How Empty is the Jail?

  • Cook County is demolishing three divisions, representing close to a half-million square feet of cell space, as the jail population has hit the lowest level in 25 years.

Cook County officials stood in a muddy yard behind the razor wire and walls at the jail complex as demolition started on the first building. WBBM [...] reports.

“Jails are for violent people,” said Sheriff Tom Dart, “and we have a lot of violence in our society.”

“We are always going to have places for them here,” Dart said. “But for the non-violent people, for the mentally ill, they don’t need to be here and through a lot of the work we’ve been doing for the last few years we have been able to get a lot of those people out of here.”
This non-police lib-tard (along with Prickwrinkle and the media) doesn't seem make the connection that the rising violence in Chicago just might be directly connected to the jail being empty. Because we've noticed in our decades of policing that when the jail is full and people are held in a secure environment, they don't seem to victimize the rest of society.

We can't prove it, but it must have something to do with the razor wire, twenty-foot high walls, regulated atmosphere and sniper towers. We're hoping to get funding for a study soon.

Prickwrinkle has this laughable take:
  • “We know that holding people in jail destroys lives. Even a short period of pre-trial detention can result in the loss of your job or your home,” Preckwinkle said. “Every effort needs to be made to be sure that people can keep working, attending school and caring for their families as they await trials.”
No word on the families destroyed when their "screening process" fails miserably.

Here's a novel idea, Toni....TELL YOUR PEEPS NOT TO COMMIT A CRIME, AND THEY WONT GO TO JAIL!!!! Don't go to jail, and you won't lose your job (like you really had one), you can still go to school (like you really go to class), or take care of your family (like you take care of your responsibilities).

I'm no expert in the field but I am willing to bet that at least 80% of people locked up in the county have no legitimate source of income. The people that have real jobs usually don't get arrested and if they do they can make bond.

In other words criminals should be out roaming the streets, not in jail. Incarceration is inconvenient for criminals, so we don't do it. We are living in loony toon land, I am surprised normal thinking people put up with it. Can you imagine if these people ran the nation?.

Yes but how about the lives affected by the crimes they commit over and over again ?
I been saying this for years .... the victims of these crimes or their families need to start going public when charges against the offender are dropped or downgraded
Especially if their minority ... have their lawyer host a nice press conference downtown with all parties that were victims and call out the state attorney who downgraded or the judge dismissed the charges
start embarrassing them in a public forum

Unbelievable, and yet somehow, exactly what you would expect her to say. How about, before you commit a violent crime, think about your job, think about your school, think about the family that you "care for". Still want to commit a violent crime? Then you CASHED IN all those things, and you became a CRIMINAL. You should go to jail, get treated like the animal you are, and lose everything.

That's ok, things just need to get a little worse here in Crook County, before people start to realize what the electorate that voted for Donald Trump has known for a good long time...that government is a necessary evil, but it has applications, such as protecting us from violent criminals. It needs to stick to this, and butt out of the areas of life where government doesn't belong, like telling us what kind of light bulbs, toasters, and toilets we're allowed to have.

Agg Batt to simple battery, Vehicle Hijacks to Motor Vehicle Theft, People that pulls guns on others reduced to Disorderly Conduct... give me a break. This county would rather reduce or completely disregard every charge if possible. The only thing that county seems to care about are murders.

I can't figure this out: Over 4,000 people shot in Chicago this year, and the jail is demolishing space? How does this make sense, if the offenders are being arrested and housed until trial? Seriously, I am not trying to be sarcastic, how does it make any sense that we have this many people shot, and a decline in the jail population? Are Judges and Prosecutors at fault? Also, be careful the Gloves are Off, the Press is an enemy! Placing a photo and name of a Sgt. on the Front Page of the Scum Times before he was indicted was a very dangerous move for him and his family. The Internet exposes cops and their families to a total lack of Privacy! Jamal can find everyone of us on the Net.Perhaps it is time to start Exposing the Press! This whole thing is so strange that there has to be another side that I'm missing. Talk about blind justice!
The jail population is down by design but the number of murders and even the downgraded numbers for violent crime are up.
They can't see that?
The jails are full of mentals not criminals. Mentals, although they do commit crimes, do not belong in jail?
They tear down what appear to be functional buildings, that could be used to treat mentals, to save money by not using them.
Where is that cost savings in the way of lower taxes?
Less people in jail, less courts, less judges, less employees. Where are the savings in lower taxes?
Who has the wrecking contract? And who gets the construction contracts to fill the new spaces?
This whole county government stinks...

Toni "Sir-Ma'am" Prickwrinkle's decision

Tom "Half-Wit" Dart is just a bereft of morality,
craven, life-long opportunist and Chicago Democratic Machine

So...let me get this straight...

Toni and her fan base believe that officers who are stripped should go into a no pay status throughout the course of the investigation into misconduct. But criminals should not have their lives interrupted in any way for criminal activity... Sounds logical.

If a criminal is going to be accused of a crime we need signed complaints(affidavit), but a criminal can make allegations against officers and no longer need sign an affidavit... Sounds logical.

No wonder 800 people will lose their lives in Chicago this year but all they care about is police being nicer to criminals. Its logical.....holy fuck me.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-chicago-police-gun-offenders-met-20161202-story.html

but then this in the story:

Johnson cited the incident as an example of how gang members have become more emboldened, in part because of what the superintendent considers lenient penalties for gun offenses.

"If these guys will shoot at a ... squad car, officers in uniform, then what do you think they fear about other gang members out there doing the same thing?" Johnson asked reporters at police headquarters.

MMMM Eddie, eddie could it be the main reason because they coppers are being bastardized by you, your gold star club, the dishonest 24/7 media, coppers being prosecuted and stripped for bullshit? How about a boss the head of this very dept. that allowed his girlfriend to cheat on the lietenannts exam along with her friends and they all get promoted disregarding the rule 14 which is lying?

Eddie could it be the kimmy foxx effect since she had commercials run when she was a candidate showing police officers doing their jobs and she talked how she was going to prosecute officers? Lets take a recent look at the sergeant that was stripped so quickly what happened with "innocent until proven guilty?" Now prickwinkle is demolishing entire divisions but guess what has not changed and in fact increased, Crime. So any intelligent person would inquire how is this possible? Well our streets are the new jail. Offenders are being put back on the street of our fine city to cause more chaos while awaiting trial. This my friends is called manufactured violence. Manufactured by prickwinkle with the gracious assistance of Rahm, Cook County Judges, Eddie the Stripper, your do nothing alderman who care more about street signs than the violence that is killing and wounding the people they are suppose to be representing, Father Faker, Kim Fox and Tommy toupee.
