Manpower in 004?
Anyone know if this was true yesterday?
in 004 we have 3 beats down, 411, 431 and 434 Tuesday. They don't want to give overtime. Unbelievable!
In a case like this, with actual staffing falling that far short, you'd would think that overtime was a no-brainer.
Unfortunately, with the "no-brainers" actually being in charge of things, car are left unmanned and neighborhoods underserved.

Ummm you’re complaining because you have 3 cars down??? That’s nothing, some of these districts have 4 or 5 down. Also, maybe don’t cry about it too much because it can come back to bite you. How many people were given time off?? If the WC let everyone have off to try and take care of people you may screw yourself when u need it. After all, after bosses read this they may say, “if they want to complain, then stick to the percentage and don’t go over at all.” Now you screw yourself and others. Thats why you should always shut your mouth about this stuff, yeah, you will have to work a little harder, but maybe a guy who needed the day got the day.. then one day you will need a day and everyone else will pick it up for u.

That's half the 30 sector and 25% of the 10 sector. That's alot of area not being patrolled.
Soo many coward Commanders and Deputies right now. Would rather see an officer injured due to lack of backup than put out some OT. The consent decree also said Sergeants shouldnt be covering more than 10 officers but who cares about that, in some spots Sergeants are covering 20 or more. Snelling wont hesitate to take away your rdos when he wants to but on a Wednesday night you can be waiting 10 minutes for backup. I can already foresee the merit bosses brain trust restricting time due instead of offering OT even though we are 3,000 officers short. These spineless bosses make me sick. Stand up for your officers or stand down and retire

Most districts are down 2-3 beats everyday. It's the norm and it's no big deal anymore.
To be three beats down due to the effects of the many beat offs is to be expected.

The shortage is correct but OT for anyone wanting to work their RDO or tour of duty extension is approved. Last week we only had the minimum beat cars manned and 6 people worked their RDO or vacation day off.
Could be true. Word is IG informed 400 that there's an open investigation into the abuse of OT by certain individuals particularly the CAPS Sgt who made over 400k last year. Ironically, said 9171 put his papers in to retire next month upon hearing the news. Something smells over there besides the normal air.

004 is a huge district, something like 40 square miles.
3-4 cars is a blessing. I remember not too long in 001, we would only have 3-4 cars up and no street Sgt.

004 is fine. 3 cars can handle the district with a wrap. Those 3 cars will have 3 trr’s and IOd’s everyday, but they can do it.

No big deal it's been going on for 10 years that I remember. I agree with the post about getting time off when you want it. Remember priority 1 on the street is take care of each other. The rest can wait.

No excuse to ever wait for backup because most jobs can be put aside for cars to assist a P.O.
When I retired there was a period that everything is on hold while they check if there are any open investigations so I doubt that caps Sgt. Is going anywhere if if they're named in ongoing investigation.

Problem with 004 is too many POs with do nothing spots. Too many inside working the desk. Too many CAPS officers just doing very minimal. Too many Do Nothing DCOs. Send all these people back to the watch now KM!!!!!!
What spots are Sgt's asked to cover 20 or more? Put it out there for everyone to see.

Tomorrow is worse for 004. They are sending me and two other pos to training today at 700 pm even though we work days and counting that for my work day tomorrow. Who is the idiot doing the scheduling of training to allow this to happen. So my fellow officers will be down three beats just because of that. It’s going to be an interesting day for them. Hope they will be safe.

There is no need for police in the 30 sector. They are never there anyways cause the sgts allow these dispatchers to use them on 79th st. Just to clear the jobs. There must be more tax payers on 79th st that need service

016 is not better, many days we have eight 99 units on afternoon where the 1st watch has a full boat. On average, each beat is the size of 020 district and all densely populated. New commander is hiding somewhere and won't address the shortage. At least old boss knew how to bring manpower to the district.
004 used to be a great place to work.

Bt.400 has to be demoted immediately . The buck$$ stops at his desk. Beat cars down and CAPS Officers do nothing , but they do get OT. CAPS do not work OT in a beat car cowards
Sgt was hard at work for 15 to 16 hrs a day to make that type of money. 95% of it accumulated from home. The other 5% was driving to and from the station, But is a friend of the front office, so it’s ok.

Just look at the unfilled police positions in the budge times the number of days vacate times the daily costs saved. This is an insane amount of hidden money. I have zero sympathy for the city. Just think for simplicity 3k sworn police officer positions unfilled with benefits and extras with an average of five years in grade. Here is a questions, where does all of the "saved" money go?

Caps no longer exists. It was disbanded in about 2022. These are now community policing offices.

An employer who is found to have violated the Wage Payment and Collection Act is liable not only for the amount of any unpaid wages or final compensation owed to an employee but also for:

Regarding the flsa lawsuit, I am sure the city will appeal any final damage calculation. They have zero incentive to settle the lawsuit and will continue delay. The supervisors recently won the retro arbitration and the city won't recognize the award.
