Breaking - Charges in Blake Killing
- A Chicago teenager was charged tonight in the slaying of Chicago Police Officer David Blake, who was shot and killed last month in his SUV on the Southwest Side, authorities said.
A charge of first-degree murder was approved tonight against Bernard Williams, 18, the Cook County state's attorney's office said.
Blake was off-duty when he was found dead inside the vehicle in the 2900 block of West Seipp Street in the Wrightwood neighborhood on the evening of Nov. 22.

I hope this will dispell all bullshit rumors and nonsense about Dave. He was a good man and died over some bullshit.
The craziest thing about this whole nightmare is that his ex-girlfriend attended the wake and funeral and did her best ghetto drama, fake-ass, aligator tears-none fell, show for the crowd. It was her brother that confessed to killing Dave. Fucking senseless.
RIP Dave, you are missed!

I couldn't agree more. Nothing is worse than hearing all of these bullshit rumors immediately after one of our own has been taken. I hope all of the jack asses that bought into these rumors and continued them by spreading them feel like the assholes that they are. There is no place in this profession for people like that. I hope these idiots that are worse than high school girls have their names dragged through the dirt just like they did to this officer's memory.

Uh -- no disrespect intended to anyone, but would it be OK if we found out what happened? Maybe there'll be some more information in the newspapers' morning editions.

One begs for an answer to this question...if this kid lived with Blake before, he was familiar with his rountine. So why not wait until he left for work (giving him at least 8 hours) and burglarize the house?

Tiara Ellis Richard said Arlington officer Jillian Michelle Smith, 24, was shot by Barnes Samuel Nettles on Tuesday night as she sought to shield the girl from the 38-year-old man after he entered the apartment of Kimberly Deshay Carter, 29. After shooting Smith, Nettles shot Carter to death in a back bedroom, then returned to the living room, where he killed himself, Richard said.
"It appears (Smith) was moving in the direction of the child in an effort to protect her and, in that process, she was shot," Richard said, citing the girl's statement and forensic evidence.

If you are going to thank someone at least thank the right people, it was Area 1 who cleared the case not Area 2
Area 1 Detectives handled this case, NOT Area 2. God Bless them for doing such a precise, thorough investigation. All this despite the fact that Patricia Walsh is the Commander!
Just watched CBS 2 at 10pm and the coverage on Blake's murderer. I thought this before and tonight just reconfirmed it, that Kristyn Hartman is a kniving bitch. Wheter she is genuinely anti- CPD or just plays the part, she always is trying to make us look like shit. "The police claim they have the right man, but are missing two key pieces of evidence, the gun and the keys to Blake's truck." Gee Kristyn, he only had 38 frickin days to dispose of those items! But what do you expect from a woman who takes great pride in interviewing family members of offenders shot by the police even though they weren't there. I strongly recommend not speaking to the media in general, but make sure you avoid her like the plague.

who cares who was thanked. job was done. we all know people that arent responsible claim they figured it out anyway. theres always a glory hound. i know quite a few tact ofcs that dont like to give proper thanks to suburban officers that catch fleeing suspects for them..... and not include them in paper cuz they want the pinch.

In defense of Channel 2 news reporter Kristyn Hartman, I've had a minor crush on her since she did the "gotta run" interview with the COWARD J-FLED complete with gunfire and wailing sirens in the audio background.
The fatal shooting of Reginald Myers a mere 45 seconds away from this alien poseur remains an unsolved homicide.
