Trooper Injured

ISP had a trooper hit on the Dan Ryan yesterday.
  • An Illinois State Police trooper was hit by a vehicle about 9 p.m. tonight on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

The female trooper suffered a broken leg, but the injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening, said Larry Langford, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

He could not say whether she was inside or outside her squad car when hit by the vehicle. She was taken via ambulance to Stroger Hospital.

Well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery here only.

Was on scene as well as at the hospital. From what I heard she was between her vehicle and another when her vehicle was rear ended. So far a broken pelvis, femer, as well as a host of other things. The good news is she was alert and responsive and could also feel everything that was going on.

Hopefully she'll make a full recovery. I've met her a couple of times on those bullshit joint missions. She's a nice lady and very friendly. Great response by 007,003, and the outside units on scene. Also en route to Stroger the 012th did a great job ensuring the route to the hospital was clear. Despite all this bullshit going on in our department as well as our line of work, it was a great f**king feeling to see coppers come together when another is in need. It reminded me why I joined

Heard she was in critical condition.

No way this should be happening so close to our loss of Sgt Haymaker.

Hope that critical condition tag was only a precaution and she will be up and around shortly.

ISPeeved has up the Breaking News link that as of midnight is reporting "The female trooper suffered a broken leg, but the injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening".

BUT, "A state police sergeant said the trooper also might have suffered head injuries, and she was being treated at Stroger Hospital of Cook County".

We're praying for you, Trooper.

Correction. She was actually struck as she was conducting a traffic stop. The offending driver was not a DUI nor under the influence of any narcotic. The offending driver was on their cell phone texting when this incident occurred. At the time of this post, the ISP were looking at trying to get charges under Scotts Law. Hopefully the ASA's will not drop this one. The injuries of the trooper are quite extensive. She'll live, but has a long recovery ahead of her

If the city does not non-suit every one of those tickets, we should bombard the media and the politicians with thousands of calls and E-Mails. I would think someone told the people from Department of Revenue what was going on before they started writing. If so this is a war against them.

Was listening on zone 13, 012/009
great job to all involved, who was the Sgt in 012? had the e-way shut down, all the ramps and intersections blocked for the ambulance all the way to Stroger, is there protocol for that for the sgts in 012? is was so smooth it sounded like it's been done before because it went off without incident. kudos to all involved!!

unfortunately, 012 has experience in injured / shot officers taken to Stroger. The W/C gets a heads up from the Zone and the WC and Sgts head to the hospital to get everything up and running. Parking lot shut down and officers posted at E/R to keep press from setting up, E/R rooms are set up for investigators family, and chaplains and cars are made available for escorts or to go get family members. The W/C and sgts make sure all needs are met. I guess now they have to make sure DOR doesn't start writing tickets. On many occasions, when they get the heads up on a deceased officer's remains being brought to the morgue, they set up an honor guard and blue lights going on the cars to meet the body of the deceased officer.
012 may be a slow district but they know how to kick it into high gear when a P.O. is injured.
