Lewis Out
So does Fioretti make a legit run? Or was he the vote-splitter?
- Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis will not pursue a bid for Chicago mayor, the coordinator of the committee that was exploring a run announced Monday.
Lewis, 61, had been seen as a potentially strong challenger to Mayor Rahm Emanuel in the February election. Her series of speaking engagements around the city was interrupted last week when she was hospitalized after becoming sick at home. Union officials said she underwent surgery and was suffering from a “serious illness,” but have provided few other details about what is wrong with her.
Our guess? Cancer. [UPDATE: It's cancer]
In the meantime, Lewis's statement by her people had no mention of maybe endorsing someone other than Rahm. She appears to hate his guts and there was no love lost in return either. Either Fioretti starts making the right moves or he was the plant all along.

According to a release...She has a malignant brain tumor. Looks like the TD may have a lock here.
Yes, reported as cancerous brain tumor: http://politics.suntimes.com/article/chicago/karen-lewis-has-brain-tumor-not-running-mayor/mon-10132014-501pm
Rumors of an inoperable malignant brain tumor stops CTU President Karen Lewis from Chicago Mayoral Bid
YOU READ IT HERE FIRST - NOW IT'S CONFIRMED
Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis, who just pulled out of mayoral contention, is suffering from a cancerous brain tumor

Get well Lewis.
SCC, several news sources quoted a formal press release from Lewis' people tonight, saying she has a cancerous brain tumor and will undergo chemo and she is not running and has told them to shut the signature-gathering down.
Two local channels ran with it on the ten o'clock news.
According to the scum times, Lewis has a brain tumor.
See a comment in the beauty salon post from about 9:45 Sunday night...someone on here knows someone who knew she had a brain tumor 24 hours before it became public.
OT: Rumor is Karen Lewis has a brain tumor...I wouldn't have voted for her, but wish her well.

This is from the post about business hours.
The other day someone posted a comment here that said she had a brain tumor. On Ch 9 news tonight, they said they had unconfirmed info that she had brain cancer. Like her, hate her, or don't care about her, brain cancer/tumor is not something you'd want to hear someone have to go through.
Just looked at suntimes.com and they're reporting she has a cancerous brain tumor.
Rahm's in no matter who runs.
Better the devil you know than the demon you don't know. Vote for Rahm.
Better than rham
Fioretti is pissed about losing his ward. He is a nice guy except for his histoy of suing cops . His finance manager Romanucci sues cops as well. That along with the issues he has with paying his staff and his lack of accomplishments and experience is enough to stop me from voting for him. Neither Rahm nor Fioretti will be getting my vote.
Yup.. Brain Cancer
Had surgery over the weekend at Northwestern per WGN Radio at 0145hrs today.

The race for Mayor of Chicago
New candidate for Mayor
October 14, 2014: If you haven’t been satisfied by the list of candidates that have entered the race for Mayor, well this may be the candidate for you. A dynamic, charismatic, young man who is objective and non-biased, did I fail to mention that he also one of Chicago’s finest. His name is Christopher Ware, and he is an 18year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, and he has started a grass roots campaign.

I don't care if it's Jesse Jackson. I will vote for the person that has the best chance to unseat this little nine fingered hobgoblin.
They will only have four years to mess things up with no real machine in place. Then, four years from now, we might see some real candidates. RAHM MUST GO AT ANY PRICE.
Would like to mind everyone that Collins from 12 is running and has volounteered to wear the pilot program body camera so everyone could see all the work he does.
Karen Lewis would have been great for working people and the middle class. I wish her well.
The current Mayor is from and for the 1%.
Anyone but Rahm.
I am not voting for the TD!
I said it here before SCC. Remember, when Karen went on that long vacation in Hawaii??
I told you the White House got to her. Hmmm, all of a sudden brain tumor/cancer. The bottom line is I told you she wasn't going to run!
Fioretti looks like a plant. All green and leafy.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
I knew Fioretti wasn't for real when he didn't say anything after that "disaster" of a fire thing on the river.
Get well Karen.....Go Fred Collins

I would vote for a turd with pasted on googly eyes before I ever vote for that mother fucker.
We need a good Republican to run against Rahm.
If Rahm gets re-elected, the people,of Chicago will get what they deserve.
Donald Trump is the one!
Chris Ware it is then.
The real question is, who will the blacks vote for now? Whoever Karen endorses I guess. So I wouldn't say rham is completely out of the water just yet. If half of them vote at all now after this.
Damn. The voters in this city can't catch a break. Fioretti was never as serious candidate and will drop too.
Rahm IS the devil.
He gave Lewis brain cancer.
Too bad Lar "America First" Daley is no longer around. He would get my vote.
More and more this convinces me in my belief that Obama is the Anti-Christ and Rahm is his servant.
Brain cancer-wouldn't wish that on anyone. God bless for recovery.
Plant is my guess.
How did rahm plant that tumor in Lewis?
I am wishing Karen Lewis the best. Bottom line is we are all mere mortals. I feel for anyone, and everyone, that must endure illness, and pain. Ms. Lewis I hope a you pull out of this, and go on to enjoy a happy life.
Not to do with politics but perhaps a friend of hers will read this blog and share the story of a friend of mine. He had a particularly virulent form of a cancerous tumor that was the size of a walnut that could not be cut out. Talking a 5% chance of living a year. Had seeds implanted, lived a dozen more years and had four kids during those years. Ended up dying from booze/liver problems and not cancer. It can be beat, even the worst of worst at times. Pass it on to Karen.

I don't even detect the hint of humor or sarcasm in that one.
We get nothing but shit to vote for here. From FOP President to Senator to Mayor. Nothing. Zeroes. Snakes in a snake pit.
ABR - Anyone But Rahm. Fioretti has my vote.
How in a city this size do we not have any viable person or persons to run against this little MONSTER who just decided that ,"Hey I'm rich so why not just take over the city of Chicago and enrich all my Northshore pals, and just because he has a hook into our 1st self proclaimed African American Prez he comes into the city and wins big time, this city sucks, all these aldermen suck , etc. etc. etc.
I don't care for the woman, but I also don't wish this on her, or anyone, not even dikhed Daley. Him I wish a hernia that never heals.
Best wishes to her!
Anyone but Rham I don't like the devil and the cop hater
SCC c'mon you know better. In Chicago's elections the goal is to force a run-off, which happens if no single candidate reaches 50+ percent. The more candidates that run gives each and every voter a flavor that closely matches their wishes; i.e. one less vote for Rahm, the "broad" candidate. Had both Lewis AND Alderman Bob run, the odds of a run-off INCREASE not decrease. And forcing a run-off is the name of the game if you want Rahm out.
Sad to hear that Karen Lewis condition is a lot worse than expected, for anyone to have that disease is a terrible ordeal. I hope she can overcome the stress of treatment.
Her tenacity and character are true and she earned my support a long time ago. I wish her and her family well.
Given her dropping out of the election, I certainly will not vote for Rahm-Rauner or any of their 1%, million dollar fund raising hobnob cheats.
Fioretti needs to bring it up a notch. Chicago doesn't need a phony former chief of staff who is as out of touch with the hard working people he should be representing.
The Freddie 'Boom-Boom' Collins spoiler prediction is a wash.
This is Rahm's second campaign in a row where an opponent dropped out because of Cancer.
Just sayin'.......

Get up a web site, quick!
Let's toss the whole Rolodex Of Evil out the window, cards fluttering down onto the street.
Dynamite the Obama/Emanuel Brothers/Rauner/Bloomberg/Jarrett/Pritzker/Daley/Axelrod Chicago-to-D.C.-to-NY six-foot diameter high-pressure pipeline of crap.
We need a mayor who doesn't have a phone call!
SCC - is this posting about a new candidate, Chris Ware running true? If it is, please get more info out and maybe we can have a real chance to get rahm voted out.
I'm stuck between Chris Ware and Fioretti now. Anyone except Rahm!
Karma is a nasty fellow.
Get Well Karen. You are a wild breath of fresh air in a smoke filled turgid backroom dirty dealing city. Well, fresher than we have now, anyway...

Well, we know that a troll wrote this because no one that is/was a sworn CPD or CFD would even consider voting for the midget rahm.
My apologies to any midgets on here who had to see rahm in the same sentence as you. Oops, I meen "little people".
THIS ALL PART OF THE DALEY CRIME FAMILY PLAN GET RID OF YOUR ENEMIES, in the movie the godfather part 2 tom hagen says to michael corleone "what do you want to do kill everybody?" and michael responded "no tom just my enemies"
Given a choice between Fioretti, or Rahm, it's Fioretti all the way. If re-elected, Rahm is coming after our pensions. By raising the rates that retirees pay for health insurance, Rahm is diminishing their pensions without calling it that. Liberals, through their use of language, are very good at shaping the debate to favor their views. Active guys are next.

That sounds just great. The only thing is he doesn't have the slightest chance. Who will vote for him besides his family and some friends?
I detest Rahm and I hated Daley. That is what we get here, scum for political leaders.
I wish her well, but once again the media has to make it about race.
Where does the black vote go without Karen Lewis in mayor's race?
http://politics.suntimes.com/article/chicago/where-does-black-vote-go-without-karen-lewis-mayors-race/tue-10142014-354pm
I am sick and tired of it always being about race. I am white and was thinking about voting for her.
This city is DONE, such a miserable place to spend a life.
After the debate Im NOT voting Quinn No more of the same
Truly a sad day and a victory for evil in the city.
The photo op of a gravely ill Karen Lewis on a podium endorsing Fioretti would be an enormous boost. You can't help but be heartbroken for she,her family and many friends. Rahm is scum and purely evil hopefully Karma will come back and bite Beezelbub in his shitty tuchas.
Citizens of Chicago that paid for private education for their children should vote for fioretti or ware . Why are children penalized for receiving a religious education.
City hires ex cons over citizens that followed the rules.
Will Karen Lewis endorse Bob fioretti , he never swore at her , do the right thing after you recover . You can make change for all citizens .

Can a republican please stand up?? Please
Attn: Ms. Lewis --
Hey, babe.
While I detest a great deal of what you currently stand for, I feel that, as mayor, you would have had a lot more thrice-removed, well-insulated, intellectually-based (as opposed to experientially-based) compassion for the genuinely needy here -- the poor people you never see out your front window because they're very quietly picking up aluminum soda cans out behind your garage at 2 AM -- than the savage Emanuel Brothers/Rauner axis.
I perceive your current "concern" as being more theoretical than practical -- but many things are fungible.
I have always envisioned you as a sort of Hugo Chavez in a sack dress. (Hope I got you laughing.) The red T-shirts did rather lead the way in the formation of that impression.
I wish that we could have a roaring great long conversation around the fire pit, slathered on icy German beer and near comatose from huge venison burgers. You have a fine mind, even if it is temporarily (I always hold out hope for an awakening to the truth) misdirected.
Although I know that we would currently disagree on many points when it comes down to everyday reality, I nonetheless empathise, sympathize with your current difficulties, and will remember you in my prayers for a safe and speedy recovery.
I don't necessarily want you as Mayor -- you should go and get a lot of rest when you get off chemo, go back to simple things like trees and flowers and birds -- but I feel that you would make a grand conversational adversary, at the very least.
"If two people agree about absolutely everything, it merely means that one of them is not necessary."
God bless. Stay safe. Check back with us soon.
Best wishes.
Susana Mendoza would be a great candidate. City clerk

Quinn looked like a bumbling, inept, petulant, jealous child. If he had turned this state around after sliding into Blago's term of office, I'd have voted for him forever, but he has done nothing but display his incompetence over and over again.
Not thrilled by Rauner, but at least he's an administrator and this state needs a real, live, professional administrator.

NO, I have not missed the last two elections. I just wish they would stop making it about us vs them. I truly believe that they are more racist then the whites. It has gotten much worse since he was elected.
Quinn for mayor of Chicago
Raiuner for governor
That would be interesting
I would sooner vote for the results of a bowel flushing enema than for that fucking little midget.

SCC performs a much more valuable service to the city by staying right here.
Not thrilled by Rauner, but at least he's an administrator and this state needs a real, live, professional administrator.
-------
He will successfully administer your pension into his investment portfolio...anyone who spends that much of his own money to win a governor's office with no prior interest in service is a bigger threat than a bumbling idiot. You detectives call it "motive" I believe. Anyone on the job who votes for bruce, shouldn't be surprised why they can't retire till 80. Why didn't he unveil his master plan.
Since you all have complained that it is difficult for you to reach me in order to sign the petition, I will make it easier. Sat. 18 October 2014 and Sun.19 October 2014 from 10am until 1pm. I will be accepting signatures for my petitions to get on the ballot to become the Mayor of Chicago. 3523 S. Indiana Ave. 773-255-3858. If you have any questions.
