Stupidity Gets Co-Sponsors

Like attracts like....and moron attracts moron:

  • A North Side lawmaker’s effort to strip Illinois police investigators of one of their most powerful new tools since the advent of DNA indexing has failed to get out of committee. But the bill has two new co-sponsors, both from Chicago, suggesting it is far from dead even though its supporters can’t seem to find any examples of the technology being used to wrongly accuse anyone of wrongdoing in Illinois.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Kelly Cassidy, would ban any local or state law enforcement agency in Illinois from accessing a facial recognition database, and would prohibit agencies from working around that ban by partnering with or contracting out to a third party to do it on their behalf.

Tom Weitzel, the retired Chief of Police in suburban Riverside, was blunt in his assessment.

“Facial recognition is one of the most important investigative tools to come along in policing in 50 years,” he said. “Eliminating it outright is reckless and dangerous.”  Cassidy’s bill, Weitzel continued, “doesn’t regulate facial recognition; it destroys it. It strips police of a critical tool used to identify violent offenders and protect the public. No one in Illinois has ever been charged based solely on a facial recognition match. That claim is a myth, and it should not be driving legislation.”

To be honest, most democrat sponsored legislation is based on "muh feelings" and not actual facts. We could point out hundreds of examples without breaking a sweat. It's about (A) control and (B) loving criminals more than law abiding citizens.

If you look at the co-sponsors, they're the usual mix of idiots. And the ACLU supports this without being able to cite a single instance of anyone being actually charged in Illinois, instead citing a Michigan case from a number of years ago when the technology was in its infancy and the subject was merely detained, not charged.

Remember that democrats embrace criminals and criminal behavior. Remember that democrats don’t care about the victims of crimes (she must have scared the illegal immigrant so he shot her in the back). Remember that democrats love legislation that doesn’t punish criminals and allows them to roam freely in our communities to continue terrorizing law abiding citizens. Remember that democrats hate you if you are a law abiding citizen who owns a firearm becusse you are dangerous but allow multi convicted felons get away with whatever crimes they commit. Just remember that the democrats hate you, me or anyone who does not adore at their altar of convoluted ideologies.

Take a look at Colorado and their legislation with prohibitions on everyday attorneys to protect immigration law violators in the country illegally who have committed crimes and their cases show up on court dockets

Ahh the clueless must have heard about the woman detained for 6 months out west due to a false facial recognition hit. She'd never been to the state and had records to prove it. But the case was a cluster.

Anything to jam us up, make an "I'm first to introduce stupidity" headline and free the ferals. Remember, these politiliars hate us.

Call me old fashioned but I like traditional cat and mouse police work over AI plus I don't want to be replaced with a robot. Don't want to open the door to a possible surveillance State either like China where they have cameras up your ass and where you shit.

I don't think these leftist fools really love criminals, but they view everything as a violation of privacy and many have a sympathy for those who commit crimes as they blame crime on the thug being less fortunate and coming from an underserved community. Although, I have never read a definition of what an underserved community actually entails.Anyone who has worked in Hyde Park probably can tell you stories of crime victims who have refused to prosecute,

And as we know , none of these people really care until someone in their family or themselves is the victim of a violent crime, then they want to know what we're going to do about it. And demand "justice". The backers of this idea have some type of mental condition or are just straight up pandering commie infiltrators.

Facial recognition software doesn't eliminate the traditional "cat and mouse" police work. Just because you recognize a criminal doesn't mean you have him - you still have to do the capture and AI won't get that done. As for being in a surveillance state, we may already be there, although it isn't the state doing the surveillance. Ring doorbell cameras, security cams, biometrics to access your phone, your bank account, your office........ your privacy left the building years ago.

Love may not be the right word; their compassion is totally misplaced. They don't see the criminal as having any free will of his / her own, but as a "victim of society" that is only capable of reacting in a negative way to that society and perceived injustices. In many ways, it's a very elitist attitude, because to them, the criminal is no better than a trained monkey or dog - it doesn't "think" but only reacts.

I had a white Hyde park mother and daughter who were dragged out of their car, beaten, and robbed by a couple of usual suspects. They refused to prosecute because they didn’t want the usuals to go to prison.

When Hyde Park was part of 021, there was the usual robbery pattern of white U of C students getting robbed. So, we were instructed to warn the students about how not to become victims. All it took was the first liberal asshole student to accuse us of racism for merely warning him that a couple of black suspects were committing robberies on campus for me to throw up my hands and say “fuck it”

Database of gang members used to ID and track gang members? Oh sheeeet, that's bad for the gang members, better get rid of it! Ban it!

Database of faces matched against video evidence from crime scenes, etc. well that'd be bad for criminals, so better ban that!

Should there be limits on this stuff and how it's used? Of course. But you need a balance between Privacy and Law Enforcement. That's not an intractable problem. But it's a necessary tool - just like fingerprints, DNA, eye witness ID's, and so on.

Getting rid of it does more harm than good.

At what point do we, The Good People of the State and Country, start suing the shit out of these politicians? Nice civil suit to get their attention... maybe get it certified as a class action for added spice.
