Another Conehead Win!
Another plywood-sapling sprouting on Michigan Avenue:
The iconic Saks Fifth Avenue store on Chicago's Magnificent Mile is one of several locations across the U.S. now set to shutter, the company said in an announcement of a second round of closures on Friday.
Saks Global announced the closure of the Saks Fifth Avenue store on Michigan Avenue as part of a "planned optimization across its store portfolio" that also includes shuttering 19 other Saks Fifth Avenue stores and 4 Neiman Marcus stores across the country.
Sounds like Saks is getting ready to go out of business in a few years, so maybe not entirely Conehead's fault - but the buck stops with the guy in the big chair when shit gets real. Maybe FAta$$ can get partial credit for the business-unfriendly atmosphere.

Board up economy booming under Brandumb Johnson administration!
The new tenant will be, Snacks Fifth Avenue.
I feel my property taxes going up already 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
No big lose never went there.
This is going to happen more and more as e-commerce takes over and brick and mortar stores become extinct.
I haven't been to the downtown or Mag Mile area in over25 years and certainly don't plan on it in the future. WHY ?
They didn’t close all their locations. If Michigan Avenue was still the thriving place it had been this location would have been one of the last ones to close.
Useless Mayor Make-up, who will be voted out on Feb. 23rd, 2027, will proclaim that Saks Fifth Avenue is leaving because of racism & President Trump’s policies.
Brandon's "Wilding Youth" are the cause of the demise.
and any day now cone head and pwickster will calls saks 5th ave,,,,,, RACIST
Another win looks like they are moving on up and look at the description of the offenders. I wonder if they are some of Chicago is very own.

Gee, you’re dumb!
It started out in 2020-
So lightfoot and associates
Look, I can't stand Conehead, but this ain't his fault, this is another leveraged buyout disaster! Not just Saks, but the same company owns Neiman Marcus & it's also going under due to the stupid buyout which saddled the company with huge debt. Customers of both have said the store stocks are bare & the customer service is non-existent!
This is no longer a laughing matter....Crain's Chicago Business (paywall so can't link) recently ran a piece called "What Chicago can learn from Detroit", and advocates for a chapter 9 bankruptcy for Chicago.
check the local gas stations for vehicle getting $3 worth of gas
The North Shore assholes deserve a taste of what they promote and fund.
Lose the Mag Mile and the Loop you have lost the city!
Guv Porkulum should induce a few plywood mills to locate in Villainois. They will be kept busy. For a while.
I'd hate to own a condo on the near north side. Resale values are plummeting. Monthly fees are skyrocketing.
I say Dollar Tree.
Absolutely correct Amazon has changed the way people shop. Every day you see them making deliveries multiple times. No need to go to a store anymore.
Yes no reason to go there. Looks like a lot of people agree. That’s why stores are closing, no customers.
But lotsa people wit lotsa money did. Some of that spending made its way into the city coffers. Since Damnocrats don't know how to Not Spend, where d'you think that money will come from? See comment above.
If you can't find it at Dollar General you don't need it.
Quarter chips and pop, maybe a diaper or two, and single smokes. You sir will be a millionaire, (then they will raise your taxes and you will move to Tennessee).
So what...
Rent it to some RevRun and Whala ....we have another store front church....
Next question...
It only took him half of one term...
Thanks for reposting a comment from 1998.
As long as they don't close down Krispy Kreme and greasy spoon hamburger joints, our governor won't even notice.
Illegal immigrants don't shop there so mayor dumb ass don't care. Another democratic city done for.
Who cares about Saks..yea it just another business leaving and taking its money with... oh well DemoRats dont care.
So many other places, esp on line sites, that you can buy good brands of clothing and other items without the cost of going downtown..or at the cost of your life.
Gee, where is Fr Fhlaker going to shop now???
I never did either….so who really cares.
in n out burger leaving california for franklin tn another gavin newscum win
relocating corporatye headqueaters
Conehead and the shitbird fools have nothing to do but destroy the city
And the whole economy revolves around you.
No one goes to the store that’s way they’re shutting down stores. They are not going to keep an unprofitable store open. They are running a business to make money not give the city tax dollars.
Never went and never will.
Only use Amazon no need to go anywhere else.
Cost 40 dollars to park for the day….not me not worth it.
Really thriving…what city are you in, it ain’t Chicago.
Have Crain Chicago Business find out dolllar for dollar where ALL the red light and speed
Camera money is being spent.Sorry, Chicago needs to cut spending.
Thanks, must be time to buy.
Yes, Brandon believes in sending all the money to 63rd and Halsted. Sorry Brandon, that’s not a good investment.
Cold pops and bags of Doritos with plenty of hot sauce to pour in the bag
I’ll be gone from here in a year so who cares
I never did either….so who really cares.

Well, genius, it’s a little thing called “Tax Dollars”!
Not that you would care, because hey, it doesn’t affect you, does it?!?!
Those businesses close on the Mag Mile, and tax revenue dries up.
No tax dollars = no way for the City to pay for things… like your paycheck or your pension.
So pull your head out of your ass and start paying attention to important stuff.
Hopefully sears can pivot into this new business model
Really Amazon is the way to go. Who would have ever that a bookstore would become one of the largest companies in the world and most well known. Amazon is a household word.
Never had a reason to go there. I won’t miss it.
No problemo. More room for the stylish 711's, Dunkin Doughnuts, vaping, weed & hookah shops, and the ever-popular foreign rug shops. The Malignant Mile will be making Chicago Proud again. Thank you, Democrats, you have destroyed another once great city.
Give them a tax break maybe they’ll stay.
Dei play mayor Conehead is as dumb as a rock. Ugly fool.
people saying it has to do with amazon and online shopping, no, not really. the experience and fun of shopping, eating, seeing shows, movies, sights, and just having a safe, fun time... those are gone in chicago. there was a time, even on the trains to get there, but no more. All stink, all nasty. good luck, chicago.
Its all Trumps fault...lol
I'm emailing my stockbroker and telling him to get me invested in Plywood manufacturers. Pronto!
Another successful result of the " Chicago Loot and Scoot" program...
If the store was profitable it would be kept open. Profitable stores were not closed. When security costs and theft loss eat away at your profit margin it becomes unfeasable to keep operating a high rent, big loss business. Goodbye. Im sure they closed the Detroit, Compton, Gary locations too...
Don't demonize da yutes.
100% true
but the dems and libs claim riding the trains gives you a cultural experience
