You really missed the mark with this one. John was found not guilty on all of the charges brought up. The board recommended a committee be established to better oversee spending and finances in the future. Meeting was today and It’s over. John is a free man. And word out there is that the Feds aren’t going to proceed with anything. They were given a tip by E.J. So they followed up. There is reckless spending but not criminal spending which is exactly what the board found.
They’re radio silent because he was exonerated. Marty Prieb and Erin Jones laid it all out on their Facebook pages. Poor Erin’s life mission failed. What will she spend all of her time on now????

Oh there was a meeting. And as predicted by many, John’s handpicked committee absolved him of all wrongdoing. Which is small potatoes in terms of consequences at this level for John and any of the others involved, but huge to the membership as they justified John’s use of our money as his own. The fix was in because Beasley has no clue what misappropriation is and went to several dictionaries and found several different variations.
One charge they accepted a receipt that was made 4 months after a tshirt printing with no form of payment listed. One charge Christmas in July, they agreed that the money overspent WAS NOT PAID BACK FOR 7 MONTHS, said it was paid back by the lodge? One charge said not enough evidence but said it wasn’t appropriate. ( doesn’t that explanation itself say misappropriate? ) he put that money into an interest bearing CD. Note, money that wasn’t his to keep he kept the leftover team money not guilty because it wasn’t deemed to go back to members. ( all team members donated and they are members) One charge not assets of lodge. Not guilty Charge for painting went over approved spending but it was for a good cause, threw out the national secretaries name who they must have called to ask about the auction. He would pay back the money in the future there is a plan in place. ( doesn’t that sound like he did it? But they think he’s not guilty because he promises to pay the overage) side note overage is more if you add in the Miami money spent in total and allowed. Cruise in Miami, No discussion of cash collected and spent on dinner just that cruise charged and dinner approved by board. ( well they were there eating it so they wouldn’t approve it?) Funds were repaid by the lodge. So they spent it and then repaid it from where? Lodge funds or their pockets? Because if it was lodge money it was charging members twice.
Board admitted he spent too much money so now they will have a committee ( that will collect a stipend) to monitor the spending.
The entire board minus 3 is compromised.
Trevino, Ortiz, Delaney. These three didn’t agree with the decision and now we know they see the truth. 2 abstained. Don’t know those names. There was executive session which isn’t open to members. ( WONDER WHY)
Also John said something about people not reacting when findings are announced. Almost like he knew ahead of time (orchestrated) and knew people would be pissed. Johnny how did you know what the outcome was before it was read? Time to appeal Mette. I think the state will get it right. Also hoping the feds swoop in before it even goes there. Hopefully before the next million leaves the bank. It’s far from over. We expected this but had hoped that the evidence would be followed. . A neutral party should have handled the investigation not the same people who ate the steak and went on the boat cruise. Hope that Matt Beasley will be removed after all is said and done as he is possible the dumbest, most gullible guy to not know that the dictionary is not a law. He should also brush up on the Chicago continuation where it states the duties of the board. He’s not doing his job.

The meeting was not cancelled. It lasted from 1000-1615. What a s--t show. Beesley, the committee chairperson, read his long report.
This is the gist of the report: Catanzara only made one wee little mistake. It was fine for Cat to waste our money on a $10,000 piece of artwork. After all, he and other former FOP presidents had previously done similar things. So, based on past practice, this was ok. But Cat went over his monthly spending limit because the shipping cost to get the piece from Florida to Chicago was $800. So, the committee recommended, Cat should pay $800 to the lodge.
Beyond that, Cat did nothing wrong. M.M. was the problem. M.M. created distrust in the membership by making these allegations, which were filed too soon. Rather than bringing up charges, M.M. should have brought the issues to the full board, where everything could have been peacefully and quietly resolved between all of the honest and trustworthy board members.
In the end, the board did not even vote to make Cat repay the $800.
So, it's business as usual at Lodge 7.

What’s really going on? Do the elected FOP offices really think that the blue shirts are going to think that all this is OK when the elections come up! Unreal.

The meeting and the results of the “ fair “ disciplinary hearing did take place . There were approximately twenty people to view this scripted miscarriage of justice . As soon as everyone arrived Rob Noceda demanded everyone sign in which has never happened before at a Board meeting that I can recall . What reason and what weee they going to do with identifying those persons in attendance ? Catanzara’s announced that h wanted no reaction from the members watching when the verdict came in . He glared at people in the room and seemed quite confident which we later would realize why he was .
Catanzara’s strolled into the room not like a person who was afraid of being expelled but someone who had already knew the results which quite frankly I believe he did . Matt Beasley was not present waiting for the second lawyer which we now pay $450 an hour to attend . When the lawyer finally arrived and Beasley went into his explanation it became obvious that these charges had been gone over by both lawyers and the verbiage they used to discredit the charging party as their plan of action . Beasley should have just got out the dictionary to explain the word “ misappropriation “ and why using that word is what they hung their entire case on . Matt Beasley went into great detail about social media , Fraternalism and other words trying his best to deflect what we were there to hear . Did Catanzara “ misappropriate “ money from members dues and if he did were anyone on that Board have what it takes to find him guilty and expel him ?
Right now at this time Catanzara could do about anything and he controls this Union and runs it the way he wants . The committee which consisted of Beasley , Covelli and O’Keefe “ recommended “ on each charge not to go ahead with discipline including expulsion .
This hearing was about as fair as the last election . Catanzara now has at his beck and call a high priced “corruption attorney “and the bill is growing . There were three people in that room who voted against Catanzara misappropriation of funds . Beasley abstained which quite frankly in itself is humorous . Here is one of his followers who like many others in the room does exactly what he is told . Anyone standing up Catanzara will be dealt with like Mette and
Kicked to the curb .
It’s obvious that this “ Union “ is in serious trouble .This board is responsible and complicit with Catanzara’s fleecing of their members hard earned dues and should be held accountable for their past three years actions .
The utter blatant corruption that exists now reminds me of what occurred prior to World War II. Hopefully when the Feds do their investigation a real and fair hearing will bring out the truth but far too many members who would have contributed to the Fop have already checked out and given up .
Catanzara right now a four time Police Board survivor who retired without credentials and can’t get above the first floor of 35th street controls this Union . It’s a sad day when honesty , integrity and fairness are extinguished .

I heard i was summoned. Ha, as for life work, I'm sorry but you are not it. I gave enough of my time, money and resources when you guys used me to run for Senate. I actually have a family and life that requires my attention. As for the board meeting, no I could not make it because of the before mentioned reasons. With that said, I also did not need to come and watch John's minions misuse the word, "misappropriation' as a way to get their cult leader off. Everyone knew how that was going to go down. If the active members want to jeopardize their careers and freedom for John, so be it. What does he have?! They ALL benefited to living large in some capacity off of our dues money. All of their “union business travel” is comped. Same with meals, rental cars, airfare etc. Not to mention that 98% of them work less than a full day. They all have their fingers in the FOP pie and I guarantee they were warned by JPud that they better place nice or the whole ship would go down.
This outcome at this level was 100% expected. Seriously… who on earth should be allowed to investigate themselves? It defies logic and a bylaw needs to be introduced which has an independent outside entity hear these cases at the first level before it can be appealed to the state and National lodges. I’m confident that this is far from being done as the feds have a ton to use against John and the crew and their day of reckoning will come.
And yes, Beasely has got to be the biggest patsy ever to run that charade of an investigation on behalf of his man crush. What John did is literally the legal definition of “misappropriation”. Admitted to by John himself and acknowledged by the board and the sham committee. But they simply justified it as business as usual with a few additional “unintentional” mistakes. They basically said it was ok for John to steal from us because he was going to reimburse the lodge at some point but other things got in the way and he forgot. Yeah, ok. Problem is that they literally defined his actions as MISAPPROPRIATION but refused to act on it. But they made a pinky swear that they’ll more closely monitor the cash register moving forward.
The silver lining is that this was all memorialized and there were dozens of witnesses present. Witnesses who No-See-Duh had sign-in (we took a pic of all the names on the clipboard). Names that can be subpoenaed at a later time to testify to what was actually said in the event that Rob’s recording of the event “goes missing or the transcript coincidentally gets altered like his general meeting minutes have a habit of doing. Yeah, they’re celebrating their “victory” but it’ll be short lived.

It took tremendous courage and determination to bring charges against John Catanzara. I truly admire this woman for her tenacity and dedication to protecting what’s left of the FOP which, let’s remember, is not actually a union but a fraternal organization.
I also want to thank METTI and others who’ve worked tirelessly behind the scenes even if they prefer to stay anonymous. EJ, in particular, has done a fantastic job shining a light on the misuse of members’ funds.
Hopefully, one day, John Catanzara will face his karma and a proper investigation by the FBI will bring the full truth to light. Thank you, EJ, for all your hard work. Many people appreciate what you’ve done stay strong and keep fighting for what’s right.

Just a suggestion, some of you should contact the National F.O.P. and inform them of the accusations submitting proof and evidence, including what appears to be a sham "hearing". They should be able to advise what is needed to de-certify Lodge #7. How to void the past election etc.

Over 2k fop positions are unfilled. These positions do not pay any dues. Numerous positions have been civilized these do not pay dues. Every sworn member who retires gets an application to apply for civilian police positions. These positions do not pay dues and will not. The city has five phase plan to civilize the pd. Almost every job outside patrol will be civilized. Almost every position in BIA, community policing, and even the detective division will be civilized. When will the FOP start carrying, when investigate aids and cold case specialists replace detectives or the retires are replaced on the board with active duty officers. Can the fop survive with only about 4k dues paying members and what will each members dues payment be at this level? The fop is bloated larger than hq. Also, the city is looking for more office space for all of the civilian employees. They are re-configuring the building and looking for off site locations. We are only starting phase 2 civilization, when will the fop care?

1.) Catanzara did nothing wrong why did we hire an attorney at $450 per hour to represent him ?
2.) During Beasley’s report he reported that on three different occasions they contacted the attorney to ask him how to proceed . Which one and why if there were nothing to hide ?
3.) The Beasley report did not start until the corruption attorney showed up and no members of the Board asked any real questions .

To protect your money and this FOP, the Board must immediately freeze John Cantazzara’s corporate credit card and limit any disbursements to his pension only until the investigation is complete. Right now he’s acting like the Board’s reprimand was insignificant, and his compulsive spending is a real risk to FOP funds. We need a temporary allowance policy and a full independent review before any further access to funds is restored.

How was the steak dinner to celebrate your victory? Hope you eat well because I hear that the food in prison isn’t so fancy. I know you have many fooled that you are innocent, but those of us who read the information in black and white print know what you did. At the very least it’s tax evasion. According to the law using members dues for personal gain is against the law. How did someone with your history of lawsuits and non payment of debt, foreclosure, repossession, and squatting buy a house? Did you get an FHA loan when you bought the house from retired SGT MARTIN? Did you put down 30K? That number sounds really familiar. Like it’s the same amount as the campaign donations. Isn’t it? Did you put campaign money in your personal account? A CD? Did you collect cash at the door of the boat cruise and then spend it on dinner and tips? All of the answers to these questions are yes. I cannot wait to see the 2024 990’s and see if your spending went up more than the 400% it went up from 2022 to 2023. Maybe roughly 1,000,000 in spending. You can all sit there and say this is a witch hunt but this is plain and simple police work. All of you that insist that John is not guilty should make an appointment and go read the books. It’s in black and white print. You just have to go see it.
I will wait for the real investigators that have no loyalty to John come up with their charges. I’ve been waiting for over 3 years, what’s a few more months?
