Robocop, Meet Cyberdyne Systems

Every single day, there are brave men and women, working tirelessly to bring us killer robots who will one day replace police officers:
  • RoboCops and robot soldiers got a little closer to reality Thursday as a maker of floor-cleaning automatons teamed up with a stun-gun manufacturer to arm track-wheeled 'bots for police and the Pentagon.

By adding Tasers to robots it already makes for the military, iRobot Corp. says it hopes to give soldiers and law enforcement a defensive, non-lethal tool.

But some observers fear such developments could ultimately lead to robots capable of deciding on their own when to shoot and kill.

Sweet. Progress is looking better all the time.

When switched on the new robocop instantly uttered "I'd like to take a personal squad and get me some hair gel"

SCC,
How about a post on a very serious issue of national security and health and welfare?

China is either intentionally poisoning us or inadvertently selling us tons of tons of contaminated, poisoned food and feed.

In recent months China has sold us millions of tons of melamine tainted dog and cat food components resulting in hundreds of sick and dead pets.

Chinese melamine tainted feed ended up being fed to and consumed by US chickens, cattle, pigs and farm raised fish. This reulted in the slaughter and removal of tens of thousands of animals from the food chain. China used melamine to enhance protein testing resluts, although melamine is extremely toxic to organisms, resulting in kidney and liver damage/failure.

China produced tens of thousands of contaminated tubes of toothpaste resulting in several national manufacture recalls. Colgate being on the the larger manufactures affected. Ethylene Glycol used in manufacturing and claimed to be harmless by China, US FDA says do not use.

China sells tons of monkfish to the US resulting in multiple cases of serious illness and hospitalizations across US and in Chicagoland area. Investigaion reveals the alleged Monkfish is in actuality highly toxic Puff Fish.

US Government warns consuers about purchasing or consuming any Fish from China today. Apparently China has fed farm raised fish melamine tainted feed and sold to the US.

It is suspected that China sprayed vegetables that ended up in the US food supply with formaldehyde as a preservative.

Am I paranoid? Is all of this coincidence or just plain greed by China? I advise everyone not to consume any Chinese edibles and to demand that all edibles sold in the US are clearly labelled with the country of origin.

If we are the world's bread basket why are we importing so much Chinese feed and food?

The sad part is that one of these robots probably has better discretion and investigative abilities than today's CPD.

Tasers, if I remember correctly, are not always non-lethal...so if these bots get deployed and someone dies, who gets prosecuted? The guy who flipped the switch? the Bot builder?
And would they be sent into a building in a hostage situation or deployed in multiples to break up street protests? How does the bot select a target, or is that done by remote control requiring a camera on the unit or line of sight?

The trial lawyers are already salivating....but then, they do that anyway.

the city will soon spend another 100,000 dollars plus on a robot that will wipe cline's chin after eating his 4th lunch during the tour and wipe his butt on all his pottie breaks.

hire more police before a cop gets killed. would that make you fucking happy. back logs every fucking day. i got denied lunch 3 times this week and i can't get any days off i put in because the w.c. says we don't have enough manpower to alloy the extra time off.

Will the inspectors be allowed to write up these robocops for nonsense minor infractions? Do they have to live in the city? Do they get a uniform allowance? Will F.O.P. represent them? Do they have to pay dues? What about promotions? Oh so many questions.

You are not paranoid at all, you are absolutely correct, and thanks for getting the word out about food from China. When are we going to wake up and realize that China is not our friend?

28 years Lt. William Corbett claimed that I would see the day when every squad would have a computer capable of doing case reports that would eliminate all paper. Cases would be forwarded directly to the Detective Division for follow up. All I see is more and more paper piling up.

If they are anything like the bomb and arson robots that cannot climb stairs - then we don't need them.

At least a 25 year 300lbs vet can accomplish that with minimal difficulty.
