The accident on I-55 and Harlem today revealed that one of the drivers (who died) had 750,000 in cash, a check for 1 million dollars and 12 credit cards in different names. This driver is a MAYOR DALEY aide. Hmmmmmmm sounds like an accident may send Da'Mayor to jail.

Anybody see the report last night on channel 5 about how the City has paid out almost 100 million dollars over 5 years because of Police misconduct? Was pretty interesting. 100 million dollars over 5 years! Amazing. I wonder if they are going to question why the City ALWAYS settles on bullshit cases and how that encourages everybody else to sue no matter how much merit their case does or does not have.

There is a tact or gang officer in 025 that wears one of those long sleeve skin tight under armour shirts with no other shirt over it. It's kind of disturbing in a homophobic kind of way. Is 025 the home of the Chipendale's, or the Sugar Shack?
Yeah, ok tough guy. Unfortunately, there are no more projects, as they're all coming down. So stop living in the past and realize that 025 is the now the shittiest district in the city with nearly 300,000 residents crammed in a 10sq mile area.
The "deuce" and "englewood" ain't shit compared to 025. And the coppers in 025 can and do out police all other coppers in the city. I know thats a tough pill to swallow, but its the truth. I've worked in many districts, and can honestly say, as a supervisor, that the coppers in 025 work harder and smarter than most others.
I've seen what they pull in in 011 and 007, and its more often than not a one bagger.
I'll agree that 025 has more than its share of goofs, but the majority of the people that work there are superb.
Well, thats my opinion. If you don't like it, then go fuck yourself!

Just a question regarding the black vest covers. For the past week an Inspector has been in the District hammering P.O.’s for wearing the black vest cover as an outer garment over the sweater, saying it is not authorized to be worn over the sweater, and writing officers up for it.
According to Department Notice 05-40 Authorization of Black Vest Cover, I. Purpose, D., states “Department members that the authorized black ballistic vest carrier is approved as an outer garment.” And III. Member Responsibilities, 3. a., “Outer black vest carriers which satisfy the requirements listed in Item III-C-3-b have been added as an optional outer garment for all sworn member."
It does not state any were in this order that the black vest cover can not be worn over the sweater, or in any other order that can be found.
Does anyone know of an order stating the vest cover can not be worn over the sweater? If so can you please post? Or is this just another way the Department likes to mess with the officers? Or is it that the Inspectors they have don’t know the Orders they are suppose to be enforcing?

The order that introduced the sweater stated that it is an outer garment, unless another outer garment is worn over it. The order also said that you can't wear a carrier over the sweater. You also can't wear a carrier over an outer garment. The original order never mentioned a tie with the sweater and an inspector started banging people for not wearing one. The union grieved it and won. So...you don't have to wear a tie with a sweater if its the outer garment. Put a jacket on over the sweater and you need a tie or CPD turtle neck. You can't wear a carrier over a sweater. Not that anyone cares.

You could never wear the previous vest carrier as an outer garment so why would you be able to wear the black one?

I must respectfully disagree. IMHO, the ONLY time the black vest cover looks good is when it IS worn over the sweater. Otherwise I don't think it should be worn as an outer garment. With the sweater however I think it looks good, provided the vest cover is black.The sweater IMO is useless in the field. No pockets, places to put things etc. The black vest cover eliminates those problems. But IIRC, when the order first came out the black vest cover WAS authorized as an outer garment.

D.N. 05-40 says the black vest can be worn as an outer garment. I thought the idea behind a vest cover was because wearing your vest under the shirt was too damn hot. If it's cold enough to wear a sweater, then wear the vest underneath it.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Dennis Crouch had already slashed himself. And when he refused to drop his knife, Seiser decided there was no choice.
"Taser! Taser!" Seiser shouted as the officer sent a two-pronged wire, packing 50,000 volts, at Crouch's chest. What happened next stunned everyone.
A Taser probe pierced the pocket of his khaki shirt -- and ignited the butane lighter inside. Crouch's pocket exploded in flames.
"The subject," according to Seiser "immediately dropped the knife."
Speaking by cell phone from his hospital bed Tuesday, Crouch questioned Seiser's actions,
"Why did they get into my house?" he asked of police. "I didn't invite them into my house. They come into my bedroom and shot me with the Taser, and it [the lighter] exploded."
The bizarre burning ended an evening that records show began with Crouch drinking at a friend's house, then apparently becoming depressed over his medical and financial problems. Suddenly, he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed himself in the chest and stomach, police records indicate.

I think the word "AS" a outer garment, means its up to the indiviual officer. So if he/she wants to wear the sweater "AS" his/her outer garment he/she can or if he/she wants to wear the sweater and doesnt want it "AS" his/her outer garment he/she can wear a jacket/leather as the outer garment.
