Contract Violation Jackpot

  • In 2006 the Dept opened the Juvenile Intervention and Support Center and opened it up for bid to Detectives. No one bid and the Department filled it "at the Department's discretion". These officers soon bid out of the JISC and the Dept then involuntarily detailed a different group of officers to the JISC. After their details ended they were then involuntarily assigned to the JISC based upon the "valuable experience" they had obtained during their involuntarily detail.

The Lodge went to arbitration and the arbitrator found the original transfers were OK because no one had bid, however the subsequent Detail and reassignment violated the contract. He awarded the officers time and one half for each day they were improperly detailed

The City took the rare move to file in court and ask a judge to set aside the arbitrator's award. Our attorneys fought the City on this. On today's date Judge Peter Flynn rejected the City's arguments and confirmed the Arbitrator's award of time and one half to these officers.
That's time-and-one-half for the entire terms of the details, which in some cases ended up being quite lengthy. And for days they worked holidays and OT? Ouch. Nice job.

What the fuck doesn't Dickey, J-Fed and other exempts get? Follow the fucking contract! Stop playing contract games with coppers' lives and careers, you fucking nitwits.

Also, maybe these brain children called exempts should stop coming up with jack-ass ideas. Doesn't anyone at 35th/Mich see that returning to police basics will work very well? It will work a lot better than the lamed brain ideas they come up with.

Good for those officers who got screwed over.

YES!!! A couple of these people worked in my unit and basically got shafted, being pulled out of their assignments and sent off to the gulag like that.

Can't tell you how happy I am to see them getting Christmas in April. Print those checks, superintendent; you made the same 'mistake' twice. You refused to learn after the FIRST group won their case and huge checks, so you DESERVE to have to pay again.

Remember, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Do it a third time and you'll be cutting another batch of ten thousand dollar checks. Come to think of it, it's almost like winning the lottery.

And to think some people were actually threatened to be sent there as punishment. What a country!

Now that does it. The City will claim they don't have money to pay us raises in any new contract because they have to pay large damage awards such as this due to stupidity and totally ignoring the contract and also ignoring the truckload of grievances filed after these details started.

"We can't pay because we spent the money on the last stupid move we made" Richard M. Daley might claim, correctly.

And the taxpayers pay, again.

That will be some big money! Just like my girl friend who was dumped to 018 by her supposed friend, in unit 051! When will j-fed realize idiots in charge will cost the dept budget millions! She will be getting time +1/2 because the C.O. refused to let her back violating another order. Time for change Supt Weis and NOW!

The mayor has truely lost his mind!

With or without the Olympics, he's planning to use $500 million for a landscaped roof over the Kennedy expressway?

http://www.suntimes.com/business/1503475,CST-NWS-action31.article

I can hear the chant now:

Pay for police - not a green roof!
You have the money - Daley's a goof!

From the Tribune:

"A $377 million plan foresees moving part of Lake Shore Drive east from Navy Pier to the Oak Street curve, creating space for bike and pedestrian paths."

We've moved lake shore drive twice now- do we really need to do this again? In this economy?

While I think it's great that we won, it will continue to happen. Why would the midget or J-Pud give a shit? They did what they wanted and it didn't cost them a dime! The taxpayers are on the hook again for these fucking INCOMPETENT bosses! Until the courts finally start finding these fuckin idiots personally liable for their blatant violations, nothing will change.
But i'll savor the win anyway!

Wait until Sgt louie who was dumped to 007 gets his payout! The girl who dumped him will see how dumb she really is! Will she go from her self to former "The crying Sergeant?" From spoiled child with rich parents,to a spoiled boss with CLOUT! The days change but the game remains the same!!
