A city commission’s plan to limit the reasons Chicago police officers can make traffic stops is moving forward even though its own in-house survey found that a majority of city residents do not want any restrictions placed on CPD’s ability to stop drivers.
That’s the stunning claim in a letter published by the three-member Near North (18th) District Council, which is charged with improving policing in parts of downtown and the North Side. The council’s letter said the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability’s own survey shows the public does not agree with the commission’s plan to restrict traffic stops.
And in a move critics call troubling for a panel that is supposed to be committed to transparency in policing, the CCPSA did not release its survey results until the 18th District panel filed a Freedom of Information Act request.

As we've related here, there's a list of offenses that they claim are "dis-proportionally" enforced against certain minority groups, even though the legislature passed the Laws by significant majorities and they've been on the books for years and withstood challenges all the way up to the US Supreme Court.
No explanation as to why certain minority groups can't maintain their vehicles in accordance with the Law, oh no no. They just want to give those folks (and people) a pass solely because of their minority status. You can fine white people (and folks) all you want - even though they are pretty much the minority now.

If an officer pulls someone over for expired tags or something like an unsafe vehicle violation and issues a moving violation or even a parking citation they would technically be violating the rules. What would be the basis for a supervisor to pull a log number if this driver beefs on the officer who did the traffic stop and issued the citation.

Why are POs paid to do civilian clerk jobs ? The only POs working an inside job should be light duty.
Did you know that the Fire Dept does not have any light duty positions? Either you are full time full duty or on pension.
Why? Because you want the timekeeping done right. If you have a PO do timekeeping, that PO has to be sharp and detail oriented. Not everyone can do it. That said, I have seen some real good PO's as timekeepers.

Don't know about Chicago but around KC (KS & MO), traffic enforcement has all but ceased. People driving 85+ on freeways are not uncommon. Probably see at least one person hitting 100 per week.
Lots of dark tinted windows but my observation is that a large proportion of drivers I can see are POCs. Maybe being so obvious is one reason they (used to) get stopped so often.

Indiana taxes your pension. Lake County, IN taxes an additional 1.5%. Property taxes, while still low compared to IL are starting to creep up due to the massive amount of residential cookie cutter homes being built to accommodate families fleeing. So now schools are becoming overcrowded, referendums are on the ballot for more money. Streets, once two lane county roads are being expanded due to the increased traffic, which during rush hour is a nightmare.
