Sun Times Saturday headline

Keep guns holstered, Rep. Jackson asks police

Well, we guess Jr. just wrote off most of the police vote in the next election. All Daley has to do is find a tame minority to split the black vote and **poof** another term (unless he gets indicted.)

We stated in the previous thread that we wouldn't be surprised to see Meeks twist this to his own advantage and sure enough, representative. Jr., representative Danny Davis, representative Bobby Rush, state senator Kwame Raoul and aldercreature Anthony Bealy all appeared with Meeks. Meeks has already said this will be the subject of his Sunday sermon and Supt. Cline has been sent to making an appearance. It makes great headlines and guarantees press coverage to blast the police and demand changes that put us at risk.

Remember this if you remember nothing else. There is a reason that there is no policy dictating when you can and cannot display a weapon. Love him or hate him, Chief Maurer is the only boss that states these changes are "impossible." But even he sees which way the political winds are blowing on this one, tempering his quote with a short mention of weapon discipline. Starks is quoted about "strong, decisive" action before an investigation is even begun. The political establishment is looking to crucify this sergeant. Will he keep his job? Odds are even money at this point.

I shall depart from most of my brethen and sisterthen on this topic, much to the surprise of folks like my bud BushBoy and all.

JJ2 hasn't a clue, but then again he was born with the proverial golden spoon in his mouth, like many the offspring of white politicians.

Danny Davis has led the fight for progressives in this city for a long time, so his reaction is no surprise. Ald. Beals is, well, Ald. Beals.

You don't think 1st Dep. Starks wasn't reading from a prepared statement? Come on now.... The department should say, look this officer shouldn't have sworn at a citizen, but we are not going to tell our officers to holster their weapons. Whatta expect from Starks, a guy who none too long again, while a sergeant in 005, had the Gately Stadium detail. He had a squad of officers whose job during football season was to stay at Gately Stadium. There were public and private games there from Wednesdays through Sundays.

Yet unlike those supporters on the right side of the spectrum, I can state when Democrats and independents make a mistake, but that's another story......

More Bush-bashing to come!!

The trouble is Starks thinks he's running the Department the way Townshend and Thomas did when they were First Deputy. But for the first time in recent memory, the power to run the Department is actually in the Superintendent's office. No, it's not Cline running the show, but a civilian, Mike Boyce, Cline's Chief of Staff. Its always a problem when civilians try to run the Department, as they invariably attempt to turn it into a political arm a la the 50s and 60s

Boyce was on the jobs years ago, for a short time, before 90, I think. He then headed up the License Commission, which included liquor licenses. As Daley'sstrong arm guy he welded alot of power on cracking down on licenses. Look for him to report back directly to the mayor and if Daley doesn't want it, Cline will have to buckle under.

After the incident, Meeks press person sent a press release to all the media outlets about the incident. I know I saw it at the station. He then headed off to Las Vegas for a ministers' conference.

To give him alittle bit of credit though, on Saturday a.m. on CLTV he stated, and I paraphase here, this incident also has an effect on the officer and his family.

only mistake the sarge made was giving a "****" that the car pulled up behind him at the intersection and not wanting to wait the three sconds behind the squad pulled around him, in complete contempt for the office...sorry, but if I pulled over a vehicle and someone jumped out(and I wouldn't know Meeks if he stepped on my foot)and then two more cars pulled up and guys jumped out at me I'd have my gun out too...and I'd probably use a few swear words... my suggestion...no more traffic stops....Meeks has now set the stage for future traffic stops. JJ JR is just totally irresponsible in his position....you know what lets just not have any guns....where is the FOP?

Rev. Meeks new mega-church opened two weeks ago just stone's throw south of the 005th district/Area 2. Church security had 111th st. blocked at Corliss ave. so they could coordinate parking. As far as I know, 005th District police did nothing.

It should be interesting to see what the superintendent says this morning at the services and if Dana shall be at his side.

Hmmm......No OBAMA? Meeks is the ultimate in religious hipocracy. A christian minister ...don't make me laugh.......Christians are taught restraint, and heres a term unknown to both Meeks and Jackson
Humility......Meeks is a phony......but what else is new......
