Are You Fucking Kidding Us?
- Kelly Davis wonders what would have happened had he been looking the other way for just a few moments.
He was standing in Daley Plaza, watching his 2-year-old and 4-year-old daughters slide down the Picasso sculpture, when he saw a man rushing toward Myla, the youngest girl, Saturday evening.
The man grabbed the girl's arm, muttering "This is my daughter, Goldilocks," but Davis said he wrestled him away and then chased him through alleys and building lobbies before finally flagging down police.
What? Saturday evening? And it's now Tuesday at 1530 hours when this story hits the Tribune Breaking News site? Almost seventy-two hours and this is "breaking news." Honest to pete, we though we were having iPhone issues when the news alert button chimed. How the hell was this kept quiet?
- "I have no doubt that if I had my back turned, he would have grabbed her and she would have been gone in the city and I would have never seen her again," said Davis, 31, who lives in Zion and drives a school bus.
Oh, a tourist. We have not a doubt in the world that Rahm and Rahm's people made a shitload of calls to the media and demanded they sit on this. Can you imagine the headlines?

Does anyone have any idea how many calls must have been made and how many people told to keep their mouths shut about this one for it to languish for nearly three fucking days?

The chase even went through the Chase Bank building. "At the desk, I told them my name and a his description." Around LaSalle and Washington streets, Davis said he spotted police officers and alerted them and the man was arrested.
Green said she was frantic after Davis ran off. "I was standing there, there are no cops coming, I have two very upset children and my boyfriend just took off with some crazy man and I’m standing by myself in the middle of Chicago."
Two-hundred extra police downtown and none around Daley Plaza? Probably all keeping an eye on the wilding crowd.
Journalism is dead in this burg. No way any old time reporter lets this sit for three days. You can't tell us that no one, on a Saturday night, wasn't tipping off someone somewhere about this one. We just don't believe it.

I don't know where it started but it came screaming through 016 west-bound, through Park Ridge to Drs Plaines through the casino parking lot, north in to Des Plaines, south back towards O'Hare into O'Hare, at one point 1650 terminated only to have 1600X pick up the chase herself into O'Hare, dude caught in arrival traffic and finally taken onto custody.
Dude rammed at least two CPD squad cars, other civilian cars possibly and a 015th district tact car also in an accident not known if hit by fleeing offender or not.
Through all of this not one peep from the useless chopper that spends more time getting gas in Indiana then doing anything usefull.

You read my mind SCC. Every night, there is a run down of shootings and homicides, but this escapes their attention??? "Welcome to Chicago, now watch yer youngins...or the snatchers will get 'em!!!!" Jesus Christ! Very OT..HELP NEEDED FOR A CPD FIRE VICTIM AND HIS FAMILY..
Early this morning one of our school families from St. Symphorosa had a fire in their home. Just about everything was lost. Dad is a CPD officer, their daughter is in the 4th grade. While they were not hurt, they did lose their dog. :( We would like to come together as a community and help them in any which way. If any CPD officers have police pants, shirts, etc or mens clothing, he wears Large, and then 36x28, Mom wears a Large and Size 10 and their daughter wears a little girls size 10...This Wednesday at 6pm, donations will be accepted from the community, and then delivered to the family. IF you can help by bringing your van to fill up , or loading, or any other way, it is greatly appreciated. Together, lets pray also for this family, this is truly devastating! Hope to see lots on Wednesday in the parking lot across from our church (62nd and Austin)

When the story finally did hit the print editors' radar, they did the follow up piece, which contained all the detail missing from the TV station's Web piece.

It's getting bad out there. I work security at a high rise building downtown and a few days ago there was a crazy man with a knife threatening people. It took the cops 50 minutes to get here. I couldn't believe it.

hey dingus that bullshit chase could of gotten an officer killed or even one of the children in the car.What you fail to mention is that was a named offender from a robbery and oooohhhhh wait for it felony theft.there was no on view armed robbery,only the squeling of johnny cakes making it seem like it was.Someone so thirsty for a head that puts other officers in danger is a joke.you already have the offenders name from previous report,grab the license plate,get an address and grab him another day,nahnahnahanahnah.

My sis and her boys were recently here visiting from Montana, they wanted to go downtown to see some sights, visiting Navy Pier my 20y/o nephew got separated from the group.. Unfortunately he left his cell back in MT, so for well over an hour he searched for my sis, til he finally stopped a guy explained his dilemma and asked if he could use the dudes phone to call his mom. Dude says sorry my battery is dead. My nephew finally catches up with the group, and later as they're leaving the pier he runs into the same cell phone guy chatting away on his phone. Nephew walks up and says 'yeah, thanks a lot man, I found my family'!
After giving him a briefing on how shitty this city is, and the definition of the 'apple picker' he kind of calmed down and understood the guys reaction.
