Offender Charged

From the Sergeant Shot incident:

  • A 26-year-old Chicago man was detained Thursday after prosecutors said he shot his own mother four times, then opened fire on a Chicago Police sergeant minutes later, telling investigators he had been wanting to shoot a cop since he had a recent “spiritual awakening.”

Judge James Costello ordered Treavor Taylor detained on charges of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery by discharging a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and aggravated battery of a peace officer.

    [...]

After being advised of his Miranda rights, Taylor told officers that he had shot his mother but hoped she would survive so that she would suffer, according to Pekara. As for the sergeant, Taylor allegedly said he simply wanted to shoot a cop, didn’t care whether they lived or died, and that he had been wanting to shoot a police officer for some time following what he described as a spiritual awakening.

Taylor is also accused of attacking officers and a lockup keeper while he was in police custody. He was ultimately transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation before being brought to court.

Bunch of felony charges there....he'll probably have to wear two ankle monitors.
