Ambulance Stolen
A driver led Chicago police on a wild chase through the West Side Friday afternoon after stealing an ambulance from Loretto Hospital.
Cicero police said three paramedics were taking a patient to Loretto Hospital in the city's Austin neighborhood around 4 p.m. One paramedic was still inside the hospital, the second was standing by the ambulance's back door, and the third was inside the vehicle as a different patient was being escorted out of Loretto by security. That patient ran to the driver's side door of the ambulance, jumped inside, and drove away with the third paramedic still in the back of the ambulance. The paramedic was able to jump out of the ambulance about two blocks away, Cicero police said.
The paramedic who had been standing by the ambulance called 911 immediately, Cicero police said, allowing Chicago police to quickly respond and give chase.
Thank goodness no shots were fired!
The driver then led police on a chase through the city's West Side. At one point, police were able to stop and box in the ambulance near Jackson and Central, but the driver barricaded himself in the ambulance and rammed into squad cars to escape again. There are reports police opened fire on the driver when he rammed the squad cars, but there are no reports of any vehicles or people being struck by gunfire.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability confirmed they are investigating an officer-involved shooting.
And they didn't hit the ambulance? Seriously? It's a giant freaking box, roughly forty times the size of a qualification target....and no reports of any hits on it?
No one seriously injured, but an Officer did go to the hospital after the offender rammed a squad car.

Lifehack for our younger officers: don't drive head on into a moving ambulance.
Now now.
Let's not criticize the obvious attention being paid to target acquisition before discharging, not damaging potentially soon to be needed equipment, risking being accused of a wreckless discharge, and not because of forgetting to don that jimmyhat, or properly securing it for the duration of the engagement, nor drawing the wrath of those primed to bitch about any law enforcement activity whatsoever, aka the dreaded posse of progressively nasty nasties.
Let us leave the careless discharges to the experts.
🤔🤔🤔
Eyes dint steal no Bambalance
Maybe they should train with the ferals holding their weapons sideways. t
The ferals seem excellenly qualified to hit anything nearby. That said, tis harder to hit a moving target, but, miss one that large? Dei strikes er, in this instance, doesn't strike, it flops briliantly again. Does anyone practice beyond qualification testing? Yikes
Sending prayers for the officer's complete recovery.
The sinking ship continues to sink. The city is slipping into the abyss.
Let me guess
A Usual Suspect.
It was a Cicero Fire Dept ambulance carrying a bunch of illegals just trying to get away because they was scared.
Its so sad that alot of officers on this job cant shoot..and shouldnt even have a gun!!
Shits off the rails. Where were the violence preventers, the social workers?
WHY would you put yourself and your partner in danger by placing yourself in the direction of an ambulance that doesn’t have anyone in it besides the driver, and let him hit you head on then you the passenger want to jump out right away when others are already there dumbass tactics Id be pissed
Less than 5 minutes away from Conehead’s house. Nice neighborhood!
That’s the first thing I noticed and said to the wife as we saw it on the news. Said “that dude is gonna take some days”. Seriously… what the fuck is wrong with these morons on the job today?
Yes. It could have turned out much worse for many people involved.
Three paramedics on an ambulance? Maybe they were training someone? That seemed a little unusual.
Or drive
leave discharging a weapon to the MERIT Sgt in 002
They need better FTOs like I had back in the day in 015. They need FTOs like Pat the "cat".
They obviously have no skills in leading a moving target. Would trap or skeet practice help them understand.
99 percent of those hired after 2010-2011 ish, shouldn’t even be on the job
Yeah but did they stop the offender
Was it goofy Hawkins people?
Ambulance drove into him
It’s ok he has 150 PO’s protecting him
Been that way for a long time. Generally speaking, coppers have never been known to be particularly good shots. But there’s a difference between not being a good shot, particularly in a high stress situation, and shooting the floor and ceiling during quals. Lots of coppers out there shouldn’t have a gun, it’s wild.
Take the keys out.
I was hoping the offender would turn on the Mars lights and sireen.
It’s an amberlamps.
A run away ambulance in oncoming swerving at cars and people’s , they aren’t taking days , this is one pursuit authoritized as it was endangering everyone . These guys will get a medal if anything .
There was also a paramedic in there when it was stolen dumbass
Young bucks don’t realize the city will crucify them if the offender is injured!! The officers are probably stripped already before they went to hospital..better yet they take them to the same hospital & they are next to shit bird in the emergency room. 🤣
Hawkins people do great work
Hawkins will stick out his long neck for the troops. He’s good at self promoting and kissing ass too.
Yeah NO Boxing in - plus the cops fires 4 shots at an unarmed ambo not even in its path - that guys toast
Never fails .. cops hating other cops as they Monday morning quarter back a situation they weren't at or have all the facts to. At 1st it looked like the copper lost at a game of chicken with the ambo, but watch the video again and you can see the copper didnt realize the traffic stopped as he stopped so he could possibly turn around and get behind the moving ambo.. thus causing the ambo to have to maneuver around the stopped traffic by going into the opposite lanes which by chance timed perfectly with the squad arriving at the same point.
Not the POs fault .. it was that shit head mental case that stolen the ambo fault.
So stop bashing your fellow POs anonymously on a blog.
If you think you would have done better.. sign the f up to be a trainer at the academy or a FTO.
Mistakes happen, especially when you dont train or get trained other than e-learning on a computer which im sure helps with their Grand theft auto video game playing but does shiii for real life street performance.
Great job to all involved and speed recovery to the hurt PO(s)
Hawkins isn’t goofy. He’s a hard working dedicated officer who was promoted off the list everytime. No merit
A mistake is only a mistake if sufficient information is known prior to the action taken which results in an undesired occurence from choosing the wrong option availible.
Exactly. How about all the Doctors and Lawyers on here, too?
I thought we were getting stop sticks? How about the grappler? Or take your keys out of the vehicle. I've heard that works too.
Amish i bet
