What's with the middle-of-the-police-period details of new sergeants to the west and south sides?
Speaking of that, what's with half-a-dozen or so new lieutenants being detailed to the same places? Eight lieutenants per district where there are only seven available slots? We haven't seen that in years.
They seem to have pulled a largish number of white shirts from the "quiet" districts and detailed them to the killing fields. Is this some type of "smoke-and-mirror" thing to fool the Department of Justice into thinking there's adequate supervision on the streets?

Every one already knows what the problems are but for various reasons can't address them .

I think you nailed SCC smoke and mirrors. The supervisors going there were told that no one knows why they were sent there or where they will put them. There's already too many supervisors. Looks like half will be heading home after roll call every day.
Ot. Have you guys read the bullshit article on the three superintendent candidates. Here's something comical , Lori Lightfoot who is in charge of the police board said of the White female candidate.“When she retired from the Spokane Police Department, her retirement party was thrown in a black church there."WHO GIVES A FUCK LORI. WHY DOES THAT MATTER. So your telling me, this old white lady got a retirement party in a black church, so she's Sqaured away? What a joke.

SCC, I believe the Dept. is actually being proactive on this one. Due to the Arbitrators Award on matching the "Free" 55 & out medical like you blue shirts got in your contract. Any Sgt. who wants it free and not 2% has to go by mid May. Any Lt. by mid Oct. So the dept. is figuring on more than the usual retirements coming up, and does not want to be caught short in those areas.

yes, yes it is a smoke and mirror ruse to trick the DOJ into thinking we are on the brink of getting our crap together...with the help of CALEA (no waste of manpower money resources there)...just look how CALEA helped us become more uniform by hiding our tattoos--which are now visible....The supervisor detail is just more crap---would like to see an analysis of that outcome---how many hours did each white shirt actually work, what duties did they perform....
The department never should of reduced the number of sgts. We are supposedly now near "full strength" for sgts and we still have to detail sgts to other districts. Obviously if there is a need to detail sgts, we need more. It will be interesting to see what they do when 125 sgts retire in May.
I heard that the DOJ wants one supervisor for every seven p/os. So the city will continue to promote to meet this guideline. So the white shirt ranks will increase while the blue shirt ranks decrease. A classic case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians. The DOJ is looking particularly at 011, 007, and 009. Looking into my crystal ball I predict in the near future the blue shirts will be denied time off because of man power needs while the white shirts will be able to take off at will because they will be tripping over each other.
I thought that was a McNutty thing..... I'm sure it's more of a Rahm thing. Keep taking resources from the "quieter" tax paying areas and redirect those resources to "the community".

They are talking about 250-350 sgts getting made in 2016 alone due to the mass Sgt retirements and the Doj boost in supervision. They may also make between 80-115 more LTs just in 2016 because of the DOJ thing. Lots more supervision also will be put in IAD.

How quickly we forget. Five years ago, Tinydancer 9.5 was elected. He promptly brought in McCompstat. 9.5 and McStreetlights immediately reduced the department by eliminating 4000 (yes that is a four with three zeroes behind it) non-filled positions. Not civilian positions, sworn positions. This was a budget move. Now 5 years later, we are under federal investigation, a lawsuit filed by the ACLU and short 4000 cops. In the immortal words of Jack Nicholson as the Joker, "This town needs and enema."
So many bosses leaving, but will the doj do it's job and make sure the street officers are hired! We are down how many coppers? 1-2-3-4 Thousand? This is ridiculous, we need 9161 Blue shirt troops street coppers, more bosses yes come on just another burden on the pension fund! But cannot blame many at least they are smart enough to leave before the "long hot summer" But this finishes the knowledgeable bosses that possibly had our back, now the "new kids on the block" are taking over may God help us all.
The Sgt are getting paid time & a half for not volunteering.. In 90 days that's a big paycheck... I know they aren't crying!!!

No there are too many P.O.'s that are up there in age and don't want to do a phucking thing, last 3 classes mostly useless You know who you are

Bullshit!! It's not in the budget, and it would be over authorized strength. If those Sgts. and Lts. numbers go up, it will be after many years of stalling by city hall, and only because the Justice Department forced them due to span of control issues.
Exactly 3:10am! Who gives a fuck if it was in a "black" church! What a stupid thing to say. These people are so affixed on race that they promote hate and division. They are the biggest racists around. Imagine if a white person called their church a "white" church? That would not happen because good intelligent people aren't even thinking along those lines. got a call today asking if I would be interested in coming back to work for the Dept. in IAD as an investigator. Seems they are looking for some retired guys . I was 63 when I left. Interesting offer.

asking if I want to come back to work in IAD. AGE 55.
Trouble is I still work there, but since they will not accept any of my work.
They thought I was retired.......
Anyone else in the Bureau get the same call?

Hahahahah, people THIS IS NOT TRUE! If you are on the list don't get your hopes up because of this idiot. They are going to make only one more class in 2016 shortly before or at summer because of the retirements and that class will only be about 75-100 still leaving us pretty short. As it stands today we are 37 sgts short under the budgeted amount. If 100-130 retire we will end up about 60-80 short after that class which will then be made up in the beginning of next year with the new budget. Don't get hyped because of this know nothing idiot. Any questions you have about promotions please don't listen here, call the pbpa and we will tell you what is possible it junk. This rumor is junk
Hey retired guys offered IAD position, did they mention how much they will pay? Not that I would become a snitch or anything.

Don't feel bad for the sergeants that got detailed out. Most of them are making overtime everyday they work because they're detailed out of their assigned unit. BIG MONEY!!!!

Not true, new sgts are not bids to any district, they can be moved.
Assigned and bids are two different things. Not true
If you are moved out of the area you are entitled to time and half. It's written in the sgts contract and the dept knew it and still moved the sgts.
