We Laughed Way too Hard
Nearly thirty years certainly contributed to our dark sense of humor:
A suspected shoplifter trying to escape Houston police made a wild and painful decision inside the Galleria Mall on Sunday afternoon—jumping from the second story and crashing onto the ice skating rink below.
According to local news outlets, police officers were working a security shift inside the Galleria when they were alerted to a theft in progress. They quickly located the suspect, who bolted through the mall and jumped over a second-floor railing in an attempt to escape. He landed hard on the ice below, and let’s just say…he didn’t get far.
Video captured by witness Ken Gilliard shows the man sprawled on the rink, screaming in pain. “As soon as he fell, he tried to get up. And I guess he noticed that his legs were broken. He screamed, ‘My legs are broken,’” Gilliard told Click2Houston. In the video, officers can be seen stepping onto the ice to reach him.
No video of the actual leap and fall, but the aftermath is still amusing.

No problem moron. You probably won't ever be running again.

I’ve been there many times - my ex-company’s building was attached. He fell a good 20 feet. He is lucky to be alive and I’m sure he legs and all joints had multiple fractures. He must have been on something because no idiot would just jump over the railing.

You know civil rights lawyer Ben Crump booked the first private jet to Houston to sue the Galleria and the po po’s He will claim the racist railings should have been higher to prevent his client’s fall. And those racist police failed to give him a warning that he should not run in that direction. The mope may not be able to walk again but will be doing wheelies in his wheelchair when his receives his cut from the multi million dollar lawsuit.

I worked with a few officers that had the same out come trying to arrest offenders from the projects in the Second district. The offender one time jumped from the 7th floor and made good on his escape.
During my internship at LAC USC Med Center I did a month of jail ward. Patient was transferred from another hospital. Dude tried to rape a woman in her apartment. She grabbed her gun and shot him. He then fell out of her second story window. Broke his arm and leg, also lost a kidneys and had a permanent colostomy. Dude was wrecked for life. Best part was when I got to ask him the history, “ so tell me what happened?” 🤡
those in the projects didn't have spaghetti legs, they had unreal endurance, walking up and down the stairways. they were a different breed.
it took awhile but they lost their endurance and strength once the projects came down and they had to move into the neighborhoods.
A Gordie Howe elbow would have been more devastating.
