Move to Chicago?
Employees of this company said, "Hell No."
In January, Fortune Brands Innovations, whose portfolio includes home and security brands such as Moen and Master Lock, announced it was consolidating its regional U.S. offices into one state-of-the-art campus in Deerfield, Illinois. As part of that effort, they are requiring the majority of corporate employees to move to the Chicago suburb.
When asked to relocate, most of these employees declined—but the company said it expected that, and in a conversation about the transition, CEO Nicholas Fink framed the changes ahead as a positive for the company. He added that while many opted out of relocation, the company still exceeded industry benchmarks for the number of people who said “yes” to the move.
Deerfield is over twenty-five miles from Chicago, and they still couldn't get a majority to follow their jobs.

They better be careful they don’t end up like Sears.
They probably can't afford to live there. It helps to have MD, DDS, JD after your name! The median, the last time we looked is around $600,000.00. It's a nice area. In that town and others in the area you will see big companies that used to be headquartered in Chicago. These companies have built nice buildings surrounded by trees, grass, flowers. And nice big parking lots for employees. Contrast that with companies still in Chicago where the workers have to ride the CTA where one could get robbed or shot or getting raped paying for parking. These suburbs welcome the companies as they bring in tax dollars. Better to pay the tax dollars there than to pay into the dying City of Chicago.
Crook county is the problem
Deerfield is expensive
Chicago's stench travels like Canadian Smoke.
Deerfield may be about 25 miles from the city, but it also is a very expensive bastion of highly progressive liberal Northshore wonks who believe that simply caring enough will change the world. Given the chance, I bet most of them would vote for Conehead. They keep voting for the likes of Bob Morgan, Brad Schneider, Julie Morrison, etc.
Deerfield sucks. It’s expensive and full of mentally ill democrat voters. Deerfield School District 109 also forced normal kids to change in front of a tranny. This is why getting out of Shitcago isn’t good enough. You need to bust out of Illinois.
Don’t think I’d be looking to pay those taxes for the schools to force my kid to change in front of a tranny. Lots of poison in north shore schools, don’t kid yourself.
Deerfield is in Illinois. Nobody wants to move to Illinois.
There goes their knowledge base...hope it was worth it....
those towns are full of warm and fuzzy liberals that want illegals and criminals free to roam around,,,,, but just not where they live,,,,, just like when all those pukes in martha's vineyard were crying when just 1 bus load of illegals were dropped off by them,, they said their empty mansions were not suitable for the illegals
Simply caring enough is a perfect statement. Until the progressives move into the hood nothing will change.
Deerfield is nice. There are a lot of men there just like me.
Now, keeps me you fool!!!!
What a great way to incentivize a management team/staff. "Get your act together, or we will move the company headquarters to Chicago."...Those words will strike fear into the heart of any American...lol!
Sounds like an excellent reason to get out of Chicago. And certainly, if the commute is the sticking point, there are affordable areas relatively close to Deerfield where the employees could rent or buy apartments or houses.
Comes down to risk vs gain. Nice area, retaining a good job, BUT it is very expensive, taxes and home prices much more, so one must either find reasonable living space OR drive back/forth daily. No mention of compensation or salary increase -might have made the difference to employees who said no.
Has a bobble-head Bob hit the market yet???
Guess is most had IQs higher than 60!
Chicago is very expensive I’m on northside, not in Sauganash or Wildwood and two homes are for sale in my block for $599,900 and a relative bought one a few blocks away for over $800,000
It may be 25 miles from Chitcago but, it's still in IL.
Kenosha is 25 miles north but WI isn't a heck of a lot better.
in all fairness deerfield ill is nice town with a very good police department
Deerfield, where I started my two decade sojourn through the greater Chicago area back in 2002. Those were different (better) times, but even back then it was probably a pretty expensive place to live.
Me & and My buddies painted owner occupied homes in Buffalo Grove & Deerfield in earlier 80's and while in prepping a living room we overheard the housewife say to a friend on the Landline, "If your young and Jewish, Buffalo Grove is the place to be." We got a great kick out of that plus her delivery was priceless!
Right near the Botanic Garden too.
