Hope it was a Sig so he can blame the gun instead of the lack of proper weapon handling abilities.

1000 days medical .. well that’s rookie numbers because when I was not putting crs on other coppers I was spending many medical days in my foreclosed condo rent free. I wonder if anyone will be smart enough to figure out that if my hand picked “board “ was supposed to monitor my spending and did nothing wrong why would we need a new committee?

I always thought weapon inspection for the past 25 years on the job was not only dumb but unsafe. at the range you point down range at all times, and always safety first! but then stand up roll call, which we used to do literally at least 1 day week, for the new kids who don't understand that. Stand up weapon inspection is idiotic, half of the people are incompetent and mistakes and gross negligence is inevitable. pointing a loaded gun to the side of you, potentially blowing off the head of a person next to you. Why they haven't banned this practice years ago is beyond me!

To make matters worse.. I don’t think this was a weapons inspection. It’s that time of year for Winter Inspection which makes matters worse. If the idiot boss wanted them dressed, then they should just be standing there with their refer and wool crown cap on in with their gear laid out on a table. No need to even handle a weapon.
Hope a CR was obtained cause that is an automatic suspension, But probably not the department is so corrupt. Not rank and file but command staff, these promotions are theft.

If a good weapon inspection was done, going to the weapon safety station, dropping the magazine and ejecting the round in the chamber you would be surprised to see that there weapons do not have a round chambered. Some of the weapons are bone dry -no oil on the slide- not good. That could be the officer next to you. Back in the revolver day, the WC would sometimes find dry stuck cylinders.
Ex-MP - I once qualified next to a guy who was so afraid of his .38 revolver he closed his eyes and shot the lamp over the table at his shooting station. He later plowed into a vehicle being towing by a wrecker and totaled both vehicles. The military struggled to fill quotas then.

It has been going on for longer than that...ever since wheel guns were replaced by Semi Auto's...accidental discharges have been told around the watercooler. Watch commanders who were only qualified to carry a revolver and not trained to carry a semi auto would stop, take custody of an officer's weapon, and inspect it. As if they knew something about it. Always seemed dangerous to me...even the use of the weapons box seemed unnecessary. There should be some kind of functional inspection though. I have seen officers with weapons that looked dryer than a desert and never fired in practice after the academy. My Semi failed to fire at qualifying time after 12 years, and I thought myself to be a decent maintainer of my weapon. Turns out my firing pin was jammed up with dirt and nastiness. A good service and ultrasonic cleansing by a qualified gunsmith were in order. I bought a new primary weapon anyways...I didn't feel comfortable with a weapon that let me down.

Latest on the Sig thing is that the Air Force fatality was one guy goofing around and 2 lying to cover for him. Goofy was arrested, then deleted himself while on release. Doesn't mean the gun isn't guilty, but in that case it was innocent.
If they up their QC and improve that trigger group I might buy one. I like the short trigger and the manual safety option, but only if it does safety along with the manual.

Funny thing is, it was 002 she refused to got to, then she gets sent there as a Lt. Either way she wasn't about to do any police work.

I can understand carrying a pistol like a Colt 1911 which is a Single Action Pistol can be dangerous in the wrong hands when carrying cocked and locked.

That's the exact reason I don't want to be a supervisor and don't bother to even try. Dealing with nitwits, whom we have more and more on the job, is exhausting and stressful. No money will ever compensate for that and your well being and health are not worth it.
