Bye-Bye Ike!
- Federal authorities later Thursday plan to announce charges against Ald. Ike Carothers (29th), the chairman of the City Council's police and fire committee.
They issued an alert Thursday indicating that new charges are expected in a public corruption case involving an FBI investigation.
Federal prosecutors and the FBI will hold a 2 p.m. news conference.
Also, a U.S. Attorney’s spokesman said a separate, unrelated case involving racketeering activity, armed robberies, arson and illegal gambling will also be unsealed.
So is this second indictment for Ike, too? Or is there a parallel Outift case working its way through the system?
UPDATE: The second indictment is a suburban Outfit case.

One of the 1st gen Tahoes also showed up, it's front lightbar dangling off to the rear the vehicle, held in place only by the power cord. Upon further investigation, it seems there were 5 screw holes drilled on both sides to hold the lightbar in place, but only 1 small screw was used for each side. Great mechanics, eh?

I was doing a project with the CPD as a civilian and had a meeting with a group that included Kathie Carothers at HQ. I had no idea who she was, other then a CAPS person. She was so sub-par on a professional level, no ideas, ill-spoken, bad attitude I kept thinking - who IS this person and how did she get hired and why she is in charge of anything? Not only was she clueless, she was completely condescending. Afterward I asked someone and the response was, " That's Ike's sister " with a big roll of the eyes. Man if that is an example of the clout hires you have to deal with...you have my sympathy. Is she still working for CAPS?

Thursday,a.m., I first heard that there was a press conference being held by Fitz at 2:00, to announce an indictment against a high ranking public official. I was really disappointed that it wasn't Burke. Not that Ike d/n deserve it, but I would love Burke to get his comeuppance. I guess Daley doesn't want him (Burke) to be thrown under the bus(just yet).

CAPS is, and always has been a Democratic welfare organization for their votes. It hasn't done a thing for crime reduction and is a public relations failure. Look at all the money wasted. We could have spent it on equipment or personnel.
Years ago someone in motor maitenance scrapped all of our squads for pennies on the dollar. This is why we haven't had enough pool cars. Soemone made a little money at the expense of our safety. No one fired, investigated or demoted. There is a story here.
The K-9 list is ready and sent up the chain. There are no merit picks in K-9, but the list will get "adjusted". It always does. They were ready with it weeks ago, the Federal money for them is in the bank, but politics rears it's ugly head again.
I was doing a project with the CPD as a civilian and had a meeting with a group that included Kathie Carothers at HQ. I had no idea who she was, other then a CAPS person. She was so sub-par on a professional level, no ideas, ill-spoken, bad attitude I kept thinking - who IS this person and how did she get hired and why she is in charge of anything? Not only was she clueless, she was completely condescending. Afterward I asked someone and the response was, " That's Ike's sister " with a big roll of the eyes. Man if that is an example of the clout hires you have to deal with...you have my sympathy. Is she still working for CAPS?

What happened to the CPD ?
In the 70's ,80's there were no 1 man units on patrol during the 1st and 3rd watch. Every district had 3wagons on patrol. During the 2nd watch we had a few 2 man cars.
Districts had officers assigned to parks , foot patrols and all the beats were working. There were no watch secretary or six officers assigned to caps. We were the police and the bosses were good.
The police wives protested and demanded 2 man cars and got it .
What the hell happened to the CPD.

Please look into the how's and why's of this city's "vendor" program that gives "clout- sorry..."minority-owned" vendors 20% mark ups for placing a phone call to manufacturers to re-affirm already ordered department equipment. DHS auditors were pissed asking why haven't we "spent" the money that was issued THREE YEARS ago. They shook their head when you explain to them about the city's "vendor" program.
