Mayor Daley is going on the offense in arguing for his beloved Tax Increment Financing program — but experts say he is being less than truthful about what critics dub a “shadow budget.”
Daley has held news conferences and conducted radio interviews about “TIF”s in recent weeks. But in just 2 1/2 minutes during one radio interview, experts say Mayor Daley told a number of falsehoods about the controversial economic development tool.
And the article points out the most egregious lies. It's a great read. Shortshanks is rapidly losing his grip on reality.

I don't think he's recently lost his grip on reality. I believe that went away a long time ago, as his belief in his mayoral 'entitlement' grew.

When this guy talks like he's talking in this interview, he's talking in a way that was once described as "talking like he's got a paper asshole."
I wished the interviewer would have asked, "In diverting hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayers money to these TIFs at the expense of the non TIF areas of the city that must make-up for the shortfall of the siphioned TIF revenues that would have otherwise flowed where needed across the rest of the city, HOW MR MAYOR CAN YOU JUSTIFY TO THE TAXPAYERS THAT THE ACUMULATED APPRECIATION ACCOUNT OF THE 150 SOME TIFs is not on the citys books AND is not audited
independently by three accounting agencies supervised by the pope and Ron Paul or somebody with some damed honesty.
The media doesn't have the balls to ask him a flat out question like that.

Daley is a pathological liar. When someone attempts to initiate an "inquisition" with substantive questions, he stutters and attempts to put the questioner on the defensive or tries to change the subject. If that doesn't work, he picks up his toys and walks out.

Daley always lies, that's nothing new. What is new is people are starting to see the truth.
Long ago when the city was taken care of, his supporters had their political spots, and the minorities were placated, no one paid attention to the lies. Now that the city is going to hell, and no one is getting taken care of, everyone is quite aware of the problems.
Don't know the reason for the article but praise should be given to the reporter. All these self proclaimed "Watchdogs" never brought this to light. Let's face it the average voter doesn't pay attention to half the shir Daley gets away with.

The writer of this article, Abdon Pallasch, is a good reporter and seems to be pretty brave. I hope he follows this up with the reporter from the Reader who has written about TIFs freequently. Put them together, do some arithmetic, and Daley maybe done.

You know, I was just telling my wife yesterday that I'm not even going to clean parking spaces in front this winter because we had a bunch of fu**ing [group name here] move in right next door with 3-4 cars displacing other residents. NO consideration for anyone else, no neighborly thought process we can see.
They have a car for almost everyone in their house (AND a 2.5-car garage that fits plenty of people for parties that take up MORE spaces)...and park directly in front of our house too much. We're already fed up after only 3 months. If I bust my ass cleaning parking spaces & they TAKE them? Something's happening to some cars. And we can't afford to be in a war on the homefront with a bunch of filthy [group name here], so...
This just may be the end of cleaning parking spaces, & snowblowing for neighbors on that side of the house.

It was very refreshing to read all the comments about what a lying, thieving prick daley is. The public is starting to wake up.
Hopefully, it won't be long before Michigan isn't far enough for shanks to run to and hide. Perhaps he can join thief in training (son patrick) in Moscow, who already has been caught red handed twice & outed in the media. patrick isn't too sharp.

P.S. since the city will not open the books the arbitrator could care less what he says in public. Even if the city is in the hole they have the ability to raise taxes to fund the cost of doing busniess. Taxes on the NW and SW sides of the city are much lower than the near suburbs. We will get our contract and the city will be in the black ink just before mayor Chuckie runs for re-election.

Turns out chain link fences along with tarps to block the view are being set up around the empty houses of Bensenville. How much money is being spent on Sunday labor to fence off "Daleyville"?
