Two Good Rumors
The first one, we aren't sure about. The second we've heard a bunch from a bunch of places:
- #1. The officers that were illegally placed in the Behavioral program are supposed to be getting a check from a p.o.'s class action suit. The amount is supposed to be about 25,000.00 per affected officer. I wish they would have placed me in that program.
- #2. There are plans to restructure the entire summer festivities along the lakefront. From what we are hearing these are major changes that deal with unheard of things. These plans will be submitted to the NEW mayor. These plans were getting rave reviews and are supposed to make Chicago a brand new city with vision.
We don't see the city coming up with $15 million plus lawyers' fees just out of the blue. We'd like to see it happen, but in reality?
We can see some brainiac proposing a restructuring of the Grant Park festival stuff though. After all, when in doubt, announce a "reorganization" and pass it off as progress while some other connected company makes a bundle in the confusion.
UPDATE: To all those attempting to blast us in the comments, are you not reading the entire post? We have HUGE doubts about the veracity of the first rumor. We even say so right after the actual rumor. Try reading the entire post before going off half-cocked.

I was placed in the program in the aftermath of the SOS mess eventually this action on the dept's behalf was grieved and won I was ruled in favor of and should not have been placed in this program to begin with! But I have not heard of a class suit involving people placed in the BIP. plz help understand!

Maybe we're getting ponies?!
YAY Ponies!!
If we are I want a white one. Can I have a white one please?
Tomorrow morning I'm calling some of the guys I know that got put in the behaviorial program and tell them this newest news.....I'm sure they'll be glad to hear something positive. Can you imagine? They better be buying me a whole bunch of Miller Lites this weekend at Bourbon Street.
It's about time.
No more tact teams getting their days off canceled to work city events, but seniority based volunteers instead?
I believe it. My guess is someone went outside the box (God how I abhor that phrase)retained their own attorney, got the best and he has scared the living shit out of the city with monetary awards from other cities. But like I said, that's just my guess.
There's another rumor also concerning a Dets test. I refuse to go running to my alderthief, hat in hand, with my cash offer knowing full well that the cash line for this job could be anywhere from one thousand to fifteen thousand dollars. I demand that a firm price be set for the sale of this spot and if no price can be agreed upon, that an auction be held at a time when any officers wanting to participate are able to. Hey, fair is fair you greedy fuckers.
That's bull. No one is getting crap from the city for being placed on the BIS unfairly. No one that I have talked to that was on it has heard about any class action law suit.
"New lakefront activities?" Maybe like Tripoli today?
The beasts will not go mau mau. They got what they want. Just the taxpayers. But they're too docile, gotta go to work, pay the bills, raise the kiddies.
They're having seperate festivals for the Dog Asses ??
No more Puerto Rican Fest?

At least it's a conveyance with all-wheel drive.
And I want a pink one.
So the guys that have embarrassed themselves and the Department will now get cash for their efforts? Another great job by the politicians that run things. I feel bad for the coppers that shouldn't have been in there, but that's my money they are throwing away, too.

Get on the bus or get run over pal, the days of the revolver police have been gone for years. Have you forget, we have cameras everywhere. If you did what the revolver police did in the day you may be sitting next to my friend Bill Cozzi. Think before you act out there. And by the way get rid of those revolvers for duty work, ask the Detroit Desk Crew what they wished they had when the guy came in with a shot gun. Bet they wish they 12 instead of six. Times are changing, stay on top of your game and always watch your back !
Signed, the revolver police turned semi-auto police.
Hey, one of the key functions of the taxpayers is to provide money to spew out to . . . really anyone.
Retroactive raises? Sure! "Affordable" housing? Sure! $25K because you did bullshit Behavioral Alerts instead of your job? Absolutely!
Money for everyone! And judges bless the whole thing.
And besides, it's magic tax money that doesn't cost anyone anything anyway. Oh, yeah, the taxpayers - but who cares about them?
What's the FOP have to say about this???Sidney Davis was supposedly handling those letters of apology and DEMANDED that we sign off on any liability from the City of Chicago. Ain't that something? He wanted us to GIVE IN to the City without a fight. Our union dues should be going to high-powered attorneys that WILL FIGHT for us. When you are raked over the coals, you got to get paid for damages, brother.
Nice. 25 k. Going today to buy me an Escalade. Thanks for the heads up scc!!!
I call bs on the BIS stuff. I was in it and didn't hear anything and while in it I contacted to seperate labor attorneys and asked their opinions as to whether suing the city would be productive. First question they both asked was where you financially impacted by being placed in the program and can you prove it? Answer to both was no. They both said you are wasting your time. And these weren't from Fop or my buddy from john marshall who's an asa and don't know his ass from a whole in the ground. These were actual attorneys that specialize in labor law.
Come on SCC, that stupid rumor is below even your standards!! Go pull someone elses leg, mine are long enough already!!
So is everybody that was placed in BIS and not taken out entitles to this award or only those the FOP keep in the loop??
Re: Class action suit. I wouldn't take that o the bank. It is pretty unlikely that no one would have heard about a class action suit, especially for that kind of money. You can bet 25 thousand dollars that if there was one pending it would have been talked about at some length on here.
Sorry
WWTRPD? Probably nothing, then tell anyone who will listen how they would have done it 25 years ago.
I have to question the validity of rumor #1. I've been reading SCC ever since it first came out and have come to realize that some of the stuff posted by other people is either bs or garbage. But there is a percentage that actually posts true info. As much as I want to believe its just too hard to until a check or a contact from a lawyer is in my hand. This department has put me and my family through hell unfairly over b.s. My commander gave me shit, my WC gave me shit and personell dept gave me shit constantly. I wasnt allowed to try and go to any units cause you know ...I was a problem child and on the BIS program or even be considered for a Merit pick for anything cause no boss with a backbone would stick their neck out for me. The threat of being fired was dangled over my head on a daily basis by these people for doing my job and what was the outcome?? Our FOP forgave the city after they admitted fault then lied to its memembers while the city got off scott free. Yeah....im not in BIS anymore but if you think that for one moment that this department forgives and forgets you are sadly mistaken. Nothing would make me and more than 600 wronged officers happy than to find out that the info is legit, but after being dicked around for almost 2 1/2 years while on that program I just cannot believe it........yet.

----If you signed the paper that the FOP told you to sign releasing the City of Chicago from liability, then you are out of luck. The FOP was looking out for the City of Chicago's intrests. Real nice of them to do that. You pay union dues so the FOP can hire lawyers to get all they can for their membership. In this case, Sidney Davis informed all the 575 improperly placed officers that they had to sign the paper. The smart officers that refused to sign and hired their own lawyer get the money. A total of 465 officers get the benefit. That is all.
Holey smoke Batman......Now with the 25 grand I can buy that Harley with the black bat wings and purple lights with sonar equipped bat ears!!!!!! Don't worry about sending the check to my Bat-cave, I got the commissioner on the bat-phone now, flying over to swoop it up.
Show me the money. Show me the money.
Rumor has it that the Bean will be used by the PAG to predict all future occurrences.
what is sad about the person that posted "that he's gonna reach out to all the guys he knows that r on BIP."
If ur in a group of guys that u hang out with and all r on the Behavioral prog, than perhaps that entire group is doing something wrong.
Or maybe u should change the people u hang out with.
Just a sad state of affairs.
WWRPD? Let me guess they surely would not let the city do this! Boys and girls you get injured doing this bullshit your not covered IOD by the city, uniform or not sorry! Do you want the taste with all the animals attacking and they your using your own medical and no IOD! It's your careers, your families lifestyle please gel kids think first!

......that's why you sue. You have been wronged.
If rumor # 1 is true please post the law firm handling this so that other affected officers can make contact. The list of officers will not and can not be released, so I'm curious as to how the firm could represent all in a class action unless they know all the names. How is this being done - word of mouth or is it just the officers who actively sought and found someone to take this case. I sought but could not find any lawyer to represent us. I also made attempts to gather the list in its entirety to better communicate with all but was refused this list. Any info is helpful.
