. People got used to seeing Gen 3, 4, and 5 to some extent, all selling new alongside each other, and this change sounds...ominous.
Other thoughts I had: So they're cancelling arguably one of the more reliable firearm designs, because pookie? Where there's a will, there's a way, full-auto Gen Vs will be here within a year or two. The change seems kind of sudden, I hope the revised design will be as reliable and trouble-free as those made over the last 40+ years. And finally, so much for interchangeability?
