The Well is Dry
But the CTU thinks the money tree is flourishing:
The Chicago Teachers Union slammed Gov. JB Pritzker on Thursday for shutting the door on more state funding for cash-strapped Chicago Public Schools, deriding his thumbs-down as the “wrong answer.”
The two-term Democratic governor laid down a marker that the CPS path to balancing its budget wouldn’t be coming through Springfield anytime soon because of the state’s own financial strains, aggravated by federal funding cuts.
“What CTU and the mayor are talking about which is, you know, providing another billion or billion six for Chicago Public Schools, that’s just not going to happen,” Pritzker said Wednesday. “And it’s not because we shouldn’t. We should. We should try to find the money. But we don’t have those resources today. And we’re not going to see the resources from the federal government level either.”
At a South Side school Thursday, CTU President Stacy Davis Gates seized on the governor’s message of financial sparsity, asking incredulously whether Pritzker really meant to deny more state resources for CPS.
There are no "state resources" left. The cupboard is bare, the well is dry. Any money is either going to come from massive tax hikes, which will drive out businesses and taxpayers or from cost cutting.
Someone pointed out yesterday that Taft High School on the Northwest side has SIX assistant principals. SIX? For what? Obviously, to pay off political favors, but we can only imagine that this is system wide. And we still haven't seen Step One taken closing down underutilized buildings which would provide tens of millions in savings at a minimum.
You know, it's financial irresponsibility like this that might trigger a panic attack in someone who isn't even qualified for the position of grade school teacher who was suddenly stuck in a executive role.

Every week there is some sort of "Gay Pride activity celebration" going on at Taft. What the hell is going on there?
Do these kids actually learn anything in these public schools?
6?
Before getting on,I worked in H.S.
2 assistants, 1 curriculum and teachers, 1 students......
Everything worked fine....
Meanwhile we're paying for a 1st deputy who's at callback.
....or more debt.
That's what these two are doing, the double twerking ass to ass, and setting up for it shoving down our taxpaying throats.
All the CPS high schools have numerous assistant principals. Total waste of money.
Always about the OPiuM! Other People's Money! Chicago employees seem to think they are entitled to keep their hands in my pockets. My pockets are empty!
The entire school system is loaded with school staff that teach nothing. They are Student advocates, business managers,co-coordinators, and a dozen other non classroom positions.
Taft has two campuses, one in Norwood Park and one in Dunning. A total of 4330 students with 1400 at the Taft Freshman Academy (TFA) in Dunning where there's 3/6 of the assistant principals (AP) and an equal glut of support positions like the School Climate Team and clerks (10 at Taft).
So, 6 APs might be needed as Lane Tech has 4600 students and 6 APs as well.
(Did you know Chuy Garcia's wife Evelyn and Ald. Napitano's wife Aimee are clerks at Taft? How does that happen?)
Up until a few years, CPS high schools only had 2 APs with student enrollments under 1400. Then, all of a sudden, CPS high schools went AP crazy and APs started popping up everywhere, this includes 4 APs and 7 clerks at Steinmetz HS where their enrollment dropped to 991 students in 2025, down from 2350 in 1995 and 1600 in 2015.
(One clerk at Steinmetz was most recently making $95K+ and doing their financial books until a CPS investigation uncovered her sticky fingers, cooked books, and timecard fraud.)
The relatively new school in Dunning was given to Taft after Ald. Tricky Nicky Sposato (38th) sold his soul and his constituents for a sweetheart pension deal (combined firefighter & aldermanic pensions) delivered to him by Rahm and Rep. Robert Martwick. Rahm was planning to run again and needed the Norwood Park vote until "18 shots and a coverup" buried him. The new school in Dunning was his way of trying to win over Far Northwest Side voters. Sposato named Martwick his 38th Ward Committeman.
Taft has their Freshmen along with their 7th & 8th grade Academy housed at the TFA in Dunning. Unfortunately, Dunning/38th Ward residents only accounts for 11% of the TFA student population and the rest come from Norwood Park and all over the city.
[Did you know only 15% of Dunning/38th Ward residents are in Taft's attendance boundary and allowed to vote in Taft's Local School Council (LSC) elections and run for 1/2 Community member positions on the Taft LSC?)
How does this happen? Taft, a neighborhood high school, accepts students from outside their attendance boundary for their 7th & 8th grade academy along with their Navy JROTC, International Baccalaureate (IB), and Special features (SPED) programs. This has helped lead to Taft being severely overcrowded with only 1500 students Attending not Residing (ANR) from their neighborhood.
Taft's overcrowding problem is self-inflicted as former Taft principal Mark Grishaber knew more and more students, no matter how they got there, increased their chances for more money from CPS and a new school.
How much money was spent on illegals? You know those criminals from Venezuela. Also, why are there 7 vice mayors , so many deputy chiefs, so many assistant principals??? So on and so forth. This current mayor couldn’t balance a check book let alone a multi million dollar budget. Fucking embarrassing!
The CTU and their puppet mayor are the reason Chicago is being crushed financially. The CPS budget needs to be cut drastically. Buildings need to be closed and salaries slashed
Just ax Stacey and her ilk to contribute to the cause
I was lucky to have attended Taft HS. Back then there were two vice principles. The rooms were crowded, the hallways were packed between classes. There were art, music and drafting classes. We had a photo lab were we developed are own photos. But go there now and the building looks like a disaster hit the place? And they have more vice principles? The school board is the problem. Along with the teachers Union………I work in a district where the two high schools are half empty and during the school day we could hunt truants all day long….but they do not want us to do that?
Close the under performing schools down. Move the kids to other schools. Start enforcing the truancy again. It use to work. But why are we not doing it now?
When are the politicians going to realize they will need to pass Illinois legislation preventing teachers from striking? This will force them to show up for the job. And make them live within their means….as long as they are paid by state tax dollars they must be forbidden to strike. This is what causes the fear. If and when they strike is because the money is not there?
I had to laugh when I saw this. Chicago is its own tax base and it appears the rest of the state is fed up with the lunacy. Can CPS go bankrupt?
hey, those 100 teachers in 1 school have a hard day at work trying keep those 30 students in the whole school busy,,, it ain't easy giving them their free breakfast and lunch and teaching them they are oppressed
The bloated middle management and layers of bureaucracy is just the CTU's humble attempt at emulating the Soviet Union. At Juarez high school there are something like 4 APs, I've since quit teaching but when I began there, the school had 1.
Just checked the websites…
Mather - 3 assistant principles
Amundsen- 3 assistant principals
Von Stueben - 3 assistant principals.
Now wonder we’re going broke. Why the fuck does every high school need at least 3 assistant principals!??
Close the Board of Ed facilities. Give the money to the retired coppers.
Ahhh, Taft High School or as I called it when I went there “Shaft High School” it was the best 6 years of my life……
Teachers, professors and other college assholes are the real reason the pensions are hurting. Take a look at what they are getting, its fucking criminal. A state college football cioach raking in 3-400k a year. The cops and firemen are not the bad guys here like the media would like you to believe.
CTU and CPD operate all the same way...promote for political reasons and bloat certain peoples income....then drain pensions.
Plus 49 support staff. Several Conflict resolution, Diverse learners case managers?, ELL Coordinators? 11 counselors. 258 Teachers, PLUS 53 other Staff members. Approx 4,400 students. = 1 teacher per 17 students.
Who’s that?
Phatty Pritz should be using his own money to plug these budget holes. And start telling voting block CTU to start cutting some fat, closing some empty buildings. Wait a minute, the very idea of him telling somebody to cut the fat....
He and Newscum will make an unbeatable team in the White House! Another nightmare for another day.
Where’s the Weed revenue you promised, Fat Body?
The CPS does not educate students it employs adults. That is what it has become.
Cut about 5,000 jobs and no one would even blink.
Take the Taft challenge.
When you meet a Taft graduate, start a conversation, ask them who Taft was named for.
Been doing that long time.
Current results 50-50 at best.
Good job Taft.
I was at Lucky Grill having breakfast, waitress laughing about how much fun she had at Taft skipping class with friends.
Set her up for fine profession.
Sounds like CPS needs its own DOGE. Elon's free now.

They have no clue on how to cut spending.
‘Slap in the face’: Major blue state governor fatso signs bill opening financial aid to illegals
No.
Stop sending your kids to public schools.
Stop investing on your new Jeep. Send your kids to private school before they become brainwashed and start growing horns and a tail.
These nuts.
All of these "assistant principals " are there to rape the teachers pension fund. Yes. The same pension fund Conehead wants the school board to " borrow" money to gift these assholes. No word on how the "borrowed" money will be repaid. I guess local media won't ask that question...
Privatize and vouchers!
If you keep kids out of school, they don't learn critical thinking (not that kids in school are learning that today). If kids stay stupid, the government can do what it wants. Future generations of idiots means government control.
Fat Bastard says no more money for CPS the states broke so your shit out of luck ! You’re gonna have to raise taxes, and fees on your brain dead democratic sheep ! Keep voting democratic for more you indoctrinated morons !
Mannnnn..... The tuition at St. Rita was worth it!!!
They are learning, about gay stuff. It is learning, right? They will all learn about groomers.
Because the union members in Chicago fully believe that taking care of the teachers is much more important than taking care of the students or the taxpayers.
SDG is an airhead. She has zero solutions yet demands money from the state. If she was smart…which she is not…she would suggest closing under enrolled schools in the city of Chicago.
Other cities close schools when enrollment drops. Why not Chicago? Other than making a spectacle of herself, what has she accomplished? Crickets.
If "The Well is Dry," it sounds like there's already been too much absorption.
You have a great post. It shows the incestuous corruption of Chicago. Chicago NEEDS to go bankrupt.
Everything needs to start the fu-k over. Max pension is 100,000.00 and one has to work till 65.
Only Bad MF'ers go to Shaft High School.
When I went to Shaft HS I was a complicated man and no one understood me but my woman.
My kids in the international bachelorette program at Taft. Sorry, Dunning. Just more smart kids in Norwood Park. Saving me a boatload.
Irish welfare back in the day. They used to have 200 glaziers on the payroll and still have to call a glass company to fix a window. They taught the newer arrivals in Chicago well.
Yet JB was able to find $$$ for illegal immigrant students. Must be a different well....
Sure they do.
Pick their own pockets, overflowing with that swag we taxpayers produced and they fleeced from us.
Holding my breath now, turning as blue as the deep blue sea.....
You are 100 percent spot on. I worked for CPD for over 30 years. I also worked as a substitute teacher for a public school system. Not CPS but in a neighboring suburb. The kids do not come first. The administration is top heavy, the teachers complain how hard they work, and lots of aides are connected and dumb as a box of rocks. They work approx 180 5 hour days a year, not including summer break and personal/medical days. You will hear some complain that they work at home grading tests and buy stuff for the classroom. Those who actually do it are few and far between and after a couple of years they realize the futility and stop. Public school is a good idea when used properly, when Dems take over it becomes a money train for the employees and a way to indoctrinate the children. Some of the teachers who didn't know I was CPD would talk Shit about the Police in front of me. I let them go on and let them find out later from the few of my fellow conservative teachers I was CPD. It made for a good time in the break room. Lots of hardline ultra Libs in public schools. I did my best to try and minimize the damage.
Can you sell CPS to a private company? like the meters??
Jeeez... pay attention. Where have you been that you don't know?
My kids in the international bachelorette program at Taft. Sorry, Dunning. Just more smart kids in Norwood Park. Saving me a boatload.

Maybe he, she or “they” can teach you proper English.
For reference: international baccalaureate
Was that auto correct or did your kid’s smarts come from your other half
This shit with ctu and CPS teachers, both active and retired, has to stop. Retired useless fuck who never lived in city and worked 7 months a year, get pension compounded annually. For what? Work 5 hrs a day when they did work. Shopping in Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park on their 2 and a half hr lunch break. Should be fired and locked up. Felony theft. Fuck them.
There is a high school on the south side, I believe that has 29 students. They have 4 security officers and the normal full complement of staff. There are other school that have very few students and all sorts of staff. Close those schools and save a few bucks.
You tried. God bless you
Cut the fire department in half
Taft was named after the guy that invented salt water taffy!
In Michigan. I live in the south loop and drive to New Buffalo where the price is literally half of what they charge at the dispensary right around the corner. Then fill up the gas tank, a nice lunch at the Stray Dog and back home in 3 hours.
1971 Austin H.S. 2000 students, 3 non-black students and 5 assistant principals, one for community relations?? Obviously, nothing has changed
Their solutions are to suck more money from the taxpayers.
Just remember your weed is illegal in Indiana. Don’t get stopped.
